Met her at a disco bar
They're humans. Enjoy!
Microphone had been going through some shit lately. She had broken up with her now ex girlfriend Taco, things had been stressful for her, yeah, she was just not doing so well. She would ask Soap to come over, but Soap was working on her own issues at the moment, so that wasn't an option either.
Knife, her half brother, had noticed how she was not feeling well, since she seemed to not be online as much and not respond as enthusiastically to his texts as before, so one day, he had decided to come over to her to see if she needed any support.
Microphone was just chilling on the couch, bored and kind of depressed. She then heard the doorbell.
"What the...?" Microphone mumbled as she got up.
She walked to the door, not really feeling like it but also feeling like it could be one of the many things she ordered on Memazon from her spare money. She always kept some money apart for fun purchases, and for the last two weeks, she had ordered some random stuff because she didn't know what else she could do. She had been working from home since a few months prior, so she could just scroll and order random stuff from Memazon if she wanted to right after she was done.
Microphone opened the door, only to see Knife. She was first a little disappointed for a split second, but then realized she was actually really happy to see Knife.
"Knife! I haven't seen you in a while!" She said, hugging him. "What are you doing here?" She then asked, not complaining, but very surprised to see him.
Usually they'd just make a time and date to hang out, but now Knife just came to see her? That's new.
"Well, I came here to check on you. You don't really respond so much to my texts so I felt like something was up." Knife replied.
"Wait, what?" Mic was surprised Knife could figure that out just from the way she texted.
"I know how you act when you're happy," Knife said, "you always send many texts or just excited texts in caps lock. But now your texts are short and a bit... sad."
"Oh." Microphone looked down.
"So do you wanna tell me what's up?" Knife asked.
Microphone hesitated but then nodded. Maybe it was better if she let her feelings out.
"Come in." She told Knife.
Knife nodded and followed Mic to the living room, where they both sat down on the couch.
"So, what's up?" Knife asked.
"Well, life has just been... pretty harsh lately," Microphone replied, "I've been stressed out pretty much lately and I also broke up with Taco because I found out some shit about her-"
"Wait, sorry for interrupting, but hold up, Taco? You dated her?" Knife asked, dumbfounded bu this information.
Microphone sighed.
"Yeah, I thought I'd give her a chance, but she blew it. So I broke up with her. And now she's been texting me about how she misses me and stuff. I blocked her, but she just continued on my other socials."
"Damn, I'm... sorry to hear that." Knife said, "Y'know, if I were you, I'd forget about her. She's trash. Pickle used to be friends with her. She did some shit to him too. Ever since he's dating me he's been feeling better though. Yeah, what I'm saying is: just don't do shit with her anymore. Burn all her memories, find new love, if you're ready. Just don't talk to her anymore. No one needs her pity."
"Well, I really want to forget her, but I... I kinda have trouble letting go. I don't know why. She gave me a sort of comfort but also excitement. It felt so wrong but so right. And now I can't let her go. Also, I don't really want to go out and talk to people right now." Microphone explained.
"I know it's hard, but you can't let her get to you. It'll only destroy your mental health if you do." Knife said, "Hey, I have an idea. I know a disco bar nearby where parties regularly happen. Pickle and I go there a lot. Would you like to come with us one time? Tomorrow we're going there, and maybe you can gain some new friends or just dance around to forget your problems for a while."
Microphone thought. It did seem like a good idea. Maybe she could dance there too. Music always made her feel better. And maybe she could make new friends there.
"Hm, okay then, I'll go with you." She said after some thinking.
"Good. I'll pick you up tomorrow." Knife said.
Microphone smiled.
"Thanks," she said, "thank you for being there for me."
"It's nothing, just looking out for my half sis." Knife replied with a smile.
The two hugged. Microphone felt happy. She was glad to have such a nice half brother in her life.
Tomorrow came soon and Microphone decided to put on a black sweater with the text "I'M NOT YOUR SWEETHEART" on it in big white letters. Beneath that she put on a dark purple skirt and dark grey leggings. It was pretty cold outside so this outfit was perfect. She let her curly hair just hang loose, but did apply something to it to make it extra curly.
She then went downstairs to wait for Knife. He had sent her a text where he told her at what time he'd pick her up.
SHARPie🔪: Hey, I'll pick you up at 9 pm. Is that ok to you?
Microphone had replied with a quick "yep🤲" and then quickly sent a "👍* wrong emoji lmao". Now she just had to wait for him to show up. It was 8:57 pm so he'd be there in three minutes.
And then he indeed arrived, two minutes later, but still. Microphone quickly got up and went up to Knife, hugging him. Knife hugged back.
"Hey!" She said happily.
"Hey Mic, ready to go?" Knife asked.
Mic let go of the hug.
"Yep!" She said, with a thumbs up.
Knife laughed, remembering the little typo Mic made.
"Don't you mean this?" He asked, making the 🤲 emoji gesture with his hands.
"Pfft- shut up." Microphone said, playfully punching him as she walked past him to his car.
Knife snickered, following Microphone to the car. He sat down on the driver's seat as Microphone sat down on the backseat, since Pickle was sitting on the passenger's seat.
"Hey Mic," he greeted her, "how's it going? I heard from Knife what happened and I just wanna tell you that breaking up with Taco was the best thing you could've done. She's a bitch."
Microphone smiled slightly.
"It's kinda hard to let go of her because she keeps messaging me, but still thanks." She thanked Pickle.
"Oh, she did that to me too. She'll stop eventually. I'm also sure you'll find new cool friends at the party. If you wanna hang out with us or just dance instead, that's cool too." Pickle reassured Mic.
Mic smiled more. Knife then started the car. The song "highway to hell" was playing on the radio. Microphone, Pickle and Knife proceeded to loudly sing along while driving to the party. Microphone was happy, but sort of nervous too. She knew she hadn't been out much in a while so talking to people would maybe be a bit difficult. But she still had faith. Besides, if anything went wrong, she could just go back to Knife and Pickle again.
Eventually, they arrived at the disco. They got out of the car and went into the disco bar. In the bar there was indeed a party going on. It was a pretty good party too. A disco ball was turning around and a pretty good party song was playing.
When was the last time, did something for the first time?
Cuz I need a good night to last for a lifetime.
Don't need a reason to dive in my deep end.
Somethin' to believe in, found God on the weekend.
This song (it's a really nice party song and I got inspired to write this while listening to it and imagining some Micbulb party scenario)

Mic nodded her head to the beat. Knife and Pickle smiled at each other.
"Mic, Pickle and I are gonna vibe. You can just do whatever. If you want to find us, just ask the bartender, he knows us since we come here pretty often." Knife told Mic.
Mic nodded. She didn't want to be alone, but maybe this was for the best. She's her own person. Not someone who needs the help or control of others. She just decided to dance on the dance floor. She saw Knife and Pickle heading there as well to dance with each other. Mic waved to them before starting to dance on her own, vibing to the music and letting it consume her and just make her let go of her worries for now. She closed her eyes while she got lost in the music.
As she was dancing, she suddenly bumped into someone. She opened her eyes and looked at who she bumped into. It was a girl with blond, wavy hair that was draping over her shoulders. She was wearing a shirt with a yellow and white stripes pattern and a skirt with a light grey and dark grey checkered pattern. The sneakers she was wearing on her feet were grey with white shoelaces and soles. Her skin was light, in comparison to Mic's skin, which was dark.
"Whoops- sorry." Mic apologized.
The girl grinned.
"Hey, no worries." She said, "I ain't judgin'. I drift away too sometimes."
Microphone smiled.
"Heh, yeah, I kinda lost myself there, heheh." She said awkwardly.
The girl giggled.
"Music makes ya lose control, am I right?"
Mic nodded.
"That's what I love about it." She said.
"Hey, me too!" The girl said happily.
Microphone couldn't help but smile. The blonde girl smiled back.
"Welp, I'm gonna dance some more. C'ya 'round!" She said before disappearing into the crowd.
"Bye...!" Mic called out hesitantly before she continued to dance.
Eventually, Microphone was tired. She probably should've put on something less warm. She huffed as she sat down at the bar, which was near the dance floor. Here she could rest for a while.
Then, someone sat down next to her. Microphone looked, only to be faced with the same blonde girl from earlier.
"Heya," the girl said, "ya wanna drink?"
Microphone nodded hesitantly. The blonde girl turned to the bartender, who had short hair that was colored in a color that was in between purple and pink and was wearing a suit. He also had a black mouth mask with a grey line on it which looked like a heartbeat. A straight line was crossed through the heartbeat, making a pretty cool print.
"Hey MePad, can ya give this pretty girl something to drink?" The blonde girl asked him.
"Sure! What do you want to drink?" The bartender, whose name appeared to be MePad, asked Microphone. The grey pattern on his mouth mask lit up blue every time he spoke.
"Oh, I'd like a DrFizz." Mic replied.
"Hey, I love DrFizz!" The blonde girl said happily, "I want one too, MePad!"
"On it!" MePad said before disappearing to get the drinks.
"So, uhm, what's your name?" Mic asked nervously, "I'm glad you got me that drink and all, but I don't even know your name."
"Oh, yeah, heh, sorry, I'm Lightbulb." The girl said, smiling sheepishly.
"I'm Microphone." Microphone said.
She was kind of stunned by how confident and social Lightbulb was, while she was already nervous about asking about Lightbulb's name.
MePad came back with the drinks.
"Here are your drinks." MePad said happily, setting the drinks down in front of them.
Lightbulb immediately grabbed her drink and opened it. She took a big sip and swallowed, but then proceeded to cough.
"Oh, shit, are you okay?" Mic asked, worried.
Lightbulb continued coughing for a moment before stopping.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I just got a bit too excited, heheh." She told Mic.
Microphone smiled, happy that Lightbulb was okay.
"So, ya come here often?" Lightbulb asked.
Microphone blushed again, not knowing why.
"No, it's my first time here. My half brother Knife took me here because I'm going through some shit right now." She then replied. "He thought it might cheer me up. And he was right, I do feel a bit better now."
"Oh, I'm glad to hear you feel better now. Also, Knife eh? I know that guy. He's there with Pickle." Lightbulb pointed somewhere, "We talk sometimes. I never knew he had a half sister. Let alone that she was so pretty."
Microphone blushed even more, quickly taking a sip of her drink in an attempt to cool herself down. How was Lightbulb so confident? And so straightforward too!
"Well, he never told me about you either." Microphone said after swallowing her drink.
"Hm," Lightbulb frowned, "that's a shame. Well, at least we met now right?" She smiled again.
"Heheh, yeah." Microphone started feeling a bit at ease around Lightbulb.
"So, did you plan on doing anything here besides dancing?" Lightbulb asked.
"Well, not really. I actually just came here to dance and maybe make some friends." Microphone replied, "But I'm mostly here to dance."
"Ah, I see," Lightbulb took a sip of her drink, "well, your moves are pretty good. Just don't close your eyes next time." She winked as she said the last part, making Microphone blush and frown. "Hey, I'm just teasin'!" She then said, noticing Microphone's facial expression.
Microphone relaxed a bit. She smiled. Lightbulb was so amazing and lighthearted. Why hadn't they met earlier?
Lightbulb and Mic eventually finished their drinks. They looked at each other for a moment. They both seemed to zone away, the world seemed to be a blur around then. Until Microphone noticed she and Lightbulb were staring quite intimately at each other.
"Whoa uh, sorry!" She said, backing away.
"Hey, it's fine!" Lightbulb reassured her, "Wanna go dancing together?"
Microphone felt herself get flustered at the question, but smiled.
"Sure!"
And so the two went, disposing of their soda cans and getting on the dance floor. They held each other as they danced. Lightbulb was surprisingly good at dancing, swinging Microphone around and even holding her like a person would do in a movie when they'd do a romantic dance with another person. It made Microphone blush and feel all fluttery inside. Lightbulb pulled her up, making her yelp and giggle as she held onto Lightbulb's arms. She felt happy and giddy around Lightbulb, feeling energetic like a child. She hadn't felt like this in forever and it felt good to feel happy and elated, like there was no single worry in the entire world. It was just her, Lightbulb, the music and the dance floor. And the fluttery feelings.
"How are you so good at this?" Microphone asked as the two stood still for a moment to catch their breaths.
"Oh, I learned some stuff from Nickel, a friend of mine." Lightbulb replied.
Microphone smiled.
"Well, that's good." She said.
"Wanna continue dancing?" Lightbulb asked, extending her hand.
Microphone nodded and grabbed Lightbulb's hand.
The party went by too fast and eventually it was late at night, at around 1 am. Microphone and Lightbulb had spent the entire night with each other. They were mostly dancing, but when they were tired, they'd just talk and drink DrFizz together. Unfortunately, the party had to end sometime. MePad announced he'd do the last round before the bar would close. Microphone and Lightbulb decided to get out of the bar to wait for Knife and Pickle and say goodbye to each other outside.
They sat down on the sidewalk outside. Microphone sighed. Lightbulb noticed.
"What's wrong?" She asked, "You sound kinda sad. Did I do something wrong?"
Microphone shook her head.
"No no, I'm fine. I had an amazing night." She reassured Lightbulb, "It's just... I haven't felt this good in a long time and I don't want to let go. I've been feeling a bit depressed lately but then you came around and... changed it! You made me feel so happy, Lightbulb. Dancing with you is one of the best things I've ever done. Ugh, what I'm saying is that... I'll miss you."
Microphone didn't know why she let her guts spill like that, but Lightbulb made her feel so at ease she didn't even want to care. Lightbulb wrapped an arm around her.
"Hey, ya don't have to miss me." She said.
Microphone looked at her, puzzled.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
Lightbulb pulled out a folded piece of paper and gave it to Microphone. Microphone unfolded it and read what was written there.
Heya, I like you and I wanna get to know you!!
Beneath the note were ten digits, which showed Lightbulb's number. Microphone blushed and smiled.
"Heheh, thanks!"
"I was thinking of just giving it to you but Paintbrush, another friend of mine, told me it's best to just approach you. So that's why I came to you to drink together." Lightbulb explained.
Microphone giggled.
"Well, I'm glad you listened to 'em." She said.
Lightbulb smiled at her.
"Me too."
Knife and Pickle eventually came outside, with Pickle being drunk.
"Someone spiked his drink," Knife explained when he saw Mic and Lightbulb look at them, puzzled, "I almost caused a bar fight trying to beat his ass for drugging Pickle."
He snickered, but then noticed Lightbulb and Mic blushing as they looked at each other.
"Ah, I see you've made a friend."
Microphone blushed and smiled.
"Yep. She gave me her number."
"Yeah," Lightbulb said with a smile, "I didn't know you had such a pretty half sis, Knife. She got dem moves too."
Microphone found herself blushing. Knife smiled.
"Well, I'm glad you got to know each other. But now we have to go." He said.
Microphone nodded.
"Welp, bye Lightbulb." She said.
"Bye Mic," Lightbulb replied, "it was nice talkin' and dancin' with ya."
The two hugged. Microphone wanted to get up, but Lightbulb pulled her back and quickly kissed her on the cheek before letting go.
"Almost forgot your kiss goodbye there." She said with a wink.
Microphone's face was fire red at this point. She quickly got up and walked to the car. Knife chuckled.
"I think she likes you too, Lightbulb." He said, before following Lightbulb to the car, dragging a drunk Pickle with him.
Lightbulb felt giddy with happiness. She made a friend who was possibly going to be her new girlfriend. When Paintbrush came out, she immediately approached them.
"Your plan worked, Painty! I talked to her and we had an amazing time!" She told Paintbrush.
Paintbrush smiled.
"Told you so," they said, "Did you give her your number?"
Lightbulb nodded.
"Good to hear."
That night, when Lightbulb and Mic were both home, they texted each other goodnight after talking some more. This was going to be an amazing relationship.
