Chapter 8-Run
HAYLEY P.O.V:
Eric and Alec never looked at me the same same way again. They looked at me like everyone else did. Like I was different. And that I wasn't good enough. I knew that they might have something going on in there lives, but so did I. The only person that made me feel equal was Alyssa. She never looked at me as if I had 3 ears, 2 noses and 1 eye. She kept talking to me just like normal. I never took that top off, from when I was first put it on. There was something about it that made me feel more confident and it gave me courage. I never felt like I belonged with Alec. It felt like they were all keeping secrets from me, and I wasn't going to wait anymore for them to tell me. I was going to leave. All I wanted was to go home, and leave this place. It wasn't a bad place, but it was almost as if I was dreaming, and when I wake up I'll be on the streets. So I might as well save the shock I was probably going to get if I stayed here any longer then I have.
It was weird, because Alec and Eric would leave at the weirdest times, making Alyssa basically look after me. It was as if I was the baby, and they were all the parents. I hated being babied, because I wasn't used to it, maybe? But it was one of those things I would get angry about, because it just annoyed me.
Alec was surprised when I asked if I could go for a walk. I think he had so much on his mind, that he never thought to look deeply into my eyes, and see that I was planning something that might mal him upset. I asked if I could go by myself, because I wanted to think about things, and have some alone time. He said yes, but he also said I had half an hour before he would start to look for me. That would give me just enough time to get far away.
I would have to run, if I wanted to get far away. So I did. I wasn't that fit, so I had to take plenty breaks along the way.
One timw when I was taking a breath, I could hear footsteps behind me. I looked and there was absolutely nothing there. So what was it?
"Hello?" I ask in mid air. A growl escapes from the bushes, making me jump back. The growl gets louder and louder, until I have to block my ears from it. I break off into a run, but the growls followed me. I ran into a path from the forest, and followed it. But so did the noise. I kept gaining my speed, because the adrenaline pumping through my veins like blood spurred me on. Until I trip over a tree log. It had obviously been cut down, probably for produce.
"Who's this?" Hisses a teenage girl coming closer to me. I get up, and see she had yellow eyes. That wasn't possible. No one has eyes that vibrant, and no one has yellow eyes. I must be dreaming.
More people with vibrant yellow eyes like hers, appear. Some of them were males, and some of them were females.
"Please I don't mean-" a male with black hair cuts me off. He had just come out of the shadows, from behind me and he was the only one without yellow eyes. They were electric blue. His hair looked like it had only just been cut, and his body was lean, muscular, but at the same time he wasn't skinny like the others.
"Shsh. Who are you?" He asks. I shrug my shoulders, and seek my lips.
"You don't know who you are?" He asks, laughing.
"I do." I say, nodding, "But I don't see the point in telling people I don't know."
He rolls his eyes, and walks around me.
"Well, Hayley Fields. We meet again. What a surprise." He says. I take a deep breathe, and see he has a smirk on his face.
"W-who are you?"
"You don't know? I would of thought you would recognise me, but obviously not. I'm Noah Fields? Your brother." He says simply. I blink, hoping I might find out that I was dreaming, but he was still there.
"I don't have a brother. And you don't have a sister. Go away!" I yell, running back towards the path.
It was like my body did a rewind. How could I have a brother? I had never lived with a brother, and I had never been told I had one. Wouldn't my uncle tell me?
When the road comes clear, I run further away from Alec's house and from Noah.
This can't be happening. Not to me. I don't have a brother. My legs were about to give up on me, so I needed to stop. But I was stupid stopping. Because someone grabs my hand, and cuts off the Blood flow.
"You should know, I don't take no for an answer." Mutters Noah. I fight against his grasp, but I wasn't good enough.
"And, that you could never win."
