A Wattpad Review: Review of "Bittersweet" by AustenSnowWrites.
Katy Thomas is best known for her booming bakery shop, Katy Cakes, that has desserts as sweet as her.
Her new neighbor, Gage Rivers, is best known for being bitter and closed off from others. The only thing they really have in common is their passion to escape their past. When one day they find themselves both in a tight situation, they turn to each other for help. Soon, their relationship as neighbors starts to shift into something more. But will the two opposites collide? Or stick together in the sweetest way?

Dadgum it, Snow! Back at it again with an amazing story! (P.S. I have no regrets referring to a popular Vine)
So this time for a mature warning, all you have from me is a note about the language and some suggestive references. But it's SIGNIFICANTLY more family friendly than what Forbidden Literature ever was. Snow's reasoning for this (as you can find from an author's note) is that when you put that little "Mature Warning" on the front of your story, it keeps your story from ever being featured on the Wattpad site. The story almost becomes completely hidden even if you were to put "Forbidden Literature" in the search bar. So what the author has smartly done was that she made a compilation for the more adult chapters called Bittersweet: Restricted and has a more chilled-out version of that chapter in the regular story- so your eyes won't burn out if you care to stay innocent.
Getting to a huge part of the story, one of the few things that stood out to me the most about Bittersweet is the character development. It's absolutely phenomenal. Snow has an amazing way of making you believe that the character's she's writing are actually real rather than the imaginings of her mind, even down to the last period at the end of a dialogue.

After bagging up the cinnamon bagels, I grabbed some napkins and handed it to one of my favorite customers.
"Here you go, Mrs. Qualls," I smiled cheerfully. "I put some honey and some of that strawberry cream cheese you like down in the bag for you."
"Oh, thank you Ms. Katy," the elderly woman smiled back and took the bag a little shakingly. "You always know how to brighten my day."
I waved her off while closing the cash register. "It's no problem at all ma'am. Seeing you and your grandsons every morning makes my day, too."
---
Even the little actions that a character does seems realistic; like when Mrs. Qualls took the bagel bag with a bit of a shake in her hand. The author's attention to details is what really sells you and reels you in.
The pacing never felt rushed to me. There's a good balance between "Showing and Telling" which is a huge main factor to keeping the story moving along, but not to the point to where it's moving too fast to where it's hard to feel immersed.

The small, white bakery looked like it might have once been a house that belonged to a family. It even had a porch now vacated with small round tables and chairs. A large pink sign that read 'Katy Cakes' hung down in front of the place along with bright colored flowers around it. Three large windows gave a preview of the goodies inside on display and waiting to be bought.
Even if I didn't know Katy well, I had to admit this place looked exactly like what I would expect from her. Small, bright, and cheerful.
Everything that I am not.

It's difficult NOT to feel what the characters are feeling. Or maybe I easily get emotional. Not sure if I can tell- but I'm pretty sure it's the former mentioned.
AustenSnowWrites are one of the few authors on this site that's a gem in the Romance/Chick-Lit catagories and what I believe has the potential to become a very successful published author someday if she decides to go that route. I give this story a whopping ten stars out of ten because it's just that good and because I feel like it.
Oh, wait. I usually mention bad grammar before I wrap up the review, don't I? Phfffftttt- there's almost no mistakes to speak of anyway. I have no idea if Snow is just that lucky or if it's her degree in writing that's lending it's hand, but I'm hard pressed to find any spelling mistakes.
SO WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE? Go check Bittersweet out!

Author's Note:
Hey, guys! Like the snazzy new star ranking system? I'm kinda pleased with it. <3
Also, if you've noticed, it's been awhile since I've posted a review! I've been busy doing other projects, dealing with sickness, and trying to figure out real life. Reallllyyyyy sorry about that. Hopefully I'll be able to get to a place where I'm not constantly procrastinating on Youtube. xD
I hope you've all been doing well, and I hope you have a good week! ~Felicity
