Heroes and villains
"It's a paradox, you see? Everyone wants to be a hero, but yet we live in a world full of villains"
One day, a reporter decided find out if there were still 'true heroes' and 'true villians" on this world. Planning to interview everyone he would meet after how they would rate their own and other people's intentions, he started right at his towns shopping mall. And as soon as he arrived, costumers were happy to answer his question. "We are here to buy presents for our children" a middle aged couple told him. Also he found a mother buying food for dinner, an old woman getting vitamins for her husband, and a young voluntary worker who handed out leaflets "So rather good intentions", he concluded. Asked after other people's intentions, there was just one group who all his interview partners complaint about: The shop owners at the mall. You know, they make everything so expensive! I mean, of course we need there shops, but they just do it all for profit! Hardly can I afford what I have to buy! was even one of the nicest responses he got. Thinking about this, the journalists wondered if he might was already close to the answer of his question. Could these people be the heroes, and the shop owners the villains? But of course, the other side had to get a say as well. Therefore, he walked straight into the next stores and confronted their manager, who collectively replied "Oh costumers! You can't believe everything they say! Would love to get everything for free ... force us to reduce the prices and lower the income of everyone in the company! While we are working hard to supply all they need in flawless quality. And what can we do since the government has raised the taxes again this year?"
So the journalists concluded "they can't be the villains, but also not heroes, and neither do the costumers". A bit disappointed that his question appeared to be more difficult to solve, he decided to check out the taxes raising government. Luckily, he was a reporter of a very famous newspaper- so it was no problem to arrange an interview with an important minister in a fancy looking room.
Asked about his intentions behind the taxes and his opinion about the companies complaining, the minster smiled before he responded "Oh the taxes...yeah, that was hate but necessary to restore some of the economy our old government has ruined....also the companies are complaining a bit to much- they still earn the highest sums since a decade". The reporter kindly thanked for the reply, but wasn't to satisfied. "Why did all this persons just fit for the role of the hero just as well the for the role of the villain? ". Still not giving up, he now decided to talk to the old president, now a member of the opposition, but the result was rather upsetting "oh yeah the economy....but that only happened because of the war...and the war wouldn't have happened if journalists like you wouldn't have written about the whole crises so aggressively and all the people were scared so that I had to act like I did". Quite puzzeld, the journalist left the building in which the interview had taken place to sit down on a small bench. And old man came to sit next to him and asked"Why so grumpy, sir?" With a sigh, the journalists briefly explained his situation and ended with "if I only knew who of them was the hero, and who was the villain now !" "Oh dear! " The man replied with a smile, "you looked for heroes an villains- but all you found were humans!"
