10| Wish 9

The trip to the beach had been wonderful. Katelyn and I had joined together and grew our sisterly bond. Grant and I spent more time together, laughing and bonding over funny videos (as one does). I was sad that it was over, but a lifetime of memories had been made. We had made it back home safe and sound, and I told Grant I needed a few days to set up my next wish.

This was a plan I had been making for years, a surprise birthday party for my sister. She was turning sixteen in a few days, and I wanted to make it something for her to remember for the rest of her life. Someone's sweet sixteen, as many people called it, had been hell for me. My parents had been debating a divorce and my dog had died the same day as my sixteenth birthday.

"Storm? You okay?" Speak of the Devil, I smiled up as I saw my sisters face in my doorway.

"Yeah. I guess I was staring off in the distance, wasn't I?" She snorted and nodded.

"I'm making lunch, what do you want?" She mentioned before heading away from my door and down to the kitchen. Typical of her to not wait for an answer. I followed her, getting off my bed and walking out of my room.

Once I had made it to the kitchen she was already grabbing pans to cook whatever she wanted to eat. I was actually surprised she had ask me what I wanted.

"Once again, what do you want?" She turned around violently but started laughing. I swear she could never keep a straight face.

"Mac and cheese, as usual." I smiled back and she nodded and turned back around.

"Oh! Also do you feel like helping me set up a small fence out front? Mom and dad said that Aunt Trixie needs us to keep her dog, Xenon." Katelyn ask as she turned around to face me once again.

"Yeah, I'm up to that." I smiled at her as she smiled genuinely back at me.

"Have you and Grant completed your ninth wish yet?" I laughed slightly at Katelyn as she had no idea what my ninth wish was.

"No, but we're close to finishing it." And that was the truth. I had already set a day for the party and had already sent out invitations, and I had gotten her all her presents already. So I was completely ready for this party. Little did she know, Aunt Trixie's dog, Xenon, wasn't the dog coming down here. It just happened to be one of his puppies coming down to stay for it was going to be hers.

"Well, let's get this started, shall we?" Katelyn said in a fake British accent and I laughed and nodded.

Later that night, Katelyn and I had put up the small fence in the front yard for her "soon to be dog" to stay in. I had also wrapped all of her birthday gifts and hid them in a pocket of my closet that only my mom knew about. Now all I had to do was wait for the next day and that was when the real party began.

Saturday-the day of her party-had finally come. I had set up everything that I could without her noticing, but I had to let my mom take care of the rest while I took Katelyn out of the house and into town. Grant was also going to stay and help my mom set up for the party.

"Hey, Kat? Are you ready?" I yelled to my sister who was still upstairs in her room while I was at the front door tapping my foot impatiently.

"Yeah, hold on just a sec." I heard her yell back even though it was muffled through her bedroom door.

Finally I saw her almost stumble down the stairs and down to the first floor. She was wearing heels, which she hardly ever did, and wasn't being very careful in them. She had on a short red dress and silver heels with her hair down. As much as I'd hate to admit, she looked very beautiful.

"Finally, it took you forever to dress up for nothing." I rolled my eyes, keeping on an attitude like I had completely forgotten about her birthday, though she didn't seem to angered by my attitude.

"Yeah, yeah, quit being a bitch, and let's go." She mirrored my actions by rolling her eyes and brushing my statement off as she squeezed past me and opened the door. I followed her, getting in the car and pulling out, knowing when we got back Katelyn would have the time of her life.

When we arrived home, no vehicles were around, not even my parents car. Katelyn got out of the passenger side of my vehicle and began towards the door.

"Where's mom and dad?" She seemed to just notice as she turned around and looked at me questioningly.

"I think they both had overtime today." I smiled back at her just now making my way away from my car.

"Oh... I thought. Never mind." She seemed to be disappointed, but she kept walking towards the house. She wouldn't be disappointed once she entered the house.

"You do realize I'm the one that has the keys to unlock the house right?" I ask from behind her and she turned around and flipped me off.

"Then hurry the fuck up. I have things to do." I laughed slightly at her now pouty nature as she thinks mom and dad won't be home.

"I'm coming so chill."

I turned the keys in the lock of the door and pulled them out. I stepped over and held an arm out for Katelyn to open the door. She rolled her eyes but grabbed the door handle. My face lit up as she opened the door and a unison of voices could be heard screaming out the door at my little sister.

"Happy (mother fucking) Birthday!" I heard everyone but Grant scream two words, but he had to add his own touch.

Katelyn screamed back but once she realized what was happening she looked over to me and pointed to them with tears in her eyes and a smile on her face. I smiled back at her and nodded, confirming her suspicion that this was my ninth wish.

"Thank you, sister. Thank you." Her arms incased me in a tight hug.

"I love you, Storm. I love you so freaking much. You're the best sister I could've ask for." Tears began to form in my eyes as I smiled at her kind words. She may be sarcastic most of the time but I knew those words came straight from her heart.

"Please, don't ever leave me." She whispered and I knew the hidden meaning behind her statement that brought tears to my eyes.

"I won't little sister. I'll always be living in your heart no matter where I go."
