FOUR
When I woke up the next morning, it was eerily quiet. I found a note next to my bed from Yoongi, saying there was breakfast in the refrigerator and it just needed some heating up.
I took my time getting up, my entire body sore and achy. I showered, changed and put my hair in a messy bun with a bit of mascara on my eye lashes so I looked at lease slightly presentable. I ate, and just let the silence of my surroundings consume me.
It was so peaceful.
Washing my dishes, there was a coffee maker that caught my eye. It was small, but I could really use some coffee to help wake me up from such a deep sleep. The coffee was hidden in one of the cabinets, and the spout just needed to be rinsed off, but it worked perfectly.
By the time I was pouring a cup, I heard some footsteps coming my way.
I looked over to see Jin, texting on his phone as he came into the kitchen.
"Morning!"
"AY A!" He shouted, his whole body jerking as he nearly dropped his phone.
I giggled when he started taking deep breaths holding his hand to his heart as he closed his eyes. "I didn't mean to scare you." I giggled.
"It's fine, I just forgot you were here."
"Coffee?" I asked.
"Oh, please." He replied.
I bit my lip and got down another coffee cup filling his up. "Cream and sugar?"
"Just cream please." He replied, then took a seat at the table.
Once I fixed his coffee, I joined him sitting to his left, and handing him his drink. "I call it, "Noona's Morning Scare." I teased making him laugh.
"I have been conditioned to be a little jumpy being around Jungkook so much."
"You'd think that you would be used to it if he would mess with you so much."
"The little shit is sneaky." He defended making me laugh.
"Actually, I'm going down to the studio this afternoon around 2. Hoseok needed Jimin's help solidifying some choreo for their tour in a few months and Jungkook will be there too now. Would you like to go with me? See your brother in action?"
"Yeah, that would be great!" I said excitedly. "I've seen his concerts and stuff but with me working as often as I was, I only got to see them online. I'm really excited to be able to actually go to one."
"Well you couldn't have picked a better time." He smiled. "They have a 5 city tour at the end of your visit and the company has agreed to let you travel with him and cover the expenses. They liked the idea of announcing that you are his sister instead of trying to hide you when you're with everyone. It makes it so much easier."
"Great." I smiled. "I remember when I saw him backstage at one of his concerts, I had a hell of a time actually getting to him even though I had a pass and everything."
"I remember that. We were supposed to meet you that weekend and then Jungkook got hurt."
I nodded. "I was happy to hear he recovered so quickly but disappointed it took me so long to meet you all. Jimin and I text a lot and he always talks about how happy he is. It makes me happy too."
"He told us all about what you did you know."
"I only did what sisters are supposed to do."
"Well at the expense of your own family turning their back on you."
"I'm indifferent about it."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, on one hand I'm disappointed that my parents couldn't support both of their children in their hopes and dreams. But I was never really a dreamer, Jimin was. I conformed to what my father wanted me to do, and because of that he offered to pay for everything. Every month I would send him a break down of all my expenses and every month he would wire money into my account. He never gave a penny of it to Jimin. So, I told him that I was taking on more classes and joined an intern program and it would double my monthly expenses. So, he tripled his deposits."
"But you didn't."
"Technically more classes were taken, and an intern program was joined...just not by me." I smiled. "Jimin has been dancing since he was a kid. I always loved watching him. He's an extremely passionate person, and he uses his body to express it in ways that no one could understand. He deserves everything he got. All the hard work he put into what he has now, his fame, his fortune; he deserves all of the love."
"He does." Jin agreed taking a sip of his coffee. "He works hard and he's good at what he does." He paused, looking up at me as if he was holding back something.
"What?"
"Do...do you know about his past...health problems."
"Yes." I said quickly. "But they are past health problems...right?"
"Oh, yes. He hasn't had any issues like that since debut. I just...I don't know. I guess it's none of my business whether you knew or know, but you're the only family he has. He never talks about your mother or father much."
"Nothing much to talk about. My mother passed away before Jimin debuted and my father is now married and taking care of his new family. When I told him that I quit my 6-figure job he scolded me and called me a disappointment and a true waste of money."
"Waste of money for Jimin?"
"No, for me. My education and my bills. I told him I wanted to search for what I actually enjoyed doing and not what makes me the most money."
"Does he know what you did? That you were paying for Jimin's trainee days?"
"Yes." I said. "That's one of the reasons that I was estranged from him to begin with. He was angry at me, but in the same conversation I told him I was hired at a huge law firm and he 'forgave me.'"
"Your father sounds like a piece of work."
"He's just never done anything to make himself happy."
"It sounds like maybe you haven't either." He said, raising an eye brow and drinking more of his coffee.
"I would say you are right. I saw a lot of traits of my father within me and there was a straw the broke the camel's back and I got out. I didn't want the hatred my dad hones to be part of me. So it was the perfect time to get out before it got to me."
"What did you do for the lawfirm?"
"I revised and analyzed different contracts with high end companies."
"What does that mean?"
"It means...well for example. Your company. If you needed heavy duty attorneys on your side, we would be your go to. If something happened to any of your idols, or producers, or even you Jin, our team would defend you in court and win. But contracts are put in place and because the firm would be on constant stand by there are annual and active fees. The firm was very expensive and they paid me well to do my job."
"Other than the familiar personality traits to your father, why did you leave? If you were happy you wouldn't have left, would you?"
"My direct supervisor made a pass at me. When I didn't take the pass he got angry, and the environment became hostile. I needed to get out of there. Jimin doesn't know this part, but I sold everything I had, even my house. I am sitting good financially and have minimal bills so I'm in no hurry at this point to find a job. I'm not sure if I'll stay in the city near Jimin or if I'll travel. With Jimin being on tour and working as much as he does, I would like to have a foundation near him but he'd be gone so much."
"I see the dilemma." He nodded, making me nod in return. "You're here for 9 weeks, right? You plan to stay until right before the tour?"
"That was the plan. But maybe I'll be around longer if I'm allowed to go on the tour." I smiled.
"Maybe once the tour is over I can introduce you to our company CEO. If you're as good as you say you are, maybe we can get you the best of both words."
"What do you mean?"
"A job, that would require you to travel with Jimin."
I was shocked at that. "Really?"
He nodded. "I don't want to promise anything. It would depend a lot on how the next few months go and the tour of course. But, if its possible, I would put in a word."
"Wow."
"Just don't say anything to Jimin. I don't want to give him any false hope."
He took another sip of his coffee, leaving me momentarily speechless. But I had to ask. "Why would you do that for me?"
He put his up down before sighing and looking back up to me. "There is a lot that you don't know about Jimin and his journey over the last two years. Not out of ignorance, please don't get me wrong. But I'm sure you know better than anyone that Jimin does not like to open up about what bothers him to others. He feels as if he is a burden. He saved this group a while back and I owe him a lot. I think it would be good for him to have you around as much as possible and if I can do that for him, I will. So, I say this with as much respect as I can, Noona. I wouldn't be doing it for you. I would be doing it for Jimin."
I smiled and took a sip of my coffee before responding. "I like you."
He laughed. "Just wait until you get to know me better. You'll really love me." He then winked at me, making me break out into more of a laughter.
It was easy to talk to Jin. He was fun to talk to actually and the rest of the morning we continued our conversation. He told me about how he got involved with the group to begin with. Apparently, his father was also a CEO, and always encouraged him to follow his dreams. His dreams were a little different than most. He wanted to encourage others to be the best they could be, and that's how he became the group's manager. He started seeing Yoongi because he was roommates with him when he first started with this company. One thing led to another and they became what they are.
"He said he only kissed me to shut me up, but I feel like that's only half the truth."
He told me a lot about the other's that Jimin works with every day.
His boyfriend, Yoongi, had been an idol earlier in his life. But he chose to take the back seat and become a producer with his best friend Namjoon. They were the ones that wrote a lot of their songs, produced all of them, and helped when the members wanted to write or compose. Namjoon and Yoongi both were musical geniuses, and their work complimented each other well, while at the same time had distinctly different sounds.
Jungkook was the youngest of all of them, and was actually recruited by Namjoon. He wanted to be like Namjoon, producing music, but ended up being a dancing machine with a voice that was gifted by the angels. Once Jungkook was old enough, their friendship moved to something a little more than what it was before, and they had been together ever since.
Taehyung was accidentally added to the group. He came with a friend for auditions and asked to audition himself. It was the best accident that ever happened to him, or the company. He was a well-rounded person, kind hearted, talented, and had a musical ear that not very many people had. He was able to assist with a lot of the composition of their music, frequently working with Yoongi on the melody of each song.
He told me about Jimin. Who, worked harder than anyone to get to where he was. He mentioned that he struggled more than anyone as well, but always persevered and succeeded.
It hurt a little to know that he struggled so much but felt good to know it was worth it, and that he was happy.
"What about Hoseok?" I asked.
Jin smirked, giving me his full attention. "Hoseok was a dancer before he joined the company. He was recruited by Namjoon as well. He is a very happy person for the most part. Everyone has their downs from time to time but Hoseok brings the group together. He's the leader in fact. Actually, I think he is more of a brother to Jimin than anyone else in our little group. He's the one that saved Jimin from himself on more than one occasion. He pushes Jimin, but also teaches him how to not over do it. He's a good man." He paused, his smirk growing into a wide grin. "He's handsome too." He said.
That threw me off momentarily as I locked my eyes with Jin. There was a teasing undertone to his gaze, and it made me tilt my head. "Why would that matter?" I asked.
He shrugged. "Just in case you wanted my opinion."
"You are all handsome." I said, trying to keep myself from smiling. "I nearly lost my breath when I saw your boyfriend. His eyes so deep and brooding. Like every girl's dream bad boy."
He laughed at that. "Yeah, he does have that dark and mysterious look to him doesn't he?"
I nodded. "Lucky you."
"Lucky Jimin." He laughed.
"Oh yes. Jimin told me how much he likes him. Do you think they make a good pair; you know them so well?"
"Taehyung and Jimin? Absolutely. They are soulmates."
I smiled and felt a relief flow through me. It made me overwhelmingly happy to know that Jimin was happy here. Happy with his job, his goals, his dreams, his career. But even more so that he had this family of brothers, and a lover that was a soulmate.
"That makes me really happy." I told Jin, trying to hold back my tears.
"So Hoseok though..."
"What about him?" I asked, his distraction working.
"He could use a friend." He shrugged. "Being the only single one in a sea of men can be a little isolating."
"He seems perfectly fine with it."
"Maybe." He nodded. "But that doesn't mean you cant get to know him."
"I feel like you're hinting at something, and Jin dear, just fucking say it."
He laughed a little louder, making me chuckle along with him. "I like you."
"In a few weeks, you'll love me."
"Touche." He laughed finishing his coffee. "To put in bluntly, Hoseok hasn't been able to stop staring at you since you got here. I see the lusty and flirty eyes. So if it interests you, flirt back. It will be fun to see him being teased. He's very easily flustered."
"He is?"
"Yep."
Jin had an evil grin on his face, making my grin mimic the mischievous nature of his own.
I am really starting to like Jin
