Chapter Four:
"Do you like Ducks?"
Devon blinked at the question and looked behind him. Aryc was leaning against the brick wall with a smile on his face.
"Ducks? Yeah, I guess they're cute." Devon replied, "You kind of remind me of a duck."
Aryc smiled brighter and walked next to Devon, "Were you calling me cute again?" He asked with a short laugh.
Devon flushed before grinning, "Maybe."
A week had passed since Aryc and Devon became friends. Aryc had become a lot less closed off, now, he was still shy and scared of the littlest things. But he believed in Devon always being next to his side, so he tried not to let his insecurities show.
Devon became kinder. Knowing about all of Aryc's weird but not problems, made him show compassion and care for the other boy. He learned how to treat his freak outs and anxiety attacks.
Everyone noticed the change between them both. They got closer, which meant, people got jealous. Jealousy cannot be a good thing.
Aryc bit his lip and shivered gently. There was a chilly breeze that passed them by. "Hm... I'm cold..." He murmured mostly to himself.
Devon blinked before slowly wrapping his arms around Aryc's small body. "Better?"
The smaller boy blushed a crimson shade of red before shyly nodding. "Y...Yes..." He answered. He softly leaned his head into Devon's shoulder as Devon gently rocked Aryc's body in a lulling rhythm.
He didn't know why he was doing that. He was never that kind, but he found that he didn't even mind it. He enjoyed the presence of Aryc.
With that in mind, Devon pressed his thumb and index finger under Aryc's gin, forcing his head up to face him. Aryc stared at him with his shimmering cinnamon eyes.
"What is it?"
Devon sucked in a breath before slowly exhaling. Aryc shivered at the hot breath on his face. He noticed Devon was getting closer to him. He swallowed the lump in his throat and closed his eyes, just as their lips met.
Their kiss was long, slow, and sweet. There was no fire and need. There was lovely and peace. Simplicity. Devon never kissed like that before, and Aryc never been kissed. It was perfect,
If only Angela wasn't there, watching them with fury from behind the trees.
The next day Aryc and Devon had become even closer and even dopier if that was even possible.
"Devon? What the hell is up with you?" Pierce asked curiously. He found it amusing but was kinda irked his best friend didn't like to party anymore.
Devon shrugged and looked around to see if anyone was listening. He made sure it was clear before leaning in to whisper: "I kissed Aryc. I liked it. A lot."
Pierce's eyes widened before he grinned like an idiot, "Welcome to the bisexuals club. We have both men and women for you to enjoy." He teased.
Devon groaned and punched Pierce's arm. "I'm not bi. I'm just, I don't like other guys. I'm not into them." He sighed, "But Aryc... Aryc is something else..."
Pierce hummed, "Maybe you're demiromantic?" He suggested.
"Were you on tumblr or something? I don't know half of these terms." Devon deadpanned.
Pierce scoffed, "No. I'm not my sister." He shook his head, "besides, I know them because of my sister and the fact that my mother is a therapist/psychologist."
"Well, you got me there."
