Wednesday afternoon

Adriana's pov

"Hmm, I don't like this one" I say pointing to the black crop top Kayla is showing me.

"Ugh we have been on this for like an hour, there is nothing wrong with this crop top Adri!" Kayla whines.

Basically after what happened today with jerk face, I went up to my bedroom took a shower, and then I heard someone knocking on the front door, Kayla and Sophia were finally here, we wanted to get ready together to go to the movies, I don't know if I can look at jerk face anymore, we've had some awkward moments but never like this, so here we are in my bedroom picking our outfits, Kayla and Sophia already picked theirs, but I just don't like my stuff.

"We are not spending the whole night picking an outfit Adriana" Sophia adds.

"Ugh fine, I'll just wear this" I point at the white crop top and blue denim shorts.

"Finally!" Kayla sighs in relief.

We all change into our outfits, do our make up and hair, voila.

Kayla is wearing a black hoodie and a short pink skirt.

Sophia is wearing a brown crop top with some design and blue ripped jeans.

"We've done a good job" The girls and I look at each other then at the mirror.

 I'm wearing a very basic makeup look, a lot of highlighter and a brown eye-shadow.

Kayla has more makeup on with eyeliner.^^^^

And Sophia has a very natural makeup on, it's like a no-makeup makeup. ^^^

"Are we ready to go?" I ask them as I take my purse.

"Yeah we good" Sophia answers and Kayla nods.

We walk downstairs to the kitchen and see Ashton pouring some OJ in a cup, and jerk face sitting on the counter his eyes glued to his phone.

"We're ready guys" I say making both of them look up.

"Okay I'll go get the car ready" Ashton says as he starts to leave the kitchen "Wait for me!" Kayla yells as she follows him, and so does Sophia, I was about to leave too but I've noticed jerk face frowning, something's wrong.

I sit on the counter next to him "Are you okay?" I ask him.

"Yeah it's just" He sighs "Nevermind, I'm fine" He answers vaguely.

"Okay I won't push it, I see that you're clearly not ready to talk so I'll meet you outside" I say as I jump off the counter trying to leave, keyword being 'trying', but jerk face grabs my arm and spins me around, I landed on his chest in between his legs, I look up at him and realize that our faces are inches apart, if one of us moves our lips would touch, how did we end up in this situation?

"Don't leave" He whispers tucking a strand of hair behind my ear making me shiver at his touch, why is he making me feel like this? It's probably because of how close we are, yeah.

"You said that you didn't want to talk" I whisper looking straight into his now dark eyes.

"But I didn't say leave" He answers cupping my cheek with his giant hand.

I sigh "You are so confusing" I answer as I play with a strand of his hair.

His body tenses at my touch "What are you doing to me Adriana?" He asks himself as he closes his eyes enjoying my touch.

"Guys come on!" Ashton yells from the front door making us jump apart from each other.

WAIT WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Jerk face and I look at each other, but I sprint out of the kitchen without saying another word.

"Where have you been?" Kayla asks me.

"You don't want to know, trust me" I say as I lean my head against the window.

The whole ride my mind was replaying what happened with jerk face, it wasn't the first time that this kinda thing happened, the living room, the kitchen, and the worst thing is that I'm enjoying it! I enjoyed straddling his lap and feeling his...against me, I enjoyed his touch in the kitchen! I'm getting attached to him again, this can't happen, why am I back to my senses now! Why couldn't I be more logic and serious back there in the kitchen! I can't think straight when he's in the same room as me, I don't think that I can handle being heartbroken again, whatever this is, it won't happen again, I'm not letting myself falling for him again.

Jace's pov

"Don't leave" I whisper tucking a strand of hair behind her ear making her shiver at my touch, why am I liking this effect I have on her??

"You said that you didn't want to talk" She whispers looking straight into my eyes.

She is beautiful.

"But I didn't say leave" I answer cupping her cheeks.

She sighs "You are so confusing" She answers as she plays with a strand of my hair.

My body tenses at her touch "What are you doing to me Adriana?" I ask myself as I close my eyes enjoying her touch.

"Guys come on!" Ashton yells from the front door making us jump apart from each other.

Adriana's pov

"Are you okay?" Kayla asks putting her hand on my shoulder.

"Where are we?" I ask rubbing my eyes.

"We just arrived at the movie theater" She says as she jumps out of the car.

Oh I have been sleeping.

"Yes you were indeed" She answers.

"Wait did I say that out loud?" I ask raising an eyebrow as we walk in the movie theater.

"Yea you did" She laughs.

"Where is everyone?" I question.

"They're already in the movie room, we are the one buying popcorn" She explains.

"Can't they buy some for themselves" I huff crossing my arms on my chest.

"Well, they said and I quote 'Where's the fun in that?' the worst part is that Sophia agreed" She answers as she takes the popcorn from the counter.

"Traitor" I say putting some popcorn in my mouth.

We arrive in front of the movie room, and I open the door, we look around the room and spot jerk face, Sophia and Ashton sitting in the middle seats, the only places left are one next to jerk face and one next to Sophia.

"Where do you want to sit?" Kayla asks me.

"Next to Sophia" I answer, I'm not ready to sit next to him or even look at him in the eyes.

"Too bad, you're sitting next to jerk face, bye bye" She waves at me before going to sit next to Sophia.

I can do this.

I make my way next to jerk face and smile at him awkwardly, he returns the smile and I sit down, I feel like these are going to be the longest 2 hours of my life.

"What kinda movie are we watching?" I ask breaking the awkward silence.

"Horror" He says smirking.

Oh no.

"Are you serious?" I ask nervously.

"Yep, ask Ashton if you'd like" He says popping the 'p'

If you didn't really understand what's going on, basically...since I'm young, I've never been a huge fan of horror movies, I know, I know, you're all gonna be like, 'wait really? You Adriana Valentina Jones, a very strong and confident girl, is actually scared of a horror movie?' Well yes, everyone is scared of something, don't judge, NO BULLY ZONE!

"Adriana, you okay?" Jerk face asks putting his hand on mine giving me goosebumps.

"Hum, yeah I'm fine" I answer vaguely pulling away my arm.

"Look Adriana-" I cut him off "Listen jerk face, I don't have a problem with us being friends again, but all of whatever this is" I point at us "it's done, over, whatever you want to call it, it was a mistake, alright? So please, know your place, you are my friend, only a friend nothing more, it hasn't been a month already since we're friends again, I still don't trust you, so please just stop" I say as I leave the movie room.

Weirdly it hurted a little bit, eh probably because he's my friend again and I probably hurt his feelings, but it had to be done, I'm already feeling bad for hurting him, so I know that I'm getting attached, this has to stop, being friends fine, but nothing more, I know that I'm pushing him away, and building up my walls even more, but I can't, really I just can't.

Jace's pov

"Look Adriana-" I start but she cuts me off "Listen jerk face, I don't have a problem with us being friends again, but all of whatever this is" I point at us "it's done, over, whatever you want to call it, it was a mistake, alright? So please, know your place, you are my friend, only a friend nothing more, it hasn't been a month already since we're friends again, I still don't trust you, so please just stop" She says as she leaves the movie room.

Wow. Is this how you feel when you get rejected by the girl you have loved since you're a little kid?
I don't even know what to think, did I make her that uncomfortable? At least now I know how she truly feels about me, if that's what she wants, then okay, I'll take a step back, I'll give her more space and be more distant, she is clearly pushing me away, why tho? I have never did anything wrong to her in the past? Or maybe I did? And she's simply not telling me, whatever happened, JACE YOU'RE A MAFIA LEADER! STOP IT! YOU'RE LETTING HER IN TOO MUCH! YOU CAN'T FALL IN LOVE, IT'LL ONLY MAKE YOU WEAK!

Adriana's pov

I have just arrived home, the whole time my phone has been ringing, buzzing, vibrating and blowing up because of much messages and missed calls I have, I jump on my bed and take my phone out of my pocket.

Today: 7h45 PM: Adri I saw you walking out of the movie room, are you okay?

Today: 7h55 PM: Adriana Valentina Jones, you're gone for more than 10 minutes, and yes I timed it, where are you? Did jerk face do anything to you?

Today: 8h10 PM: Adriana, I told Ashton and Sophia that you were missing, I probably should've walked Ashton out of the movie room before telling him, because you see the horror movie? Well it's nothing compared to how Ashton reacted, he literally made everyone leave the movie room.

Today: 8h25 PM: Adriana, we're going back to your house, please be safe, and tell me that you'll be there.

Today: 8h35 PM: We had to stop at the gas station but we're back on the road now.

"Ugh, I'm too tired to read the other messages" I say to myself.

I turn my phone off, and put it away on my nightstand, I turn the lights off and drift off to sleep.
