    The School for Troubled Boys aka The Wayside Ward is a place for "troubled boys". Pretty self explanatory. Except, that "troubled" could mean a lot of things.
    When Allen Walker, Kanda Yuu, and Lavi are sent to the school, they know that something's off, they could feel it. Everyone has a secret, it's just a matter of what it is.
    Allen Walker–He was abandoned by his parents, it turns out this school is kind of like a orphanage, a very dangerous orphanage. His parents sent him to the school, showing a bit of pity. Though, however how kind and nice he is, it still doesn't make up for his secret.
    Kanda Yuu–Son of a noble family. He has this rebellious attitude, not willing to take over his family's business as new head of the family. Since he is the only child, they must put all the work on him, due to lack of love and attention, he's only relied upon himself, but what happens when the Ward teaches him otherwise?
Lavi–He doesn't know himself anymore, I guess it's called Identity Crisis. He has been so many people he can't even recall one aspect of himself. He is sent to the Ward for memory recovery and the fixing of his goofy, careless attitude, but what happens when it's all an act?
Adapted and inspired from The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall, you should read it, it teaches a lesson about loss.
