Taking care of you

Let's start with a lovely hurt/comfort fic :3 They're humans. Enjoy!!

Lightbulb had been bottling up her emotions all week. The week had been rough, but she had told everyone she was fine. Work was tough, didn't matter, she was fine.

But in reality, she wasn't. She had been feeling down and just wanted to cry, to be held, to be comforted. The problem was that she didn't know how to say it. She was also kind of scared she'd get rejected if she tried to seek for comfort. She always had that when she was younger. When she tried to show her parents she wasn't fine, they'd just wave it off, telling her to suck it up, or just completely ignore her and not even acknowledge her.

It was Friday, the last day of work for the week. Lightbulb was finally done. She walked out, only to realize it was going to rain soon. She hadn't brought an umbrella. Great. She decided to walk home anyway.

While Lightbulb was walking, she felt rain droplets fall on her. She shrugged it off at first, hoping it wouldn't get worse before she got home. But it did get worse. The rain started falling harder and faster from the sky. It got so bad pools of rain water started forming on the ground.

Lightbulb came across a road and was ready to cross the road when a car drove, going exactly over a pool of water, splashing it over Lightbulb, soaking her.

"Hey, watch out!" Lightbulb yelled.

Of course the driver couldn't hear her. Oh well. Lightbulb crossed the road. She decided to run the last part to her and her girlfriend Microphone's house. That way she would be home at least a little faster. But when she ran, she tripped over something. She yelped as she fell. She ended up scraping her knee and thereby also fucking up her new pants. She whimpered as she got up, trying to ignore the burning pain on her knee, and walked home.

She finally came home and opened the front door. The warmth of the inside of the house made her feel a little more content. Though she was still not happy. She hung her coat as she shivered, realizing how cold she was. Lightbulb opened the door that separated the hallway and the living room, only to be greeted by Mic walking up to her happily.

"Lightbulb! How was wo-" Mic grew concerned as soon as she saw how Lightbulb looked: soaking wet from the rain, her pants torn, blood coming from her knee, "What happened to you?! Are you okay?"

Lightbulb was silent. Then, she finally began to cry, after holding everything in for a week. She didn't know why, but Microphone being so concerned for her, just because she was a little soaked and had a mild injury, broke something in her. Microphone immediately hugged her close, ignoring the fact her clothes would get wet. Lightbulb choked out sobs and tears.

"I-I'm sorry," she cried, "I don't kn- know why I'm crying!"

"Oh Lightbulb," Mic said, "you don't have to apologize... Everyone cries sometimes. What happened that upset you so much?"

Lightbulb sobbed for a few moments before she started to talk.

"M-my whole week has- has been bad! Work was shitty, my coworkers were being shifty and today the weather was shitty! The reason why I'm wet is because- because a car drove over some rain water and splashed me. The reason why my knee is scraped is because I tripped while running the last part home." Lightbulb explained.

Microphone listened to her rambling, just rubbing her back comfortingly. She then remembered Lightbulb was still injured. She let go.

"Lightbulb, I'm really sorry that happened to you, and I really want to make you feel better by hugging it out, but you're injured. We'll take care of that first, okay?" She said.

Lightbulb looked down, remembering it too.

"Oh, yeah, fuck."

"Go sit down on the couch while I grab the first aid kit." Mic said softly.

Lightbulb nodded. Still shivering and crying a bit, she went to sit down on the couch. Mic came to her with a first aid kit and some rubbing alcohol.

"Lighty, take your pants off. I need to take care of your wound and bandage it." She explained.

Lightbulb took her pants off. She blushed in slight embarrassment. Her legs were cold and wet from the rain that soaked through her pants. She looked at the torn hole in the knee of the pants.

"It was a new pair..." she said sadly.

"We can buy new clothes tomorrow. Or I can sew it back together." Mic reassured her.

She put some rubbing alcohol on a sterile pad and looked at Lightbulb.

"Lighty, this will hurt, but I need to do this because otherwise it will infect. Do you want to hold my hand?" Mic said.

Lightbulb thought before nodding. Mic extended her free hand and Lightbulb grabbed it. Microphone then pressed the sterile pad against Lightbulb's wounded knee, making her hiss in pain and squeeze Mic's hand. Microphone rubbed Lightbulb's knuckles with her thumb.

"M-Mic, it doesn't feel good..." Lightbulb said.

"I know, but you're doing good." Microphone replied.

She then removed the alcohol pad and grabbed a bandaid. She patched up Lightbulb's knee and leaned in to give her a small kiss on her cheek as a reward. Lightbulb leaned against her, sighing. She shivered again. Microphone noticed.

"I think it's best if you change." She said.

Lightbulb clung onto a Mic.

"But I want to stay with you..."

"Lightbulb, I love you, but you'll get cold. So please change into something warm and comfy. I'll make you something nice while you're gone." Mic insisted.

Lightbulb sighed as she got up.

"Fine..." she said. "And I love ya too."

Microphone blushed. Lightbulb smiled and did finger guns before going to change. Microphone giggled. She then went into the kitchen to make the both of them a warm cup of tea, putting it in their favorite mugs. Mic's favorite mug was a black mug that said "Rock 'n Roll" in white letters, Lightbulb's favorite mug was a white mug with in orange letters "#1 Brightest Bulb" and a yellow Lightbulb beneath it. When she came back with the tea, she set the two cups on the coffee table. She then sat down to wait for Lightbulb.

Lightbulb eventually came down, wearing grey sweatpants and a yellow hoodie. She sat down next to Microphone and then saw the cups of tea. She squealed softly when she saw that Mic had made her tea in her favorite mug.

"Omga, my favorite mug!" She said as she grabbed it.

Microphone smiled. She pulled Lightbulb close to her. Lightbulb was already feeling better, until she thought of something. She was always so clumsy and goofy, yet still Microphone took care of her. She suddenly started feeling a little guilty. Mic always had to take care of her weird ass getting into trouble. Lightbulb looked down into her tea. Mic noticed Lightbulb being quiet.

"Lighty, is everything okay?" She asked.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." Lightbulb replied.

"No, you're not fine. You seem upset about something. What is it?"

"It's pretty stupid, you don't have to worry..."

"Lightbulb, being upset about something is never stupid. What's on your mind?" Microphone looked at Lightbulb.

Lightbulb sighed.

"Fine, I'll tell you. It's just that... I feel like I'm always the one having to be taken care of because I'm so stupid. Hell, I can't even run home without tripping. And even if I'm so stupid, you're always there for me, no matter what. And I appreciate it, I really do! But... it's making me feel like such a loser, y'know..." Lightbulb replied. She felt tears well up in her eyes again as she looked into her tea. "I don't even deserve it..."

Microphone put her mug down on the coffee table before wrapping her arms around Lightbulb. Lightbulb started crying again. She reached her hand with the mug So Mic could put it away (as this was easier since she was wrapped in Mic's arms). Mic took the hint and put the mug on the coffee table before taking Lightbulb in a firm yet soft and comforting hug.

"Lightbulb, that's not stupid at all," she said, "I know you feel stupid for having to be taken care of, but I don't see you as such. When I look at you, I see an amazing girl who can act silly, sure, but is the most amazing person on earth. I always take care of you because when you're sad or hurt, I feel sad. And I just want to see your pretty smile again. That's why I always try to make you feel better. I enjoy spending time with you, Lighty, and I love you. Never forget that." Microphone said.

Each word was sincere. It made Lightbulb cling onto her tighter, starting to sob more, but this time it was because she felt loved and accepted.

"I love you too!" She cried.

Microphone just rubbed Lightbulb's back.

"It's ok, let it all out." She spoke.

Lightbulb continued crying in Microphone's arms, calming down slowly but surely.

Eventually, Lightbulb pulled away.

"T-thank you," she spoke, "thank you for being there for me."

"You're welcome." Microphone replied.

The two let go of each other again, grabbing their mugs again and drinking their tea. Lightbulb leaned back, sighing contently. Microphone smiled.

"Feeling any better?" She asked.

"Yeah..." Lightbulb replied, smiling back.

The two spent the rest of their day cuddling and relaxing, making sure they both felt relaxed for the weekend.

Lmaooooo I started crying while writing this and when I asked myself why I was crying I found out it was because I was projecting a little too much onto Lightbulb when I wrote the part about her feeling stupid for being taken care of. I'm ok now though. I love hurt/comfort fics. Expect more of them in this book!
