Today I am going to rant

About how people judge cartoons.

You're probably gonna think to yourself after reading this

That I am obsessed with cartoons.

I don't understand why people judge a show by the fandom, the art style and the first few episodes.

First of all, why the fandom? You should never judge something by it's fandom, mainly because the show has NOTHING to do with the fandom. You can watch things while avoiding the fandom, it's not like you have to be in it.

Now, if you were in the fandom for a while and and you watched the whole show and like it, but all of a sudden the fandom changes your view of the show, then that's different. Just don't judge a show by the fandom if you haven't watched it yet. And that doesn't mean you can call the show garbage because again, the fandom has nothing to do with the show, and you used to like the show, right?

Second of all, the FIRST FEW EPISODES. A lot of good shows start slow and have the plot develop later on. If you watch the few episodes, of course you'd hate the show. You don't even know what's going on. Basically, you have to "grow" with the characters before you can enjoy the show.

If you watch the whole first season and still don't like it and tell other people politely that it's just not for you, that's fine, everyone has an opinion. But if you start calling it "garbage bla bla bla I hate this show", then you're just gonna look like a fool.

Finally, THE ART STYLE. A show focuses on the dialogue, plot, and many other things, not just the animation. Plus, I've known lots of shows to have their animation improve around the second season. If you watch the show long enough surely you'll start to get used to the art style and focus on things other than the animation anyway.

I used to judge shows by their art style. I did it like seven times, and guess what? All the shows I thought had a lame art style were good shows. I feel lucky that I gave the shows a try, otherwise I would have been still hating on those shows. I have learned my lesson.

Honorable mention: Some people stereotype all cartoons to be childish and "just for kids" just because of one bad show they watched. NOT ALL CARTOONS ARE BAD, just watch some and surely you'll come across a good cartoon, I know many popular cartoons that are good.

So, if you are judging a show by any of these factors, you are either very young and don't understand anything or you are just dumb. Or maybe you don't have much experience with cartoons, but anyway I still respect your opinion. I hope you enjoyed reading my super long rant and if you did, thank you.
