Chapter 10-The Last Time
Alec P.O.V:
Yes, Hayley and I are mates. That's what voice she heard. Me. When you are mates you can send each other messages through the mind, and when my Luna was in trouble I could sense it. But I could never tell her. Ever. She was to weak, and she wouldn't want me.
I was watching that whole time, with Noah, but I couldn't step out. Or the first mate bond would form. It wouldn't matter when we were both human, but if I was a werewolf, like I was yesterday the mate bond would form. And I would have to tell her. The only other person who knows is Eric, because he saw that note.
I couldn't tell Stan. No way. Stan didn't like Hayley but he would never tell me why. Stan was the man that would look after us, if we got hurt or if we needed someone to talk too.
But the weird thing is, is that Hayley came home with him, after she had been with Noah. When I saw Hayley walking home with Stan, I had to run home probably the quickest I ever had before. I couldn't risk Stan seeing me.
"Alec? Earth to Alec?" Asks Eric, clicking his fingers near my face. He was getting frustrated when I would zone out, and think about Hayley. Yes, I thought about her more then I did with anyone else. I tried to tell myself it was only because I knew she was my mate, and if I never found out I would never of had thoughts about her.
"Right. What were you saying?" I ask, blinking like they do in the movies after they've zoned out.
"Alyssa needs to get a werewolf check up. You need to sign this," he says handing me the piece of paper with all the information. "And give it to Alyssa so she can give it to Stan." I grab a pen from the desk, and sign the piece of paper.
Every 2 months people in this pack would need to get a check up. Stan, would check how our bones and our reflexes as werewolves were going, and he would make us do this speed test. It was to make sure we weren't going to get hurt if someone decided to ambush us. People like Eric, Alyssa, And me would get checked up on more, because we were basically the leaders of the pack. If one of us falls, so do the others.
"Can I ask you a question?" Eric asks, grabbing the piece of paper, and checking if I had done it right. Seriously, he has trust issues.
"Yeah?" I ask, hesitating a bit.
"Do you like Hayley?" He leans on the his desk, and stares at me like I was some love magnet or something.
"Yeah." I say. "She's a great friend." I add. I wasn't going to say anything I might regret later on in life.
"I mean as more then a friend?" He hints. I shake my head and chuckle.
"Nope. We're just friends." I say, grabbing paper out of my desk.
"Why do you lie to yourself?" He asks. I know it wasn't directed in a mean way, but I took it that way.
"I don't lie to or for anyone."
"Except yourself, of course." He says. I roll my eyes, and draw a smiley face on the piece of paper.
"I don't like her." I say, crunching up the piece of paper.
"Fine then. I'm going to ask her out." Says Eric. I stand up from my chair, and hammer my fist down on the table.
"No." I say through gritted teeth. Eric smirks a cunning smile. He was testing me.
"What was I saying before?" He asks. I sit back down, and paint an annoyed face on another piece of paper. How could he do this to me?
"Stop running from the truth. It's fine to like someone like her." I roll my eyes and look up at him.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask, already getting ready to defend Hayley on my behalf.
"It means, that you two are meant to be together." He says, stacking a pile of paper next to the printer.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I say.
"Oh, yes you do." He says, leaving the room.
Give me strength.
