20: You're Such a Cow
Before you read:
Some of you might be angry at how Florence is such a 'b*tch', (as someone said). Need I remind you, this is just a book and the characters are a product of my imagination which runs wild. I base my stories on reality, I didn't want it to be all glitter and sh*t like that. If you don't like anyone in this book, here's water 💧so you can gracefully slide outta here.
I get irritated when I see posts like 'she's such an idiot', or she's so feeble. Dude, look around you...do you see perfect? Is anything perfect? I don't effing think so...

"My phone battery's almost drained." I complain to Philip who shoots me an amused look with his signature grin.
I search the dashboard of his car hoping I would find a charger that matches my phone. Fortunately I did.
Philip had offered to help me choose the designs for my new house after we left yesterday. Although we fell into a little argument which was based on him leaving his work because of me, he still managed to talk his way out of it, or rather, kiss his way out of it.
"When are they commencing with working on your house?" Philip asked, breaking the silence.
"Tomorrow or the day after, I'm not sure."
"That's fine then."
"Thank you for coming with me and showing me to the right people."
"It's nothing, you know me, I know a lot of people." He bragged, totally aware that I hated it when he sounds so proud.
Philip parked in front of mom's house."Yeah yeah yeah... whatever helps you sleep well at night." I scowled.
Well, starting last two weeks, I officially stopped calling my family house 'my house'. Technically speaking, it wasn't mine anymore, my new house is.
"What are your plans for the forthcoming celebration of Christmas?" Philip asked just as my fingers were about unfastening the seatbelt strapped across my body.
"I'm gonna spend it cuddled up on my bed reading some book..."
"How boring that must be." Philip spoke bearing a bored look.
"Yeah, it is to you, but to me, it isn't." I replied.
If he saw me as a boring person, there'd be nothing I'd say to change his mind.
I had no problem with celebrating Christmas, it's just that it was my ritual every year to spend it quietly in my room while mom and Tamara sat in some place listening to a choir singing Christmas songs.
"You're really an interesting woman." Philip smiled.
I thought he was disappointed that I didn't spend my Christmas doing some cliche activity.
"I am, I agree with you on that."
"What will you be doing later in the evening?" Philip asked. I leaned back into the car seat and tapped my finger against my forehead in thought.
"Nothing much, maybe go out with Tamara to shop for things for her upcoming wedding."
"When's the wedding?"
"25th of next month."
A frown appeared on his face. "I might be out of America by then."
I took his hand in mine."You don't need to work your self up about being in attendance."
"Thank you for being considerate, you're unlike..." He stopped his speech half-way making me wonder what else he wanted to say.
"Tell me." I pleaded. He glanced outside the car for a brief second and flickered his gaze back to me wearing an unreadable expression.
"You're unlike my former girlfriends who'll want me to abandon my plans for them."
This was the first time he was telling me about his previous relationships. There was only one of his ex-girlfriends I knew and that's Maya. Although I didn't know what their relationship was like, I had concluded it was a complete bed of roses.
"Thanks." I replied
"So..." His speech was cut off by Tamara who opened the door beside me. I nearly fell out of the car had Philip not held onto me.
"Excuse me, mind if I butt in on this conversation?" She asked, smiling widely.
"You already are." I said through gritted teeth.
"Come on dear sister, don't be so serious." She placed a hand on the roof of the car and tried to touch my face but I shied away from her fingers.
"...falling out of the car." The rest of my words were concealed in a mumble.
I turned to see Philip comfortably watching our little exchange.
Tamara cupped her ear with her free hand and leant towards me. "What did you say? I didn't hear that."
"Nothing."
She smiled. "I thought so, now get out."
"You're so controlling." I remembered my phone and yanked it away from the charger.
"I love it that way." She left the entrance of the car so I could get down. When I was away from the car, Tamara shut the car door.
I turned to Philip with a weak smile. "Goodbye Philip, I'll see you later in the eveni..."
"Oh no, you aren't, you're helping me shop, remember?"
Could my sister ever be less infuriating?
I slapped my face and slipped my palm down in frustration.
"I'll call you. Good bye ladies." Philip waved at us and drove away, probably excited at leaving our bickering session.
"You're so cruel." I muttered, walking to the porch.
"I love you too." Tamara spoke as she walked past me.
"I hate you." I viciously tugged on the handle of my bag.
"The feeling's mutual. Spare the bag the pain." She entered the house and held the door open for me. I stomped on her feet as I walked in through the open door.
"You're such a cow."
I heard mom snickering alongside some other person. I looked up to see Mom standing beside Mr. Adam who had his hand wrapped around her waist.
"So you know, a cow has a pair of horns and it has a tail, since I don't possess any of those, I can't be classified as a cow." I protested.
Tamara closed the door and walked to the kitchen.
"You have bulgy eyes like a cow, that makes you one!" She yelled.
"A cow doesn't have bulgy eyes." I plopped down on the sofa and looked in the direction of Mom and Mr. Adam. They were laughing their hearts out.
"It does!"
"Does not!"
"Does."
"Does not!"
"Girls...girls please...break it up, I'm dying of laughter here." Mom choked, bending over in laughter.
"I don't need tickets to go watch a comedy show, the both of you are sufficient." Mr. Adam referred to me and Tamara.
I rolled my eyes as he kissed mom on the side of her head.
"Still, Florence's a cow." Tamara appeared behind them with a glass of water. She made her way towards me and gave me the cup. I took a sip of the water and abandoned it on the side table.
"I'm gonna kill you Tamara." I reached for her hand and twisted before she could blink.
"Let go of me!" Tamara yelled, crouching on the floor in pain. I only released her hand when mom whacked the back of my head.
...
"I like that one."
"I don't, it makes you look fatter."
"The bigger, the better. Please, I'll take that dress." Tamara pointed at the sea blue dress she left on the cushion in Tanya's fashion shop.
"Yes ma'am." A girl who had been smiling since we got here responded and hurried to lift the dress like it was some expensive jewelry. The dress really was expensive, it would cost Tamara about two thousand dollars but she said she didn't mind because she loved the dress for enhancing her curves.
I chuckled as Tamara began dancing to a song in her head. The people around us gave her curious looks but she was oblivious to them. I wanted to shake her out of her reverie to save her further embarrassment but I didn't, knowing she would come up with a great comeback.
"What y'all looking at? Haven't you seen an excited lady before?"
Just as I expected.
I heard snickers around me and magically, everybody returned to whatever thing they were doing. Tanya appeared beside me and whispered into my ear.
"Your sister's crazy."
I laughed and she did the same.
"Where have you been?" I asked. After she had welcomed us when we arrived, she suddenly disappeared, saying she'd be back.
"A client needed attention. I'm sorry for leaving you just like that." She apologized, watching Tamara who was no longer dancing, instead she admired some of the shoes displayed before her.
"It's alright, you actually told me you'd be back."
"Did I?"
Did I forget to state that Tanya forgets things easily? Well, yes she does.
"Come over here you two and help me choose some shoes." Tamara waved us over. Tanya and I exchanged looks as we strode to meet my excited sister.
After two hours of mad shopping, we returned home exhausted. As soon as the taxi we hailed dropped us at home, Tamara fled into the house saying she had to use the toilet. Well, that was her excuse for not helping me carry in the bags which virtually contained only her stuff.
While I was busy hauling the bags to the porch, I was unaware of anything around me. It was until I turned around to pick the remaining bags from where I left them that I realized a human form before me.
Seeing it was dark, I was really scared.
"Did you miss me sweetie?"
That voice was unmistakably familiar.
Well well well *clears throat*
Who could that be? I need guesses.
How did you see this chapter?
Well, I thought I might incorporate another Tamara and Florence moment here and I don't regret doing that because it really is funny.
Almost everyone has a friend or sibling who virtually insults them all the time. My friend can be really infuriating at times that when you see us bickering you'd think we're fighting when actually we aren't.
Thank you again for reading this chapter.
Tris.
