TWENTY FOUR
"It's a one bedroom? Seriously?"
"But it's a house! And Its just me living there." I laughed. "I have no furniture and will have to buy all new stuff, so why not make it as simple as possible?"
"So who are we meeting?"
"There is a realtor that Jin suggested, he says she works with idols a lot, so I figured if You or Jimin came with me it wouldn't be a huge deal. But she isn't going to be there because the front door has a smart lock on it, and its unlocked by a code."
"Genius." He said kissing my cheek.
Wonho and the driver were up front and when we were coming up in the neighborhood, I almost fell in love. They put the temporary gate code the realtor gave me, and when the gates opened up everything you could see was bright and oh so very beautiful. There were two fountains by the entrance, and every few turns you took there were more. I knew the place I was looking at was near the back, so I was loving the view to get there.
"This is nice!" Hoseok said as he looked around. "I've never been here."
"Really?" I asked. "She said it's a home to a lot of idols which is why security is tight. They don't want just anyone to be able to get in."
"So are you buying?"
"No. I am renting. Originally, I thought it would just be for 6 months, but now I have to talk to the realtor and see if I can do longer. With Jimin down and out for 6 months I might as well make it a full year while he is recovering."
"Does he know?"
"That I'm looking for places? No. I have not told him. I didn't want to get his hopes up too much until I found a place. I thought about asking him to join me looking for one, but it would be far too much strain on his leg."
"So, you set this up before the tour?"
"Well, there was some downtime on the tour that I got to looking at places, Jin caught me, and then gave me Jamie's number. She isn't going to be here, but there is a code lock on the door to get in. She gave me a temporary code to unlock the door, kind of like the front gate."
"I believe this is it." Wonho said as we pulled into a drive way. It was a small little cottage like house, with an attached garage to the right side. There were flowers, and a walk way to the front door that was vibrant and beautiful.
When we got out, we walked up to the front door and noticed there was a chair swing on a very large porch that we all the way around the house. Before we went inside we followed around to the back were there was a hot tub and a smaller garden. The back porch had a sunroof where the hot tub was sitting and a very open space for outdoor furniture.
"Damn." Hoseok said.
"And we have not even gone inside yet."
We made our way back around and when I punched in the code, we were mat with a beautiful scent and a nice cool breeze from the air conditioning. There was a small knook where we were standing, and when we walked futher forward there was a living room. This was a huge living room for a one bedroom house, much larger than I expected. It wrapped around and had plenty of open windows. On one side you could see where the kitchen was and the other side had a door and a hallway. We first went into the kitchen, a small island in the middle but plenty big enough for just me. Full appliances, dishwasher, and even a smart refrigerator.
Hoseok started moving to the other side while Wonho and the driver continued a conversation leaning up against the nook.
The door that was on the far side of the living room looked to be an office space. Simple; nothing too extravagant about it, but a nice space to have. I then went to find Hoseok who had found the master bedroom.
"This is nice." He grinned as he laid down in the middle of the floor. "You can fit a king size bed here. You can mount a huge TV there..." He said pointing to in front of him. "...and then you still have enough room for night stands and a dresser under the tv."
"Oh are you decorating for me?"
"Shit, I would." He laughed. I looked at the closet, which was a nice walk in, a little deeper than I needed, but that wasn't a problem.
Then I walked back out into the hallway and the bathroom was gorgeious. White and gray marbled flooring and walls, with a stand up shower and a separated bathtub on one side. Then the counter had two sinks, and a mirror so large that it nearly took up the whole wall.
"What do you think?" Hoseok asked me.
"I love it." I laughed. "Its perfect."
"Call the lady!" he encouraged me. "Don't let anyone else look at it, just tell her yes."
I rolled my eyes and pulled out my phone. I really didn't need to look anywhere else. This back house had only one neighbor, as it was at the end of a dead end area, and it was the owner of this small house they were renting out.
When she answered, I started to get more excited about setting down roots here.
"Jamie Bldor"
"Hi Jamie, I'm at the house right now with a friend."
"Oh great! Don't you just love it!?"
"That is why I'm calling. I know I asked for a 6 month lease, but it looks like some things have changed. Are the owners wiling to do a longer lease?"
"Oh that's great! How long are you thinking?"
"Maybe like...12 months?"
"Are you willing to go longer?"
"Maybe, I just need to know the details."
"I think the owner is home right now actually. Do you mind talking with him face to face?"
"Well Hoseok is with me." I said, when his face went a little pale.
She laughed. "Don't worry, this guy is really very professional."
"Are you okay with that?" I asked Hoseok.
"I guess." He said pulling out a mask and putting it on.
"Fantastic. I will call him and have him meet you over there."
When we hung up, we let the other two know if the plan, which made Wonho a little uneasy.
"We have never met this guy before." He said.
"I know, but Jin recommended Jamie Bldor" I reminded him. "Knowing that Jimin or someone would be with me. I don't think she would recommend him coming over here if she thought anything of it."
He rolled his eyes but didn't protest further. It wasn't too long after that there was a knock at the front, then the door opening.
"Hi there." He said giving a small wave.
"Hey!" I waved back. "You must be my new possible landlord."
"That I am." He said, shaking my hand and giving me a bright smile. "My name is Daniel, me and my wife SooJi live across the street on the other side of the dead end."
"Its very nice to meet you. Jamie said that if I had lease questions that you and I should talk face to face."
"Great! What can I help with?"
Daniel was super friendly and very flexible. He suggested me to do an 18 month lease with month to month afterwards. He said by signing a longer lease term he would wave my deposit and would be sure to install cameras on the exterior of the home.
"Why do you want to do that?" Wonho asked.
"Well sir, I know exactly who you all are." He replied, He then turned to Hoseok. "You don't have to wear that maske for me, Mr. Jung, I know how to keep a person's privacy. My brother in law is an idol."
"Who?" Hoseok asked, taking his mask off.
They spoke briefly together. Turns our Hoseok has actually worked with his brother before on a collab a few years back. His brother has retired his idol carreer but it was very clear that Daniel knew what privacy was.
"I think the cameras are a good idea." Hoseok said, bringing the conversation back around.
"Yes, and you will have full access to them. They will be motion censored and you can view them from your phone. I will also have access to them as a safety back up, and of course if your team needs access we can accommodate that as wel."
"When can I sigh the lease?" I asked, anxious to get this in motion.
The paperwork took about an hour. I paid for my first month, but told him I wouldn't be moving in right away. He was flexible with the move in date, knowing I had to buy a lot to furnish the home.
He showed us how the hot tub worked, explained the maintenance and landscaping would be contracted out like his own home. I signed the lease electronically and gained a copy for myself.
I had 30 days before I has official residence, and I was very excited.
Once we were in the car, I felt it all kind of settle on me. This was going to be my home for the foreseeable future.
I cant wait to tell Jimin!
It took a few days for Jimin to be in a better headspace.
But that was alright by me.
I was spending most of my time shopping for my new home.
I even purchased a new kind size bed for my new bedroom.
Daniel was a saint because he allowed me to have everything shipped to the house and let in whoever needed to be let in.
Jin also helped. He found a group of people who where able to put together all the new furniture so I didn't have to.
It had been about a week before I felt confident enough to speak to Jimin about my plan. He was in higher spirits and we were all having a nice dinner in the living room.
"I have an announcement." I proclaimed loudly.
Jin gave me a smile as he knew what I was going to say. I was a little nervous. I really hoped this made Jimin happy.
"What is it Noona?" Jimin asked, taking another bite of his veggies.
"I found a one bedroom house." I told him, his eyes going wide. "Its in the RiverLook neighborhood about 20 minutes outside of the city."
"Taemin lives there." Taehyung added, taking a bite of his food.
"I didn't know that." Jin replied.
"And?" Jimin asked looking at me with his big eyes.
"Its at the end of a deadend, the landlord lives across the street, otherwise it is pretty much by itself, and I signed a lease." I shrugged.
The room erupted with cheer, Jimin putting his food down. "You're staying? For how long?"
"Well, my lease is for 18 months, and then we agreed month to month after that."
Just then he lept from his seat next to me wrapping his arms around me. "Noona!" he Yelled, laughing with a few sobs.
I hugged him back tightly. He was so warm and his tight embrace said way more than his words could ever say. It was then that I knew I would never be able to be away from him as long as I had. His hug was grateful and needy, the small shakes of his sobs were happy and relieved.
He needed his sister.
Despite having this brothers here, he needed me too.
And maybe something deep inside of me needed him. I had been alone for so long that maybe I didn't notice how lonely I had become. We were really the only family we had left of each other.
I should have done this a long time ago.
I felt my own arms tightening, and a few happy tears escaped my eye lids before we let go.
"Noona. Does that mean that you will be able to go on tours with us all the time?" Jungkook asked looking between Jin and I.
I shrugged. "I don't think that is really up to me."
"We will see." Jin said finishing his drink. "Now that she will be local, and since she is now in the publics eye, she may be able to."
"How much is your rent?" Namjoon asked.
"A lot." I laughed. "But I have the money and its so worth it. Security, privacy, a hot tub."
"Party at Noonas!" Jimin shouted!
The rest of the night was enjoyable. The boys all talking and acting as if they were not famous idols with a crazy life. Just hanging out with friends having a good time.
One by one they all started to dissipate. Jin and Yoongi leaving first, then Namjoon, then Jungkook.
"Alright, I think it's my tur to head in." Hoseok said. I will see you all tomorrow.
I waved a small wave, smiling widely. I thought, maybe things could work out between the two of us. Now that I decided to stay, just...maybe.
"They are the cutest couple." Tae said with a sigh.
"Who?" Jimin asked, making me turn back to them.
"Hobi and Noona. Don't you see it?"
"Uh, no." Jimin said, his tone cold.
"You can not sit there and tell me that the two of them wouldn't make a super cute couple. They have been sitting next to each other all night, and all I wanted him to do was to put his arm over her."
"And I'd kill him if he did." Jimin replied.
"Why?" I asked, both of them looking over at me. "He's one of your best friends and a really good man, why would you kill him for that?"
"We've been over this."
"True but it never really made sense."
"Do you like Hoseok or something?"
"Jimin, that isn't relevant to the question. You continue to speak as if you have say in who I date or who I don't. I've tried to not fight about this, but I'm getting really tired of it." I made sure to speak sharply. I was honestly getting over his attitude and the fact that he thought he could make decisions for me. I really didn't want to end this night with a fight. But if he wanted to act this way, this is what he was getting.
"I'm just saying no idols." He replied.
"And I'm just saying its not your choice."
"You have no idea what its like to have to hide your relationship Noona. I don't want that for you. That's not why I wanted you to stay. Find someone who you can flaunt and be proud of."
"Jimin," Tae started with a soft voice. "She is going to get the idol treatment regardless. She's out as your sister."
"Its not the same and you know that."
Taehyung looked defeated. I know he had felt bad about what Jimin was going through, but he looked like he just didn't want to argue.
"You know who also tried to tell me who I could and could not date?" I asked Jimin making him look back over to me. "Our father."
"That's not fair." He said.
"How is what you are saying fair to me?"
"I'm just trying to protect you!"
"I don't need protecting Jimin!"
"You do too!" He shouted. "Why else would you have come here?"
There was silence in the room, and finally something that had not been said, was boldly taking up the space between us.
"I have been on my own taking care of my self for a long, long time. I came here because I wanted to be near you not because I needed to. Not because I needed your money. Is that what you think?"
He looked exasperated and ran his fingers through his hair. "Of course not."
"Then why the fuck would you say that?"
"I didn't mean it like that."
"Right. Well, I'm going to bed before this escalates even more."
I got up, Jimin protests echoing through the room, and walked down the hallway. Hoseok was standing in the doorway. We made eye contact, but I just didn't want to talk about what just happened.
I got in my room, and found a little more urgency in myself to get he hell out of this dorm and into my own house.
