Chapter 17-School Dance PART 2
People stopped staring at us, when they would see Alec's reaction. He would growl, if someone stared at me. He would growl louder if someone steeped on my foot, or bumped into me. There was this one boy who kept staring at Alec, like he was some monster or something. I had no idea what was going on between them, but it looked like they could have some sort of history between each other. And it didn't look like good history.
"Can I ask you something?" Asks Alec, hiding his face. His face was blushing, and I could tell what he was going to ask.
"Yeah, of course." I say, making his head look back up at me.
"Well... I think I like you. I was wondering if you felt the same way?" He asks. I smile, and nod. There was no where to run this time, so I would have to confront him.
"Yes. I do." I say, looking down at the floor. Alec looks down at the floor as well, but then he puts his hands around my waist, and we start to dance. Now people stared, because we were slow dancing, when a rock song came on. So we basically looked stupid. But I didn't care. At all. Alec had finally told me how he felt, and that felt great.
We just kept looking at each other, in the eyes, and we just had smiles on our faces.
"I know why you were nervous when you came here." He says. I shake my head, and frown.
"You don't." I say. Alec rolls his eyes, and smiles.
"Whoever looked after you, scares you. I could tell-" he says, looking at me with a sympathetic smile.
"How?" I ask, looking at him with a confused face. The way people were circling around us, made me start to panic. It probably wasn't on purpose, the way they all just danced around us.
"Because- Because of this-" he says, leaning his face towards me, and putting his lips on mine. An aching line, spirals up my back, but I ignore it. Alec had kissed me. No way! This must be a dream.
The ache gets stronger and stronger, but ignoring it was getting hard. So I pushed Alec away, and put a hand on my back. Everything was getting so much. The music. Everyone dancing around us.
"Hayley?" He asks. I nod, and look at him.
"Are you okay?" He asks. I nod, and look around the room. There was that guy that had been staring all that time, and he was heading towards us. I grab Alec's hand, and drag him outside with me.
Alec stops me outside, and grabs my shoulder.
"What's wrong? Hayley?" He asks. I take a deep breathe and prepare myself.
"Who's that guy that was in there? Why were you looking at him like he was a vampire?" I ask. He shakes his head, and smiles.
"He's Ash. We were best friends, and now we're not. Why?" He asks.
"Because I think I've seen him before."
