About the Previous Chapter and Life
I had that ready to post since March, and I was pretty sure that I did post it. Apparently I didn't, weirdly. I went on the real hike in April, and I really don't feel like recounting it now. Maybe sometime later.
So, it's finally summer. I've been waiting for summer since before last summer ended, so it was VERY anticipated. Seriously though, I want to do so much this summer. I want to say I can just chill and relax, but because I've blessed with such a beautiful brain, I'm going to a competition in Spain with some schoolmates. We qualified in the local round of the competition, and now we're moving on to the global round, which takes place at three different places at three different times. The teams (of three) can choose which country they want to go, and our principal picked Barcelona, Spain, when the competition takes place in July. The other options were Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June and Melbourne, Australia in August.
There are twelve of us, so four teams. If we qualify again, we'll be going to the final round in November at Yale University, where other qualifiers from both our round and the two other rounds will meet together and compete.
Oh, but I haven't told you what the competition is about yet, have I? I have to blatantly say that it's a nerd gathering. It's called the World Scholar's Cup, where students participate in debates and tests, and write pieces (essays, poems, etc), both separately and collaboratively. Gets the blood pumping and those brain cells working. The thing is, we received this curriculum with 6 broad topics with introductory questions, words and discussion questions, all to research and discuss with our teammates. It's a lot of information to cover, and the mistake we made when preparing for our round was just learning a topic each. You see, we were never told my our coach and superiors that we'd be split in three. They told us one senior team, with five of us, and two junior teams, in whatever way they were going to split up the remaining seven. So on the individual test we took that asked questions on all 6 topics, we weren't able to do as good as we could have done. But I'm not complaining, since we qualified :).
Aside from this, I want to spend time honing my skills. I'm a huge music fan, and I love singing and making music. I play the guitar, piano and the clarinet, and I used to play the drums, but I need new equipment for that. I'm hoping to get a drum set, maybe this summer. I love acting as well, and voice acting is just amazing. I plan on getting a mic and an interface, and to set up my studio for both voice acting and making songs, both original ones and covers. Gotta put those instruments and my talent to use, after all. Can't let them rot- gotta show my gratitude.
And of course I'm a nerd and a geek (we discussed this already), so from the moment school ended I have been playing games. Xbox, mmorpgs, and recently games on Steam. Still new to that. I've been reading a lot, and anime is there, too. Right up in there with anime is learning Japanese, along with Spanish. I'm also seriously getting back into programming, and that brings me to my last activity- writing. Typing this up right now is even something surprising for me, but I'm hoping to make it more regular. Not this book specifically, but to start publishing stories of my own. It'd be about time.
So going forward, I'd like to ask all of you for your support. This writing thing is no child play, and I'm fully dedicated to accepting the hardships. I would like for you all to help me in whatever way you can- even just talking to me. It'll give me a lot more help than you may think. I'm freer since it's summer time, so I'm open to doing editing again, and just being available on the whole.
Thanks to everyone who has been here for me, is here for me now and to those who will be there for me. Until next time!
