When the early morning sun filtered through my windows the next morning I knew I had to get up. Today was the first day we were going to the beach. We had decided to stay in the day before since the trip had made our bodies very tired. So I sat up in bed, hearing Katelyn still snoring from the bedroom right beside mine. I sighed and got up, holding onto the wall just in case I had a dizzy spell. They seemed to happen right after I get up, so I had to be careful at all times as I stepped out of bed.
I smiled as I walked to the bathroom, suddenly realizing that I was at the beach and the moment I opened the curtains I would see the sand and the ocean waves incase my entire vision. Once I got finished brushing my hair and teeth, I put on my bathing suit. It was cute, but not showy at all. It was bright blue and had white stripes on it, and it was also a bikini. It was one of the less showy bathing suits though; I had gotten lucky to find it. I put up my hair and covered myself with a robe.
Though as I started to walk out of the bathroom, my vision became blurry and my stomach started to churn; I knew I was about to be sick. I ran to the toilet, lucky I had put up my hair before hand as I started throwing my guts up. By now this was a regular for me, so I could clean myself up quickly and act like nothing had happened. And that's exactly what I did.
I stumbled into the kitchen after my spell, not bothering to open my curtains and enjoy the morning sun, to find Grant was already eating cereal at the dining table.
"Good morning Grant." I smiled as he looked up at me and winked. I guess that was how he said good morning while his mouth was full.
"How are you?" I looked back at him as I had made it to the fridge and opened it, looking for something to eat.
I heard him mumble a "good" in reply as I took out the milk. I looked in the cabinet for the same cereal Grant was eating, for it looked like that was the only choice I had for breakfast.
I sat down beside Grant and we both ate in silence; well, that was until Katelyn finally woke up and stomped her way into the kitchen. She was either angry that she had woken up so early or was freezing, as she usually was in the mornings.
"What's wrong sis?" I ask as she sat down beside me finding that she had to eat cereal as well, and it was sitting on the table Grant and I were sitting at.
"Nothing, I'm just tired and cold." She inhaled deeply as she stretched before grabbing the milk and cereal.
"Believe me, once we set foot outside you'll find that won't be the case." Grant said in a happy, playful tone.
"So? Is there any wishes that we will be fulfilling here?" Grant turned to me as Katelyn started eating.
"Yes, of course! Wish number eight, collect shells and get a tan." I paused for a moment before remembering a side note I had written on my bucket list. "Oh, there's also a rule we have to follow." I smiled at Grant, waiting for him to question what I meant but he just raised an eyebrow.
"We can't get stung by a jellyfish." Grant's eyes widened at the word "stung".
"There's jellyfish in the ocean here?" Grant ask, seemingly terrified of that thought.
"Of course there's jellyfish here. It's the fuckin' ocean, you fuck face. Where else would they be? In the jungle?" Katelyn spoke up finally.
"Why don't you fight me, Katelyn?" Grant playfully rolled his eyes at her statement.
"To answer your question seriously, yes there are jellyfish here. They aren't poisonous but they can brush by you and sting you. Most of them don't attach to you though. I did my research on all this, and my friend has been here and she's been stung by one." I said as I ate my last bite of cereal.
"Now I feel like a pussy for not wanting to get in that water anymore." Grant spoke in a matter-of-fact tone with a weird look on his gorgeous face.
"Well, you don't have to. You can stay inside all day or just sit on the beach and not enjoy the trip!" Katelyn smiled brightly at Grant, no hint of sarcasm in her tone.
"No. I'll go. I won't be a pussy. I can do this." As everyone had finally finished breakfast, we discovered newfound determination. We gathered our stuff and headed to the beach. As we made it outside and to our designated chairs that we had rented, Grant grabbed my hand and started running towards the beach.
"Let's go darling. Let us enjoy every moment in our life like it's our last."
