Once upon a time, a plant named Succulentus lived in the desert along with his cactus friends and critters.
One day, he wanted to explore the world, "Prickly, I'm done staying here in this hot, boring mound of sand. I want to explore the world and see what's out there," he told his friend, "The only problem is... I have to break the number one plant rule.. I have to move."
Prickly was surprised, "But it's so big out there, how will you find your way home? Plus, there might be nothing else but the same boring mounds of sand, buddy."
"You're right, all we can see is sand, what if there really is nothing else out there?" Succulentus was disappointed. He thought about it for a while. He soaked up as much water as he could to store for the journey. After a few days he couldn't stand it anymore, "No."
"Huh?" Prickly asked.
"I can do it, I will find what's out there, there's a limit to everything, so there has to be an end to this barren land. I want to see what's at the end of it. I wonder it it will be nothing but the sky once we reach the end. I wonder if it will be something we can't percieve, but I hope it will be better than this. Right, Prickly?"
"I don't wanna risk it. What if there's something worse out there? I'd rather stay in this peaceful place."
"You won't come with me?!"
"I'm sorry Succulentus, I guess it'll be farewell, be safe out there buddy."
"But you're my best friend, I can't travel without you alongside me.."
"If you really wanna go, then I won't stop you."
Succulentus nodded sadly. Then, using his roots and with the help of his spikes, he dug his way forward.
