The wolf within me
Call me cringe all you want but I wanted to make a werewolf thing. So yeah this'll feature werewolf stuff. Well, they're objects sooo yeah. Enjoy! See this as a Halloween special because I thought of it coincidentally while it's Spooky Month.
Microphone and Lightbulb had a wonderful relationship. It was them against the world and even when they went down, they always managed to come up again. They loved each other til the very end and they would always be there for each other. They had been dating for two years now. It was beautiful in every way.
But even though they had this amazing relationship, Lightbulb couldn't help but notice that Microphone sometimes acted... strange, especially when it was full moon. At day she would act more... primal - Lightbulb didn't know how else to describe it, but Mic would act more like a puppy while still keeping her humanoid mind, like she'd sometimes lick Lightbulb's face and bulb to show affection as well as getting more affectionate - and at night she'd disappear. Lightbulb thought Mic's "puppy side", as she would call it, was pretty silly and adorable, but she would often worry when Mic disappeared. She had tried asking Mic about it, but Microphone would often avoid the question or say something like "Zilch, don't worry about it". This only worried Lightbulb more, because first of all, what was "zilch" supposed to mean? And second of all, usually Mic was more open about problems. At least with her.
So that's why Lightbulb decided that, one night, she would follow Microphone, or at least search for her, to ask what was wrong and why she always disappeared on full moon nights. She had her plan in her head, sorted well enough to remember. At night she'd go out. She could give off light anyway so it wasn't like she would get lost. Hopefully.
That evening, Lightbulb and Mic were cuddling. Mic was softly nuzzling and licking Lightbulb's face and bulb. Lightbulb cuddled closer to Mic. It was warm and nice. Mic was protectively holding Lightbulb. That was also something she did more when her "puppy side" came out; she'd hold Lightbulb way more protectively than normal. It felt safe and nice. Eventually, Lightbulb felt herself doze off in the warmth of their hug.
That night, she woke up. She was alone. Microphone had disappeared. It was time to go with the plan she thought of. She got out of bed and walked out of her room, through the halls of the hotel. Her light was bright enough for her to see where she was going. She went outside, looking around for Microphone. She would call out to her, but she didn't want to wake anyone up. So instead she searched silently.
After a while she still didn't find Microphone. She had looked everywhere, but still, no results. There was one place she hadn't looked, though: the forest. She wasn't happy with this. As much as she could provide herself with light, she was still a little scared of this place. She knew she could get lost, or eaten, or worse, so she wasn't a big fan of this. But she reminded herself that she would do this for her girlfriend. To make sure she's safe. To make sure she's okay.
With newfound courage, she finally entered the forest. It was dark, but her light at least provided a sense of safety. Wild animals wouldn't eat her right? They'd run away from light, right? She hoped so. She looked around, searching for Microphone. This time she did call out.
"Mic? Micsy? Where are you?" She called. "Micsy!"
No response. Only birds flying up as they got startled by Lightbulb's yelling. An owl hoo'ed. As cute as that was, Lightbulb wasn't searching for an owl, she was searching for her beloved Microphone.
The forest was pretty scary but also not as ugly as Lightbulb thought it would be in the dark. Her light gave it a comforting warm glow too. It was really eerie, but in the most beautiful way. Noises of animals like crickets and owls could be heard everywhere. If Lightbulb wasn't so desperate to find her beloved music freak girlfriend, she would've stood still to admire all of this. But she kept on walking instead, occasionally calling out, with no response each time.
As she was walking, she started feeling more desperate and scared that she would never be able to find Microphone. It didn't help that she started feeling like she was getting watched. She tried to shake the feeling off, but it was hard. She decided to keep walking. It was probably just in her head, or bulb, if you will.
Suddenly, she heard growling come from somewhere. She stood still in her tracks, her light dimming. Damn her emotions influencing the quality of her light! She listened closely, to hear if the growling would come back. And it did, it got even closer. Lightbulb looked around anxiously. She then saw something that looked closest to a wolf. It bared its teeth, its green eyes glinstering in the moonlight, as Lightbulb's light was dimmed too much to actually be reflected.
Lightbulb started running, her light being dimmed still so she couldn't see anything well, but she didn't care. She kept running. She heard something, which she assumed was the wolf creature, chasing her, but she kept running. Sticks and branches from trees slapped into her face, causing her bulb to get little scratches. She let out a scared sound that was in between a yell and a whimper as she kept running, filled with fear and panic.
Then, suddenly, her foot got stuck behind something, causing her to trip and fall. Her foot hurt, as it got stuck behind whatever made her trip. Her bulb also cracked from the impact of the fall as it hit the ground. She yelped in pain. Her light was fully out now. She felt around for anything to hold onto. She found a stick, which she grabbed immediately. Better something to defend yourself than nothing. Well, if you can even defend yourself while one of your feet was hurting. The pain in her foot got worse. Shit. That was at least strained or bruised for sure, if not broken.
She heard the growling again, as well as footsteps approaching her. She would run away, but her foot was hurting too much. She didn't have any other choice, so she decided to look and see what she would possibly have to fight.
In front of her stood the same wolf figure. It was hard to make out in the dark what it exactly was, but it was tall. Or maybe that was because it was standing on its hind legs. Why was it standing like that? Lightbulb wasn't sure. Normal wolves don't stand on their hind legs right? The creature had wolf ears on the top of its head, which stood upright. It was baring its teeth and growling, its tail swaying around angrily. It had big, hairy paws with large claws. Okay, yep, that wouldn't be a fight she would win let alone survive. Lightbulb decided that if running from it and fighting it weren't the best options, she would try to talk the creature out of eating her.
"Please, don't eat me!" Okay, begging it out of eating her. "I have a girlfriend! She would be very sad!"
At hearing Lightbulb's voice, the wolf creature's aggressive demeanor disappeared, getting replaced with confusion and surprise. It leaned closer. Lightbulb whimpered and curled in on herself, protecting her vital organs (do objects have organs?). She then got surprised herself as the wolf began to... sniff her? It sniffed, as if taking in her smell. It then backed up, letting out a soft noise. Lightbulb looked up, looking the creature in the eyes.
"S-See? I'm not food! I h-have a stick you can eat though. I've eaten a stick before. They're- They're pretty good!" She showed the creature the stick, hoping it would take that and leave her alone.
Instead of taking the stick, however, the wolf did something completely unexpected: it spoke.
"Lightbulb...?" Its voice sounded hoarse and raspy, but it sounded very familiar too. Why though?
Lightbulb got pretty confused and scared from it.
"What? Omga! How do you know my name? Why can you talk?! Who are you?!" She tried to back away, trying to kick the creature off of herself in the process, breathe short and shallow.
She was getting lightheaded from pure fear now. The creature softly put its paw on Lightbulb. That seemed to be too much for Lightbulb, who found herself losing consciousness and fainted on the spot.
Lightbulb then woke up and found herself still in the forest. She was laying on a soft patch of moss. The creature was sitting beside her, softly whimpering and licking Lightbulb's face. As soon as Lightbulb opened her eyes and groaned, the creature perked up.
"You're awake! Thank god..." it spoke.
"Uhhnnn... Where am I- Ah! Get away from me!" Lightbulb tried to get away but the creature firmly put its paw on Lightbulb.
Lightbulb stood still. Immediately.
"I'm sorry, just don't eat me, please!" She turned away, but then noticed how much her foot and her head hurt.
The creature looked confused.
"You still think I'm going to eat you?" It asked.
Lightbulb turned to the creature. She raised a brow. The creature looked back at her.
"Doesn't my voice sound familiar to you?" The creature asked.
Lightbulb thought. The creature sighed.
"Lighty, use your light."
Lighty? Wait, that- The only one who called her that was...
"Wait a minute... MIC?!" Lightbulb was dumbfounded.
She turned her light on, which hurt her damaged bulb but she didn't care. In the light, she could finally see the creature. It looked a LOT like Microphone. Was it really her...?
"Hehe, you guessed it." Microphone said, smiling.
Her sharp teeth got bared with the smile. Lightbulb gasped, even more confused now.
"Wh- But- But how?!" That was all she could exclaim.
Mic chuckled, a bit sadly.
"Yeah, I'm a werewolf." She clarified.
"Wha-" Lightbulb was still confused until it clicked. "You never told me?!" She then asked.
Mic sighed. Her ears lowered a bit.
"Yeah... I... Honestly, I was pretty scared of you... judging me. I have always been scared of people judging me for it. The only ones who know are Taco and Knife. And you too now." Microphone explained.
Lightbulb nodded, taking in this information.
"Have you ever been judged before?" She asked.
Mic nodded.
"By others, yeah, but not people you know. When I joined Inanimate Insanity, I decided to keep it a secret. I'm... sorry for not telling you sooner. It's just that I get more primal when I get into this form and I get the desire to... to hunt. And that's why I always disappear on full moon nights, to satisfy that hunger, and so I don't end up eating someone else."
Lightbulb just now noticed the specks of blood on Mic's face. She felt a little disturbed but amazed at the same time.
"Is that why you act like a puppy during the day?" She asked.
Mic nodded.
"Yeah. It... doesn't bother you, does it?" She looked down, a bit embarrassed now.
Lightbulb smiled. She then hugged Lightbulb, immediately noticing how she had had a layer of fur covering her whole body.
"Not at all, Micsy! I think it's silly and cute!"
Microphone felt herself blush. Thank god the fur on her face covered it. But her ears did get a slightly red color which gave it away.
"Aww! I can still see your blush, Micsy, your cute ears are giving it away!" Lightbulb said happily, starting to play with Mic's ears.
Mic growled a bit but then blushed and started whimpering softly and her tail started wagging. Her tail was longer than normal. Lightbulb laughed.
"You're the cutest werewolf I've ever seen." She said.
Mic's ears lowered in embarrassment but her wagging tail gave away that she enjoyed it. Her emotions had been intensified with her transformation, and it was very noticeable. Unfortunately for Microphone, Lightbulb enjoyed this and took it as an opportunity to tease her more. She continued petting Mic's ears and head, enjoying how Mic happily whimpered and her tail wagging on the ground, slapping on it violently. Mic was embarrassed but happy to see her girlfriend still being the happy and accepting ray of sunshine that loved her. Mic decided to just give into her happiness and pulled Lightbulb into a hug, laying down with her and licking her face. Lightbulb burst into a fit of laughter.
"Haha! It tickles!!" She exclaimed happily.
Microphone pulled away after a while. Lightbulb's face was covered in warm blush and Mic's saliva. She looked a little dazed and had a stupid grin on her face. Mic giggled, her tongue still sticking out. Lightbulb wiped the saliva off as best as she could. She then realized she had to go back to bed with Mic now that she'd found her.
"Micsy, I think we should go back to bed." She said.
She wanted to get up, but then let out a pained moan when her foot started to hurt as soon as she tried. Mic worriedly hugged Lightbulb. Soft whimpers escaped her.
"Lightbulb, you're injured." She said.
Lightbulb smiled.
"I'll be fine, Micsy." She said, before trying again.
She got up (with a lot of effort) and tried to walk, again to no avail. She suddenly felt Microphone scoop her up bridal style.
"If you want to go to bed so badly, I'm going to at least carry you there. I don't need sleep in my current form, but I will go with you so you won't get lost or further injured." Microphone said.
Lightbulb blushed and giggled.
"Wow, you're so strong now, heh." She was, admittedly, a little flustered.
Mic smiled, baring her sharp teeth.
"It's the wolf within me. Okay, never mind, that sounded cringe." She laughed.
Lightbulb laughed along.
"Well to me it sounded cool."
Microphone started walking.
"It's not that cool." She said.
"I still think it's cool." Lightbulb insisted.
Microphone shook her head.
"It's really not." She kept her opinion, but she couldn't help but smile when Lightbulb kept looking at her with pure adoration. "Okay, maybe it's a little cool."
Lightbulb giggled. She then suddenly thought of something that spiked her curiosity.
"Hey, uh, can you howl? Like, to the full moon and stuff?" She asked.
Microphone looked a bit taken aback by that question.
"Uh, yeah, but I'm not gonna do it." She replied.
Lightbulb pouted.
"Aww, please?"
"No."
"Pleaaaseeeee?"
"I will literally bite you."
Mic said that more jokingly than seriously, but still it caused Lightbulb to blush and fan herself, though that was also noticeably meant as a joke.
"Ooh, damn, slow down there, wolfer." She said with a grin, causing Microphone to blush.
Microphone just decided to not say anything and only give a playful nibble to Lightbulb's shoulder instead, causing her to yelp a bit and laugh.
Eventually, they reached the hotel. Mic looked around cautiously before going inside. She went to their shared room and laid Lightbulb down carefully. She then looked around for the first aid kit she once got because, honestly, you just have to if your girlfriend is the embodiment of clumsiness. She found it and proceeded to take care of Lightbulb's leg, which was only strained, Mic noticed upon observation. An ice pack from the mini fridge and some bandages to keep it in place would have to do. Mic then cuddled up to Lightbulb. Lightbulb cuddled back, smiling as she buried her face in Mic's furry chest.
She ended up falling asleep in Mic's arms. Mic was still awake, keeping watch over Lightbulb. She wrapped her tail around her girlfriend protectively, suddenly realizing how happy she was that Lightbulb still accepted her in her wolf form. It was strange, sure, but Lightbulb did not dislike it. Mic closed her eyes, letting out a happy whimper as she relaxed, waiting for herself to naturally transform back into her normal self. After that, she'd sleep, while still being peacefully wrapped around her bright girlfriend.
Hope y'all enjoyed! Also sorry for dying lmao, I'm more active on AO3 nowadays :P Also I have my own design for Werewolf Mic that actually LOOKS GOOD compared to the art you see on the internet. So behold, my sopping wet dog Werewolf Mic design!
As well as a few material study doodles I made for school:
She's such a sipping wet dawg I love her. I've made more drawings but I might show those in a different chapter because I'm feeling tired rn like I just got out of school and showered gimme a break! Yeah you hear that right, this Wattpadder here actually showers. Stay clean (and hydrated) guys!
