Chapter 17: Sam: At the Hospital

~A/N: I'm being nice, okay? I'm uploading 100000000+ (overstatement) chapters in the next few minutes (or however long it takes). Enjoy!~

I was pacing in front of the door. My palms were sweaty, and I was scared.

What happened? I thought. Is Chrissy going to be okay? If she's not...no Sam. Don't think like that.

A nurse came out of the door. I gave her a 'Tell-me-what-happened' face.

"Chrissy was stabbed in her left shoulder," she said. "It wasn't fatal. She'll be okay. She's still asleep, though. You can go see her now."

I wasted no time. I opened the door and ran over to Chrissy's side. The nurse was right: she was still sleeping. Her left shoulder was wrapped in many bandages. Her brown hair was tangled and spread around her head. Her mouth was slightly open. She was breathing heavily.

"Chrissy," I said out loud. "I'm sorry I wasn't there. If I had known, I would've taken that knife for you. Please wake up. If I had too, if stay here forever." I paused and grasped her hand. "I'll be waiting."

Nothing. Then, Chrissy's head moved slightly. She slowly opened her eyes and gave me a weak smile.

"Forever's a long time Sam," she said.

"Chrissy!" I yelled.

"Hi Sam."

"Who did this to you?"

Her face fell. "Yuki."

My mouth dropped open as she told me the story.

"Is there anyone in this town that doesn't want you killed?" she asked.

"You."

"Ha ha. Seriously, anyone else?"

"Us."

I turned around at the British voice. Grian and Taurtis were standing in the doorway. They walked over to us.

"I don't know...maybe I would argue," Taurtis joked. We laughed.

"Yuki did it?" Grian asked Chrissy. She nodded.

"Wow," Taurtis said. "I know she has a knife but I didn't think she would do that."

"Me neither," Chrissy said. "But I underestimated her. She is very dangerous." There was silence for a while. Then Taurtis snickered, looking at our hands together.

"I ship it," he said.

"Srissy," Grian said.

"Oh my gosh yes."

"Is this really the time for this?" I said, letting go of Chrissy's hand.

"Come on Sam," Taurtis said. "You don't think we know about you're cheeky kiss at the park?" Me and Chrissy blushed.

"Wait," Grian said. "If they were married, then Sam would be you're brother-in-law, Taurtis."

"Yes! Bros!"

Before they could say anything else, a nurse with a clipboard came into the room.

"Ah," she said. "You're awake. Do you boys mind leaving so I can ask a few questions?"

"I'm staying," I said. The others just shrugged and left the room, closing the door. The nurse turned to me.

"Brother? Friend? Cousin?"

"Boyfriend," I said.

"I see." The nurse turned towards Chrissy. "Do you know who or what stabbed you?"

"It was Yuki," she whispered.

"Could you say that louder?"

"SirCutieYuki."

"What did she stab you with?"

"An kitchen-style knife. It was already covered in blood."

"Oh dear. Where were you when she stabbed you?"

"The alley. I was heading home."

"Okay. Who found you?"

Chrissy looked at me. "Sam, Taurtis, and Grian." There was a pause.

"I'm guessing you're Sam." The nurse pointed at me. "Those two outside, are they Taurtis and Grian?"

"Yes," Chrissy said.

"What are they in relationship to you?"

"Taurtis is my brother. Grian is a friend."

Knowing this town, he's probably going to turn out being you're cousin, I thought.

"Alright," the nurse said. "Who is you're family? Parent-wise."

"Yakuza Karu."

Just as she said it, the leader of the Yakuza burst through the door. He ran over to Chrissy's side.

"Chrissy, I came as soon as I heard," he said.

"Are you Yakuza Karu?" the nurse asked.

"Yes."

"Alright then. Miss Karu, another doctor will be here shortly. He will tell you if you can leave today. You probably will, since that wound most likely only needs a week or so to heal." She left the room.

"Chrissy, how are you feeling?" her father asked.

"I'm fine."

"Who did this?"

"Yuki."

"Oh no. I can guess why."

There was a silence. Chrissy closed her eyes, Karu looked like he was thinking, and I just stood there awkwardly. Then Chrissy's dad looked up at me, anger in his eyes.

"This is your fault," he said. "If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be in this hospital room. If it wasn't for you, Mr. Gladiator, than my daughter would've been fine!" He yelled the last part out, and I stood there in shock.

"Actually, it's your fault," Taurtis' voice said. I turned my head. He was standing in the doorway, Grian behind him.

"What? How dare you accuse me, son?"

"If you hadn't started that test, making Yuki go want to kill Sam, then calling it off, making Yuki want to go after Chrissy because she's in love with Sam, than none of us would be here right now, arguing."

"He makes a fair point," Grian said.

"But-" Karu was cut off by his daughter.

"Father, he's right," Chrissy said. "And I don't care how much you don't believe it or how much you blame Sam. I know where you're going with this. It won't happen. I'll always love him. No matter what you do."

Karu stood up. "Then I guess I'll leave," he said. "You've won this battle, Sam Gladiator." He left the room.

A few minutes later, a doctor came into the room.

"Oh," he said, clearly not expecting this much company. "Well boys, lemme guess, Sam, Chrissy's girlfriend," he pointed at me. "Taurtis, her brother," he pointed at Taurtis. "And Grian, a friend." We nodded. "Well boys, I'm going to ask you to leave the room."

Grian walked out the door without hesitation. I shook my head.

"Mr. Gladiator," the doctor said. "Taurtis is the only one who would even be permitted to stay since he's her brother, but he still can't. Please leave."

"No," I shook my head again.

"I'm just gonna go," Taurtis said, stepping out the room.

"Mr. Gladiator." The doctor narrowed his eyes.

"No," Chrissy said. "He promised he'd stay with me. Forever. Do you want to be responsible for breaking that?"

"Well, no. No I don't."

After the doctor had inspected and tended to Chrissy's wound, he said, "You may leave Miss Karu. Just sign here." He passed her a clipboard. "You won't be able to use your left arm for maybe three to five weeks. Come back in three." Chrissy handed the clipboard back and got out of the bed. She was still in her school clothes. Although her shirt was ripped in the left shoulder, she was fine.

Chrissy's shoulder had been bandaged like heck. It wasn't in a cast, she didn't need that. It had what looked like fifty bandages wrapped around it. There were so many you could see some poking out of her shirt's neck hole.

We stepped out of the room. Grian and Taurtis came rushing over to us.

"Can you leave?" Taurtis asked. Chrissy nodded. Taurtis scooped her up in a hug.

"You know," Grian said. "If Sam didn't exist, and you two weren't brother and sister, I'd totally ship you."

"Under those circumstances," I said. "I would too."

"But you wouldn't be around to do it," Taurtis said. "You wouldn't exist."

"No one likes a know-it-all Taurtis," I complained.

"Come on boys," Chrissy said, grabbed me and Taurtis by the collars and yanking us forward. "Let's get out of here."

Me and Taurtis walked ahead, bickering about who-knows-what. Behind me, I thought I heard Chrissy whisper, "Kids these days. Right?"

"Yep," Grian said. "They always argue."

"I can hear you!" I said. They laughed. I smiled, then continued arguing with Taurtis.

~A/N: There! Longer chapter than normal! Happy? You better be. Things are about to get good *laughs evilly*
