Chapter 15: Chrissy: Depression and Confess

~A/N: WARNING! This chapter and a few others will be either depressing or slightly graphic. If you don't want your heart broken, oh well! :) But don't worry, I'll tell you at the beginning of the chapter. As you can tell by the title, this one's depressing!~

I got home smiling. I walked over to my father, who was on his computer.

"Father, can I ask you something?" I said.

"Sure, cherry," he said, turning around. "What is it?"

"Is Taurtis really your son?"

"How do you know about that?"

"Oh come on. You think I don't know where you go at night? I sometimes follow you. I just happened to pick the right night." (A/N: lies)

"Come sit down, cherry." He gestured to the chair beside him. I sat down. "Do you want me to tell you the story?"

"Yes Father." I slid my hand into my pocket, grabbed my phone, and pressed the 'record' button.

"When Taurtis was born, he was weak," he began. "I was unsure if he would survive our 'harsh' lifestyle, so I gave him up. At this time we were in America, before you were born. He was taken in by a family that would take care of him. We moved to California, then you were born.

"Then, the...tragedy happened, as you know. I took you and we moved here. When Sam and Taurtis came to town, I watched them. I then realized Taurtis was the son I had lost years ago, so I made my move. But, with all the things I've done to him and Sam, I doubt he'll trust me. I was surprised to see him at the park, but I doubt he'll come to the meeting."

"To wrap this up," I said. "Taurtis was born before me, but you thought he couldn't handle this life, so he was adopted by someone else. Then, he just so happens to come here, and you confess that he's actually your son."

"Yes."

"Oh, okay." I hit the record button again. Then I got up. "Thank you, father." I went upstairs and into my room. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, grabbed some earphones, and put them in. Then I started playing a song: Home, by Nathan Smith (NateWantsToBattle). (A/N: seriously, I can't stop listening to his songs)

I walked over to my small balcony and put my arms on the railing. The song finished its long intro music.

"Was it you? Or was it me? Is this I nightmare of just a dream?" I sang. "I've lost my mind. I've lost myself. Am I at home or am I in hell?"

I watched the birds in a nearby tree as I sung. The sun drifted down the sky, making the sky pink and orange. Then it got to my favorite part.

"Can you even hear me cry? I know you're broken deep inside. I swear I'll put you back together." I dropped my voice. "But now I'm home, right where I belong. And I cannot stay strong. And in my mind, it's what I deserve all along. Just let me go. I'm trapped within my home. They left me all alone. It's all I know, and as my fear grows, it's where I'll call my home." The song faded out, and I felt like crying just listening to it.

I walked over to my bed. I laid down and thought about everything. Taurtis was my brother. My father was still trying to kill Sam. Yuki was acting strange. My life was falling apart, rebuilding itself, than repeating.

I thought about crying. Taurtis had helped some with talking to me, but it did little against everything else. I needed some assurance. A way to know everything was going to be okay. Then I made up my mind.

I'm going to assure myself. If I don't do anything about my life, than it'll just get worse. I walked downstairs and to my father's side, who was on the couch watching the T.V.

"Father, I need to tell you something," I said. "It's important. But first I have a question."

"Anything cherry," he said, turning off the T.V. "What is it?"

I sat down beside him. "Why do you really want to kill Sam? What's he done to you? On purpose?"

My father paused. Then he said, "He is an interesting person. He is very...special in some ways. He is a threat to the business."

"How? How is he a threat?"

"Chrissy, Sam Gladiator is unique. He is part rabbit, shy sometimes then crazy others, target to most bullies, and most of all...he can be the most dangerous person on earth."

"What? How?"

"He is the nephew of one of my past employees. Back when we did experiments, he was the last to be tested. Sam was a weak boy with no hope. By adding a few drops of a very aggressive wolf's blood, mixing it with a dangerous chemical, and putting it into him, we turned him into something sinister. He cannot control it, but it only happens twice in a lifetime."

"He can't be that dangerous."

"If he turns on, he could either go insane, kill himself, or wipe out a town."

I was silent for a moment. Sam couldn't do that! He's too sweet. He's not like that.

"Wasn't there something you had to tell me?" my father asked.

I exhaled. "Yes." I turned and looked into his eyes. "Father, I love Sam." His eyes widened. "I always have. I always will. So will he. We've been dating for a while now. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I was scared you were going to kill him then." I cried a little bit. He wrapped one arm around me.

"It's alright," he said. "I don't mind. It's just that Sam's dangerous."

"Has it already happened once?"

"Yes. We don't know when it will happen again. The tests said around his age or a year older."

"There's got to be some way we can stop it. Without killing him." My father pursed his lips.

"There is one way," he said. "But it's almost as bad as killing him."

"What is it?"

"There's one place we can take him. Then we'd have to put in in isolation. We would then make him go to sleep. We'd wait it out, then take him out. But putting a monster in isolation only makes it more dangerous. And putting him to sleep would be dangerous for him as well. Do you understand?"

I nodded. "We do that. You can't kill him."

"Chrissy, listen, we have to. He can't-"

"No." I faced him. "If you kill him, I'll kill myself. Make. Your. Choice." I got up and walked out.

No, I thought. I won't let Sam die. But should I tell him? I've got to. He has to know. But when will it happen? There's got to be something. Maybe Taurtis knows. Speaking of Taurtis, I have to show him what I recorded. Sam...what will happen to him?

I walked into my room, slammed the door, and cried myself asleep.
