Monday afternoon(After lunch),

Adriana's pov

"Adriana wait!" I hear Maddie yelling behind me.

I don't turn around and just continue leaving, what just happened in the hallway with jerk face was embarrassing, really embarrassing, and Maddie being Maddie, is gonna ask for every single detail.

"Can you hold on for a second, you are a fast-walker" She sighs her hands on her knees.

"Maddie, I don't wanna talk about what happened okay? So please just drop it" I tell before turning around and leaving.

I arrive in front of Maddie's house take the keys and unlock the door, Maddie lives with her parents, but she told me that they are always on business trips that's why they are never here, thinking about it, I haven't seen them since I came to live here, for almost a month if not less.

I throw myself on my bed and sigh, I just ruined my friendship with Kayla for good, not to forget the punch I gave her, and when Ashton and I got in a little 'disagreement' I still can't believe that he defended her, and then the moment with jerk face, I hate the way he made me feel today, and how I made him feel, what would've happened is Maddie didn't interrupt us? WE WOULD'VE KISSED.

NO, NO, NO, I will never let him kiss me.

Jerk face, what are you trying to do? I've already moved on from my feelings, there's NO WAY I'm letting them return.

OH NO! I forgot my car in the school's parking lot, I didn't take it, I walked, I jump out of bed and call Maddie.

"Hey Madds" I say in a nervous tone.

"Hey, are you okay?" She asks worriedly.

"I walked home, so I kinda forgot about my car-" She cuts me off "Don't worry, I'm on my way home, I'm currently driving" She reassures me and I sigh in relieve.

"Thanks Madds" I say.

"You're welcome Anna" She replies.

"I'll see you when you get back" I say before hanging up.

I just want to sleep right now.

Ashton's pov

I can't believe it, Adriana punched me, she really did, I can't even recognize her anymore, she would never punch Kayla like this, or me, her brother.

I get that she's mad, but now she crossed the line, what did Kayla do anyway? We all know how Adriana reacts when she's mad, or when she wants to be left alone, so Kayla probably provoked her, but why would she?

I went to the infirmary to check on Kayla.

"Hey" I say calmly.

"Hi" She replies avoiding eye contact.

I sit on her bed and say "Can you explain what happened today?"

"I don't want to" She replies tears forming in her eyes.

"Look, I know that you miss Adriana, your best friend, and I miss her too, you know how she reacts when she's upset, mad or when she wants to be left alone, don't take it personally" I try comforting her.

"That's the problem Ashton" She lifts her head her eyes meeting mine "I am the one who provoked her today, when I saw her with Maddie, I thought she replaced Sophia and I, so I went to talk to her, and then we started yelling at each other, and-, and she said something really mean." She stops debating on whether she should or not continue.

"She said that Maddie was there for her more than I was her whole life, and she said that I should be jealous of her because she is a better friend" She finishes, my heart broke at those words.

"I can't believe she said that" I say in disbelief.

"She did, and then she went inside but I was so angry and upset by her words that I called her friend a whore, that's when she punched me." She adds.

"Kayla, I- I don't know what to say, both of you are wrong, she is guilty for saying those mean and hurtful things, but you're guilty too, for calling her friend a whore, I mean Maddie is her friend, it's normal that she defended her, but since she was already mad at you, she threw a punch on your nose." I say trying to clear up the situation.

"Yeah, you're probably right, what should I do now?" She asks in a hopeful tone.

"Leave that to me and Jace" I say before sprinting out of the infirmary.

Jace's pov

I was sitting outside by the bleachers, replaying what happened today with Adriana, we were about to kiss, I was going to feel her lips on mine for the first time, but her friend had to interrupt us.

Cut off from my thoughts I see Ashton calling my name from afar, I stand up and walk towards him, he looks out of breath like he just ran a marathon.

"Are you okay Ash?" I ask him raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I just ran from the infirmary to here" He says and I nod.

The infirmary is basically on the other side of the school it would take 10 minutes from there to here.

"So what did you want to tell me that got you sprinting over here" I ask, suppressing the laughter that is so close to appearing.

"As you know Kayla and Adriana aren't on good terms, and neither are we, so you and I are going to invite everyone to meet up at my house or yours, and we'll just fix all of this mess" Ashton suggests.

"That's not a bad idea, but just one question, how are we going to convince Adriana to come, you know how stubborn she can be, she'll never accept" I ask him.

"This is where Maddie makes her entrance, we'll tell her to bring Adriana to my house tomorrow, without Maddie telling her where they're heading, and boom problem solved." He says confidently.

"You know that Maddie won't accept, right?" I ask raising an eyebrow.

"She will, if we tell her that it's to fix the huge mess." He adds and I nod.

"Okay, I'm in" I agree and he nods excitedly.

Maddie's pov

I was working in the flying biscuit cafe, when I saw two familiar persons entering the shop, Jace and Ashton.

"Hi, welcome to the flying biscuit cafe, what can I get you today" I ask trying to sound as friendly as I can, they are the ones making Adriana sad, why should I be really nice.

"Can you sit down Maddie, please?" Ashton asks.

"Sorry but I'm busy" I trying to leave but Ashton grabs my arm and sits me down next to him.

"Didn't you hear me the first time? I said that I'm busy" I try leaving but his grip on my arm tightens.

"Too bad, I don't care" He answer coldly.

"What do you want?" I huff rolling my eyes.

Jace explains everything and my answer was "No"

"What do you mean by no?" Jace asks in disbelief.

"I meant no, like no I won't take Adriana to your house" I say annoyed.

"Maddie, Adriana is my sister, we want to fix everything, we all know that Adriana is way too stubborn to come to us, so please can you help us?" Ashton asks once again.

I sigh "Fine, but don't you dare hurt her, she is already broken"

"Thank you" They both say before leaving.

Adriana's pov

The next morning,

"Adriana, wake up" I hear Maddie's voice calling me.

"No, leave me alone" I groan.

"Anna, we are going to be late, get up" She says again.

"FINE" I groan again before going up.

I don't have time to shower so I quickly dress up, put my hair up in a messy bun, a little bit of mascara, et voila.

We hop into Maddie's car and drive to school.

Today was like any other school day, boring.

I still had two classes before finally being free, I want to watch Netflix and sleep.

2 hours later, Maddie and I were in the car going back home, confusion takes over me when I see that we're not going back home.

"Hum, Maddie, where are we going?" I ask raising an eyebrow.

"Don't be mad at me Adriana, please" She asks before parking her car, I turn around and see my house, old house.

"Maddie, what are we doing here?" I ask raising my tone.

"Come with me, please" She pleads.

"Not before you tell me what's going on" I say crossing my arms on my chest.

"Adriana, please trust me, you know that I would never drive you here unless there's a good reason, right?" Maddie questions me.

"Maddie" I sigh "You know that I trust you, but I don't want to go" I finish.

"Adriana, please don't be stubborn for once and come with me" Okay, ouch?

"What do you mean stubborn, I am not stubborn" I frown.

"Oh really, then what are you still doing in the car?" She asks playfully.

"Fine, I'm coming" I say before jumping out of the car and closing the door.

We walk to the front door and knock twice, Ashton opens the door letting us in, I turn around and see Maddie standing outside.

"Why aren't you coming in?" I ask confused.

"This is none of my business, so I'll be back later." She says before heading back to her car.

Ashton closes the door and turns his attention to me "Come with me please" He says softly.

We walk to the living room and I see Kayla, Sophia and jerk face there.

"Okay what's going on here?" I ask very confused.

"We just want to fix everything, please?" Ashton asks his eyes full of sadness, hope, guilt and love.

"Okay" Maybe today we'll be able to fix everything for good, as much as I'm still mad, I can't deny that I miss my family, friends and home.

"I'm sorry Adriana" Kayla starts "The day where you found out that your dad was cheating on your mom, Sophia and I decided to back away, and give you some space, we knew that you weren't going to open up anytime soon, so we just started hanging out with each other more, while waiting for you to fix your family issues, but then the day I saw you living with Maddie, talking, laughing, and enjoying your life without us, it just hurt me really bad, I know that I provoked you today and I'm sorry, and I'm also sorry for calling Maddie a whore, I was just jealous, I have to admit it, because I miss our friendship" She finishes and I see tears forming in her eyes.

"Look Kayla, you shouldn't be sorry, I should be the one apologizing, I'm sorry, I have been distant too, I stopped talking to you and Sophia, after what happened I just closed off from the world, I started getting angry for everything and nothing, you didn't do anything wrong you were just trying to be there for me, but I did not let you in, I thought that if I put up my walls, no one would be able to hurt me anymore, but I just got hurted even more, I lost Ashton you Sophia my parents and jerk face. I didn't mean anything I said yesterday, you and I know each other since kindergarten, you were there my whole life, more than Maddie, because we met like 2 years ago, and you shouldn't be jealous of her because you and Sophia are amazing, I'm sorry girls, could you forgive me?" I ask, and notice the tears going down on my cheeks.

"Of course we do, and could you forgive us?" Sophia asks.

"Of course I do, and sorry Kayla for punching you" I say pointing at her nose.

"It's okay, I kinda of deserved it" She says smiling and I run to hug them both.

"I love you guys" I whisper to them.

"We love you too" They answer at the same time.

We pull away from each other and I turn my attention to jerk face.

"I'm sorry jerk face, the day you offered me to stay at your house I was really mad, and I think that everyone knows how I react when I'm mad, I didn't mean to say those mean stuff, you offered me your help, and as I said, I didn't let you in, and I decided to put up my walls, I know that you did not offer your help out of pity or just because you wanted to brag about it, I'm sorry." I say sincerely looking at him.

"I'm sorry too Adriana, I didn't treat you very nicely since we were kids, I didn't mean to yell at you like a parent the other day, you just got me really worried about you, because I knew that you were mad, and when you are, you make stupid decisions and act out of anger and stubbornness, so I'm sorry for pushing it too far" He apologizes.

"Okay, ouch for the last part but I forgive you" I chuckles and he says "I forgive you too"

I run to hug him and he hugs me back, I missed his good smell, I'm happy that we re on good terms.

When we pull back from the hug I turn my attention to Ashton.

"Ashton, I am very sorry, I know that how I reacted was exaggerated but I felt like I was betrayed by my own brother, usually we tell each other everything, so when I found out that you knew it just broke me, I'm sorry for everything, you didn't tell me not because you didn't want to, it's because mom asked you not to, I know that you did this to protect me, because you were scared of how I would react, so I am really sorry could you forgive me" I ask tears running down my face.

"Of course I forgive you Adriana, I'm really sorry because I didn't tell you, I shouldn't have listened to mom, I should've told you, I'm very sorry, I was scared of how you would react because my reaction wasn't the best, you know two or three month ago when I started to skip school and Jace told you that I was seeing someone, well he was just covering for me, don't worry he didn't know that our parents were breaking up, if I couldn't tell you there is no way that I would tell Jace, I created an excuse and he just believed it, so this is how bad my reaction was, I would drink a lot, come back home late, skip school, I just didn't want you to go through this, so I listened to mom and didn't tell you, could you forgive me?" He asks guilt taking over his voice.

"Of course I forgive you, sorry for punching you today" I smile at him.

"It's okay, I didn't know that you were this strong" He replies.

"Did you forget that I used to box?" I ask raising an eyebrow.

"Oh yeah, now I remember" He says chuckling.

I run to hug him and he hugs me back.

"I missed you Ashton" I smile on his shoulder.

"I missed you too" He answers.

When we pull away from the hug I turn around and look at jerk face "By the way, sorry jerk face for trying to punch you today, could you forgive me?" I ask.

"Definitely, sorry for provoking you even more" He replies laughing.

"It's okay, anyways Ashton I'm going to mom and dad's bedroom, I want to apologize, and do you think that I could move back in?" I ask smiling.

"Of course you can move back in, this is your house too after all" He says, his smile reaching his ears.

I run up the stairs and knock on my parents room "Come in" I hear my mom's voice say.

"Hey mom" I say as I close the door behind me.

"Adriana? What are you doing here?" She asks in disbelief.

I explain everything and she smiles "You're moving back in?"

"Yea, but I just wanted to apologize for how I reacted you were going through a rough time, and I didn't help by reacting like that, could you forgive me?" I ask her.

"Adriana, of course I forgive you, I'm sorry for hiding it from you, I should've told you as soon as I found out, it was selfish from me telling Ashton to stay quiet, could you forgive me?" She asks with a smile on her face.

"Of course I forgive you, where is dad?" I ask raising an eyebrow.

"He moved out, Ashton and I didn't want him in the house anymore, I was actually about to call you and tell you, but you're already here." She says sadness showing up.

"It's okay mom, we all know that I wouldn't have answered your call, I'm sure that you will find someone better than dad, you didn't do anything wrong, I love you mom" I say hugging her tightly.

"I missed hearing you say mom, I love you too Adriana" She says as she hugs me back tightly.

After a while, Ashton offered me a ride that I gladly accepted.

I got out of the car and opened the door.

"Hey Madds, I'm back" I say happily.

"Hey, so how did it go?" She asks standing up from her bed.

I tell her everything and I see sadness showing up on her face when I said that I was moving out.

"I missed my family Maddie, please don't be sad, you have to understand me, don't worry we'll see each other at school and at the flying biscuit cafe." I reassure her.

"I wanted to talk about that I'm leaving the country." She says looking down at the floor.

"W-what?" I stutter.

"My parents decided that we will be living in Georgia from now on, it's closer to his new job, so I just wanted to say goodbye." She says tears streaming down her face and on mine too.

I hug her tightly "I will miss you Madds, will I ever be able to see you again?" I ask hopeful.

"Yeah, I'm sure that we'll see each other soon" She reassures me.

I stayed at Maddie's house for the night, the next day I gathered all of my stuff and left with my car, I will miss Madds so much, but sadly there is nothing I could do about it, I hope that we'll see each other soon.
