Chapter 4

You know what's worse than watching two people getting it on, on television? Two people getting in on in real life, on an office table, blatantly in front of your face.

Valarie took a moment to catch her breath. The two mounds of flesh pressing against his chest was still completely vivid.

"Ugh" she squirmed at the thought.

She tried feverishly to wipe the image from her mind. There was no way that she could work there or even face him after this. She began walking back to Nikolai's office when the door creaked open behind her. She spun around to find the blonde model tucking her shirt back into her skirt. Her lips shifted into a sideways smile when she spotted Valarie.

"Dimitri needs you now" she said before walking off.

What? He needs me now? Well I hope he knows that I am not just one of his little play toys standing in line to be petted. He can need my ass... No pun intended.

Valarie stomped back to Nikolai's office. She walked through the doors and straight to his desk and started tidying the stack of files. His eyes followed her in confusion.

"Is everything okay Ms. Lauryn?" he asked.

"Oh, yes everything is fine" she responded.

He observed her some more.

"So why are you here? And besides, you look like you've just seen a ghost."

"Am I not still welcomed in your office?" she queried.

"Of course you are."

A smile played upon his face.

"Valarie, I know that look. What happened?"

Her eyes met his and like a puppet, her lips shifted to speak.

"He-"

"Valarie!" a stern voice called out.

She spun around to see Dimitri glaring at her. She didn't even hear when the door clicked open. She stood immovably gaping at him.

"I said I needed you. I've been waiting. Come." he spoke.

Valarie still hadn't moved. Her body slowly defrosted like ice and her lips were the first to close shut. She looked at Nikolai whose lips were now shifting up into a smile. She knew that the time to spill all had already expired and it was only best to leave. Valarie silently excused herself and left behind Dimitri.

One hand was planted deep within a pocket and the other remained in a fist at his side. His lips remained sealed on the way back. The pulsing of his temple indicated that he gritted his teeth. Valarie tried to swallow but her mouth had suddenly gone dry. She walked awkwardly through the door and cleared her throat. Dimitri found his place behind his desk.

"What the hell is your problem? You were going to tell my father about what happened?" he blurted finally.

She raised an eyebrow and folded her arms but couldn't find it in herself to reply. She couldn't even look at him for more than three seconds.

"You should learn how to knock on a door next time" he scolded.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that this was your personal bedroom" she replied.

"It is whatever I want it to be, whenever I want it to be" he said matter of fact.

"Hmm well I better leave then" Valarie suggested.

"Why?" he asked.

"Because my imagination is not as great as yours. I stand here and see nothing but an office. Maybe it might be best to leave you to hallucinate on your own."

"Just drop it and you're not going anywhere" he said.

"Why not?" Valarie eyed him.

"Because I said so" he snapped.

"Jeez, is it so hard for you to just shut up and comply sometimes?"

She searched her thoughts then replied.

"Um, yes it is actually."

Dimitri rolled his eyes in annoyance.

Three knocks were heard on the door.

"Come in" he ordered.

Kyle entered and greeted the two.

"The design is finished. We have a model if you would like to see."

"Yes bring her in" Dimitri responded.

Kyle invited the model in. The black fabric complimented her pale skin. She came to a stop in front of his desk. Dimitri rose from his seat in pursuit of her. His eyes started from the top of her dark straight hair and slowly lurked its way down her body. His hand pressed against her hips as he walked around to observe her at all angles. Valarie could already see her responding to his touch. She could barely see her breathing.

He stalked her, like a predator to its prey. His eyes glowed with desire. Valarie looked on longingly. No man had ever looked upon her in such a way. Disillusion burned a fire in her she feverishly tried to extinguish.

"It's fine. Just make the bottom piece more fitted. I want to see her hips more" Dimitri commented then allowed them to make themselves out.

"I thought you said that you couldn't draw?" he turned his attention to Valarie.

"I can't" Valarie responded.

"Clearly you lied."

A small smile played upon her face.

"So what did you think about the model?" she changed the topic.

"The model?" he questioned.

"Yes. The one that was just in here. Do you like her? Do you want to um, allow her to satisfy your needs as well?"

He furrowed his eyebrows and leaned against his desk. His arms folded and he narrowed his eyes on her.

"Well she's hot and I might."

"Are you going to go after her?" she fished for more information.

"No" he responded.

"Why not?"

"She's taken."

"How do you know she's taken" Valarie raised her eyebrow.

"Because she didn't respond to me completely. It meant that she wanted me but she couldn't because she had boundaries, in this case a boyfriend."

Valarie chuckled.

"Have it ever occurred to you that the lack of enthusiasm for a girl to just throw herself at any man, her boss of that matter was probably a shared act of feminism and self-respect?"

Dimitri snorted.

"Self-respect? That's something that doesn't exist in most girls today. If they don't have respect for themselves then I don't respect them, simple."

"Hmm. So what about the one from before? She clearly was able to satisfy your...you know. You might just have a good relationship with her."

"Haha who Goldilocks? Again, the same note on self-respect. Then again she's too skinny. She won't last a 'relationship' with me. I'll break her."

Valarie choked on the saliva she was just swallowing .

"Oh gawd!" she croaked.

Dimitri laughed.

A dose of realization consumed him and his eyes, brushed with the shade of a thunder storm zoomed in on her.

"Wait why do you care?"

"I don't" she responded.

His eyes darkened.

"You wouldn't ask me those questions without a reason so I will ask you only once again...Why?"

She searched her thoughts for a moment. There was no way that she was going to get her job done without him knowing about it. They would definitely need to work together if he was to get anywhere near settling down.

"Fine" she said finally.

"I will be completely frank here. Your father thinks that you are an irresponsible boy that needs to grow up. Your complete lack of commitment bothers him deeply and you will never be a man to him unless you prove that you can commit. The truth is, he just thinks that you don't have enough balls to get the job done and was beginning to wonder if he would have been better off with a daughter than a son."

Dimitri raised his brows. "He said all that?"

Her eyes searched mid-air for a second.

"Um, yes pretty much."

His hands balled into fists at his side and anger flickered across his features.

"Wait, so what the hell does this have to do with you?" he asked.

"Well, I sort of needed another job and well he sort of gave me one."

"What? Job? I still don't get it."

"Ugh! Okay your father hired me to find you a woman  for you to settle down with. Someone who you will commit to. That way I get a bigger pay check and get myself out of the deep shit I'm currently in, you prove to your father that you're a worthy heir and your father can finally find it in himself to trust you enough to put the whole of his business into your hands. Everybody lives happily ever after. The end."

there was no way she could do this without telling him.

Dimitri was already huffing.

"I can't believe he would actually-. Ugh! Can the man be that desperate to see a ring on my finger?"

He loosened his tie and ran his hand through his hair. Valarie forced herself to ignore how sexy he looked in the moment. The veins stood fully erected beneath his skin. He breathed out a sigh of frustration.

"Fine, if the man can't seem to understand that there is literally no woman that can put this dog on a leash then I will show him that I gave it a fair chance."

He closed in the distance between them to a point that she could feel his breath.

"Okay" he stared directly into her eyes.

"Find me an actual woman. I.Dare.You."
