Chapter 13-DNA
Alec P.O.V:
I made a mistake. I should of never done that to Hayley. She deserves better. But I was doing it to protect her, and that's got to count as something, doesn't it? Eric and I went out to find her, but I had no luck. Eric did, and when he brought her home I was relieved. It felt like I was that little kid who gets lost in the store, and starts to cry. Hayley looked rough, and I could see a slight hint of angryness on her face. Maybe Eric said something? Hayley looking tired. And I mean tired.
If I could ever go back in time, and tell her she could go, I still wouldn't let her come. The party was wild, and the Alpha of the other pack fought with me. I couldn't't control myself, because apparently he's Hayley's brother.
"Can I talk to you?" Asks Hayley, walking towards me. I nod, and Eric heads outside, probably going back to his apartment.
"I'm sorry. I overreacted... And you didn't need to go for a search. But thank you." She says, looking at the ground. I get my forefinger and move her chin so he has to make eye contact with me.
"I think you'll find I did." I say. "Because I hate knowing that you could be hurt." She smiles, blushing. But then she blanks out, and blinks. The smile rubs off her face, and she steps back.
"I'm sorry. I can't do this right now." She says, heading off to her room.
I didn't even feel embarrassed, because now she knew about it, and she couldn't ignore it. Could she?
Hayley P.O.V:
I cried in bed that night. All I could think about was my uncle. I always looked after him, and what happens if he just couldn't look after himself? I thought about what Alec said. Did he care if I got hurt? Did he? If I could do anything to take back me leaving I would. He was finally helping me actually let someone into my life, but then I blew it.
When I woke up, I could hear people talking outside my door. When I say people I mean Eric, and Alec.
"Tell her!" Pesters Eric. I could hear Alec disagreeing, but minutes later he came into my room. He had a bowl of muesli, and he hands it to me.
"I need to tell you something." He says. I nod, and take a bite of my muesli.
"You see... I... have a school... dance... and, I was wondering... if you could maybe... go with me?" He asks. I look down at my bowl, and try and hide the smile that was forming on my face.
"Um..."
"Of course I understand that you might not want to come.... but I was just asking." He adds. I let the smile break on my face, and I laugh.
"I would love to go." I say. Alec smiles, and gets up off of the bed.
"Thanks, Hayley. For everything." He says, before leaving my room. I probably take out my biggest smile, that had ever even passed my face. Someone actually wants me to stay in there life. Not as something they can throw away. I was actually liked for once in my life. I wasn't being used, so I could bring meals onto the table. I was going to a school dance! But wait... I don't know how to dance! I have nothing to wear!
Suddenly I could hear a ringing in my ears, and as I cover them, it stops.
Hayley Fields. You left. I'm coming to get you. And that's a promise.
Voices kept ringing in my ears, and that sentence was one of them. And I knew straight away who it was. My uncle. How could he do that?
"Hayley honey? Can you hear me?" Asks Alyssa, waving her hand in my face. I blink and realise that Alyssa had dresses in her hand, and a cup of tea in the other.
"Let's go." She says, grabbing my hand. I get up off of the bed, and she takes me to the changing room. This is going to take forever. Ugh...
