Tuesday morning

Adriana's pov

I woke up early today, school doesn't start before 9am and it's currently 7h30, it's still a little dark outside but not much, I tried to get back to sleep but my brain doesn't want to, great.

So instead of trying and failing, I decided to go take a shower, my knee still hurts since yesterday, I can't stop thinking about what I saw on jerk face, guilt, something he had never felt before, to my knowledge.

I am probably delusional.

At least today I can take a long shower.

Once I'm done, I change into my today's outfit, a baggy hoodie and a short skirt.

I do my make up and I put my hair up in a messy bun.

It was already 8h40, I spent more than 25 minutes in the bathroom, wow.

I call Kayla to see if she's coming to pick me up but she can't she will be coming late to school, because she has a dentist appointment.

Great now I have two options.

Number 1: go to school with my brother, but jerk face is going to be with him, and I don't really want to see him after yesterday, seriously?, who am I kidding, I never want to see his face.

Number 2: walk 20 minutes.

I don't really want to walk so I guess I will have to go with my brother, and besides, my knee still hurts so I can't walk for this long.

"Ashton" I yell coming down the stairs, "can you drive me to school today?" I ask him.

"Aren't you going with Kayla?" does he have to answer my question by a question.

"Think a little bit, if I was going with Kayla why would I ask you for a ride?" I tell him hands on my hips.

"Fine, but Jace is going to be here and I don't want you two arguing, and what happened to your knee?" I feel like I'm being interrogated by my own brother.

"Ask jerk face I'm sure he'll tell you" I say sarcastically, I am sure that jerk face is going to blame all of this on me.

I start walking towards the car when my brother stops me.

"We are going to be late if we don't leave now" I tell him.

"Why didn't you answer yesterday?" He asks curiously.

"I don't understand" I do understand.

"Stop lying, why don't you call Jace by his first name? I have never heard you say his name before" He adds.

Before I try to save myself with some lame excuse, jerk face enters the living room and looks between me and Ashton.

"Am I interrupting some brother sister talk?" He asks.

"Nope not at all" I say popping the 'p'.

My brother doesn't know what happened in the past, I am not ready, and I will never be ready to tell him that, I had a crush on his best friend, and that the next day, he started treating me like sh*t and talk rudely to me, and that my knee was bleeding because of him, it would ruin their friendship, even if I don't like jerk face, he is my brother's best friend and I don't want to ruin that.

But there is another reason why I don't call him by his name and it's-

I pulled myself out of my thoughts, my phone buzzing, it's Sophia texting me.

Sophia: Hey! Are you coming today?

Adriana: Yeah, we are just late, we will arrive in like 4 to 5 minutes.

Sophia: Okay! See you then!

Adriana: See ya!:)

The car ride was silent, I knew that my brother was staring at me, the atmosphere was tense, jerk face was sitting in the passenger seat clearly uncomfortable and confused.

"You and I are going to talk later Adriana" I hear my brother saying.

"About?" my acting is really bad.

"You know about what, unless you want me to say it right now, right here, in the car, at loud." He is in a very bad mood.

I glance at jerk face who was already looking at me frowning his eyebrows in confusion, he is puzzled.

I quickly turn my gaze to my brother, he looked, sad, confused, mad, guilty, curious and worried.

The atmosphere is so tense, I could choke on it.

"There's nothing to discuss, now if you'll excuse me, I have classes waiting for me" I said getting out of the car without letting my brother say anything else.

This is the first time that I wished I was in class instead of dealing with this very awkward moment.

As I walked into the empty hallways, the bell rang and soon the hallways were filled with students.

I see Sophia and make my towards her.

"Where were you??" She asks worriedly.

"I had to deal with something, but it's not important" Of course it is.

"Oh okay, let's get to class" I knew that Sophia didn't believe me, but she knew that I wasn't ready to open up, so I am happy that she let go easily.

Sophia doesn't know everything that happened with jerk face, only Kayla knew, because when it happened Sophia was in a different school, but 2 years ago she came back, and I didn't tell her, I just didn't want to bring up the past.

~At lunch~

"Hey!!" Kayla said sitting down across from me and Sophia "What did I miss?" She adds.

"You were only gone for 2 hours, what could have possibly happened?" Sophia answers.

Yeah what could have happened right?

Kayla notices and gives me the 'we'll talk later' look. I nod.

After lunch, classes went by quickly, and I just arrived home, I opened the door and I saw my brother waiting for me. Great.

"Hey Ashton" I pause "I hope you had a good day, I'm going to my bedroom, I'm really tired and I have a lot of homework" I start to walk up the stairs, but Ashton grabs me by the wrist and drags me to the living room.

"Sit" Is the only thing he says, and I do as he asks.

"What's up?" I ask trying to lighten up the mood.

"Why don't you call Jace by his first name?" okay straight to the point I guess.

I don't say anything.

"I am going to ask you this one more time or else, I will call Jace and he will explain everything." Is he blackmailing me?

"Too bad he doesn't know why" I shrug my shoulders and start leaving.

"Could you just open up to your brother for once!" Clearly something happened between you and Jace, what is it!?" He asked very angry.

"No, no I can't open up for you! This jerk bro-" I cut myself off when I notice jerk face in the living room, tears were running down my cheeks. Was he there for the whole time?

My brother turns to face him "What did you do to my sister Jace?!!!."

Ashton was about to hit him when I said "STOP ASHTON!" he turns to look at me "you can't hit him when you don't know anything!"

"Then enlighten me! Tell me what happened in the past that I don't know about!" He yells.

"I can't I-" he cuts me off "No Adriana, you can but you won't!" He runs his hand through his fluffy brown hair "You know what, fine, don't say anything unless you're ready, I am tired of asking without receiving any answers, and the more I am finding out by myself, the more I am getting impatient so come see me when you're ready" Ashton tells me as he slams the front door shut.

Now that went great.

Jerk face is still here but I am way too overwhelmed with what just happened that I'm not even pay attention to him, I walk up the stairs and slam the door of my bedroom shut.
