42: The End
Ah! the final chapter...
I love even numbers that's why I'm ending my book with Chapter 42. I'm such a nerd, I know.
Anyways, feed your eyes

"Thanks for today Philip, I really had an amazing time today" I uttered, looking up into his face which was punctuated with a smile.
We were standing close to his car outside the park. The sky had considerably darkened due to the time we spent seated on the grass, talking.
"It's okay, I enjoyed myself too... I just wish we could do this some other time."
My ears perked up at his words. He wanted us to hang out some other time? Nothing would have made me believe that the man standing before me was the same person that had tortured me a few months ago. This was a different side to him.
"Some other time?" I repeated and he nodded slowly before dragging his tantalizing eyes away from me, liberating me from the spell he managed to keep me under.
His eyes moved over to the cars parked around us. When they rested on a particular car, something flashed in his eyes and disappeared again before I could recognize what it was.
"You seem to be tired, let's go home."
He attempted to open the door for me but I grabbed the handle before he did and climbed into his car.
"I'm not who you think I am Florence, I'm a bad person..."
He blurted out after making the car drive steadily over the smooth asphalt covered road.
I watched him with an expression indicating confusion.
"Why do you say that?"
"I really am." He insisted, eyes fixed on the road which his car glided gracefully upon.
"Stop it, you shouldn't say such a thing. There is good in everyone, including you." I spoke in a persuasive tone, but he seemed not to believe me as his head shakes in disagreement.
"You still believe in that after all I've done to you? How badly I've treated you in the past."
"You said it's in the past, the past's dead and gone, stop trying to resurrect it." I chided and he tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. He swerved to avoid a head-on collision with a car whose driver wasn't paying attention to the road in front, he had his attention on some girl seated next to him, probably his girlfriend. He muttered some words under his breath which definitely were not polite words.
"Florence, I'm sorry." He apologized and observed me briefly. When his eyes returned to the road, my eyes widened and my mouth hung low. It was either he was joking or I was dreaming. When he didn't burst out laughing and I didn't wake up, I knew his apology was real.
When I didn't utter a word, Phillip stopped the car abruptly at the edge of the road and unbuckled his seatbelt. He brushed his hair with fingers and took a deep breath before parting his lips to speak.
"I'm sorry for everything I've done to you, acting like a jerk to you, making you feel miserable, I'm so sorry."
Still stunned by his unexpected apology, I shifted my gaze from him to the pedestrians walking past the car, wishing someone would stop by and give me a rational explanation on why my ex-boss was seeking for my forgiveness.
When my gaze left the pedestrians, I noticed Philip's sharp eyes watching me closely. His gaze was magnetic, I couldn't look away from him. It was as if I was lost in another world, I didn't want to return from it.
In the middle of our staring competition, he slowly tilted his head towards me and I instinctively imitated his action by moving mine towards his, our eyes never falling away as our faces proceeded to close the distance between us. Surges of electric current was shot from his eyes to my spine, and they rapidly approached my brain just like the way a train approaches a train station, confidently.
A honk from a car behind us interrupted our lips eminent collision and inwardly, all traces of excitement vanished. My heart beat rate returned to normalcy and I internally destroyed the car that interrupted our 'moment'.
Philip sank back into the car seat and ruffled his hair, slightly annoyed, he looked out through the window at everything in close proximity.
I bit my lip and stared at my fingers, feeling a little lightheaded, i closed my eyes and reclined in the seat which did nothing to relieve my discomfort.
"I... Uh, come on, let's get you home." His eyes travelled back to mine for a couple of seconds and went off again to the ignition where his car keys were dangling from.
He started the engine and drove off in the direction of my house.
An awful blanket of silence hung over us during the drive till he stopped in front of my house where many police vehicles were parked with sirens blaring and blue and red lights flashing overhead. A few police officers were moving briskly in and out the house.
I summoned courage and swung the car's door open. I rushed towards the house where Michael was standing next to mom who was weeping violently, his hand was draped over her shoulder while his face remained expressionless.
Where's Tam?
Bewildered, I turned to a dark-skinned police officer and tugged her arm, she was scribbling furiously on a notepad, but immediately she felt my hand on her arm, she transferred her attention to me.
"Where's my sister? what happened?" I demanded like a mad lady. A little smile appeared on her lips and vanished before I could blink my eyes.
"There had been a kidnap, unfortunately Miss, your sister was the victim."
My mouth fell open on its own and right away my phone beeped. The police lady lost her interest in me and started conversing with another police officer.
I mustered the little strength i had and turned on my phone's display. I clicked on the Message App and this was the message I received:
'THIS ONLY THE BEGINNING HONEY PIE💀💀'
The blood supply to my brain was temporary cut off and I slumped into a pair of hands which received my body.
