Chapter 3: Meeting Harp

Later that week we were almost to the Witch's castle when we were attacked by Harpies.

"Looked out!" James yelled at me as shifted into his Werewolf form. He grabbed me an bolted.

"James! Jump into that tree!" I yelled.

"You got it!" He yelled. With one giant leap, we were high above the fighting. I was too scared of the Harpies to move. I latched onto James as he began to climb down.

"No! James I'm..."

"Shh it's okay. I'll be back," he said.

He patted my head gently and jumped down. I watch the fighting from my hiding spot in the tree. I wanted to help but, when I was too scared. Suddenly, someone grabbed me from behind.

"I found the girl!" Called a male Harpy.

"Hehehe! Well done my son!" The Queen Harpy laughed.

"Thank you Mother," Harpy boy said bowing.

"Shut up! You are not the one I was talking to!" His mother yelled.

"You're just a little brat who was a mistake!" Another male Harpy yelled at him.

"Yes brother..." the Harpy that held me said.

"Lady Cecilia!!" James screamed as he leapt towards us. The Harpy boy holding me, flew up and out of the way of James' attack.

"James! Help!" I screamed.

"Hang on girl. This is going be a little rough," the Harpy boy said. We shot up high into the sky. I cringed as I saw how high up we were.

"You okay?" The boy asked turning me around so I wouldn't be scared.

"I don't like heights," I said nervously.

"Don't worry. I promise I won't drop you," the Harpy said.

"Can I trust you?" I asked.

"Yes," he said with a big smile.

"I'm Cecilia. What's your name?" I asked.

"Harp. My name's Harp," he said.

"Okay Harp. Why did your brother and mom act so harshly towards you?" I asked.

Harp fell silent.

"Harp?" I asked.

"I'm only adopted. Their not my real family," Harp said sounding quite sad.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you," I said.

"It's fine... We're here. Promise me you'll stay close?" He asked.

"I promise," I said as we landed.

"Harp! Get your butt over here!" Harp's brother yelled.

Harp groaned.

"Now Harp!" His brother yelled again.

"I'm coming," Harp said. I clung to Harp. This made Harp's brother smile.

"Come here girl," Harp's brother said.

"No!" I cried as he grabbed my arm.

"Let her go Harry!" Harp yelled shoving his brother away and yanking me back into his arms. I clung to Harp once again.

Angry at Harp, Harry took out his sword and swung it at us. Harp turned and shielded me from the blade. Harp's shirt was the only thing hit.

"Harp!" I cried.

"I'm fine. Are you hurt?" Harp asked.

"No," I said.

I stared at Harp's perfectly sculpted body. Harp took off the remaining bit of his shirt, grabbed me and flew off.

"Harp! Come back!!" yelled Harry.

Harp's Mother shook her head. "Let him go," she commanded.

"But Mother?! The girl?!" Harry shouted.

"Never mind that. She's of no use to us if she's not under my spell. Until we can get her alone and I've cast my spell upon her, we'll let Harp live," she said. Then she laughed wickedly at the idea of her adopted nuisance of a son death.

"Yes Mother," Harry said.

Meanwhile, Harp and I had landed at an abandoned church to rest. Harp lead me to the church and tried to get me to go inside. I shook my head.

"I'm too afraid!" I cried.

"Please don't be?" Harp begged.

"What if they come after us?! I don't want to be alone. I don't have my Priestess bow! I can't defend myself without it!" I shouted trying so hard not to burst into tears.

"Then I won't leave you," Harp said.

"Promise?" I asked.

"I promise," Harp said with a gentle smile.

I was still clinging to Harp when we entered the church's graveyard to find help. Tired from my journey and everything else, Harp had me lay down on a bench. That's when James and Janet arrived.
