Death bed
I wanna try to write about one character dying of a terminal illness and saying goodbye to their loved ones on a death bed to see if I can write that. If you are somehow in some way triggered by things like this (because you lost a loved one yourself for example) I suggest you to not read this. Now, for the story, they're humans. MePhone can't recover anyone and basically no one died on the show before except Bow and Dough (let's just pretend he died the same way Bow died). Enjoy! I guess...?
Lightbulb had been battling a pretty nasty illness for about four years now, and she had been doing pretty good, until she started getting sick again. The doctor had examined her and finally had the results. He looked at the files and then at Lightbulb and Microphone, who were sitting in front of him. Lightbulb looked at Mic, fear visible in her eyes. Microphone squeezed her hand comfortingly, though she also felt fear. The doctor cleared his throat.
"The results are back and... I have some bad news."
"What is it?" Lightbulb asked, trying not to sound too scared.
"Lightbulb, you only have two weeks to live." The doctor replied.
Lightbulb felt tears well up in her eyes, as well as Mic. They hugged each other. This was some shit to take in.
"I-I don't want to die, I don't want you and my friends to be sad." Lightbulb cried.
Hearing that made Mic only tear up more. Lightbulb cared more about her loved ones than herself sometimes, and it was too sweet.
~
The two weeks passed soon. Microphone didn't leave Lightbulb's side once (okay, she only left to get food for herself or something for Lightbulb). Even though Lightbulb was physically unable to get out of bed (as she was tired as hell thanks to her illness) she and Mic (and sometimes friends that came to visit) made the most of it. They talked together, watched movies together, reminisced on better times, that kind of stuff.
As the weeks went on, Lightbulb started getting more tired and slept more, but she did talk a lot with Mic. She sometimes slept and woke up again, telling Mic that she dreamed about flying high above the land, flying over the hospital, flying over the contestant grounds and laughing at MePhone who was eating cookies, stuff like that. Mic just listened with a somewhat sad smile.
Eventually, Lightbulb was moved to her death bed. She was going to say goodbye soon and her friends and loved ones were standing all around her. The people standing there were Paintbrush, Fan, Test Tube, Bot, Microphone (of course), Knife and MePhone4, which surprised everyone. Lightbulb couldn't help but smile at the people standing all around her. They loved her, they appreciated her, and they came to say goodbye to her. Lightbulb decided she would say something to everyone in the room, to acknowledge their presence and because they, in her opinion, each deserved a nice goodbye. She started with Paintbrush.
"Painty," she said, her voice hoarse, "I- I want you to take care of Baxter for me, okay? Tell him that- tell him that I went to sleep and that we'll see each other again someday."
Paintbrush, holding back tears, nodded.
"I will take care of him as if he were my son." They promised.
Lightbulb smiled and went to Test Tube, who was standing next to Paintbrush.
"Tube, I want you to take care of Fan. Make sure he- he doesn't write those cursed fanfics again." She said, half jokingly.
"Hey! My fanfics aren't that cursed." Fan said, in a playfully angry tone.
"Well uh, actually I write these cursed things too, it's funny." Test Tube confessed, making Lightbulb chuckle.
"Heh, just stay silly and bright for me, then." Lightbulb told Test Tube.
She turned to Fan.
"And Fan, keep writing those silly blogs, I liked them a lot."
Fan nodded shakily, small tears running down his face, before getting wiped away by him, using his hand to wipe his eyes.
Lightbulb turned to Bot. Bot looked back at her, their eyes teary.
"Bot, I'm sorry you have to see your aunty like this." Lightbulb said.
Bot laid their hand on Lightbulb's.
"Will you remember me?" They asked.
Lightbulb nodded.
"I will remember all of you. Keep being such a ray of sunshine, Bot."
Bot nodded, sniffling and stepping back.
"I will, for you." Their voice quivered.
Lightbulb turned to Knife.
"Knife, keep slayin' and gayin'." She told him, making him laugh.
"I will." He said.
"And take care of Mic for me."
Knife nodded. Microphone smiled slightly, knowing how much Lightbulb loved her and wanted her to be safe and okay. Lightbulb turned to MePhone4.
"MePhone, I don't know why you decided to show up, but- but I'm glad." She said to him.
"Well, I'm not going to just stay home when one of my contestants is dying." MePhone replied.
Lightbulb smiled.
"Well, if you ever have oatmeal cookies again, and people complain about it, think of me, because I liked your cookies, and your show. I liked competing and making friends, MePhone. You did good at hosting." She said in all honesty.
MePhone bit his lip to prevent himself from crying. He was not gonna cry here in front of everyone. Bot saw it and placed a hand on his arm. Lightbulb turned to Mic.
"And last but certainly not least, Microphone. I love you. Stay strong for me, okay? I know you- you might be sad, just like everyone else, but-" Lightbulb inhaled and exhaled to prevent herself from crying, but then started coughing. She coughed for a few seconds before speaking again. "Before I go, I want to say two things. The first thing is actually for everyone here, the second thing is for you."
Microphone nodded. Everyone listened too. Lightbulb looked around the room.
"I don't want you guys to be too sad over my death. You can cry, but don't let life be sad because I'm gone, because sad backwards is spelled das. And das not good."
Everyone laughed a little. Even when dying, Lightbulb managed to let out something silly, yet wise.
"Secondly, Mic, I want you to sing for me before I go." Lightbulb continued.
Microphone forced herself to not cry.
"What song do you want me to sing?" She asked.
"You are my sunshine." Lightbulb replied.
This song btw

Microphone nodded. She then started singing.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know, dear, how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away..."
As Mic kept singing, Lightbulb closed her eyes as she finally accepted her faith. The heart monitor next to her started beeping in a faster pattern before letting out a long beep. Lightbulb was dead.
The doctor unplugged the monitor and wrote down the time of death. Everyone just sat or stood there. Fan started crying quietly, Test Tube started sobbing into her hands, Bot let out soft sobs, Paintbrush just looked at Lightbulb as the tears streamed down their face silently, Knife just sat there, feeling numb, before hugging Microphone, who started crying while laying her head on Lightbulb's chest. MePhone tried to keep himself together, until he felt Bot hug him. He then finally let out his tears, crying into their shoulder. He didn't expect himself to cry. At least not this hard.
Meanwhile, Microphone had gotten up. Knife had let go of her to give her space. Mic had soaked the blankets of the bed quite a bit.
"I-I love you, Lighty." She said quietly.
Eventually they all went home. The funeral would be in a few weeks, to give them all time to process as far as they could.
~
Lightbulb's eyes fluttered open. The first thing she noticed was that she wasn't tired, nor in pain. She looked around her. She was in... a house? An old house. That's for sure. She suddenly realized she was floating. She looked down, only to be met by a ghost tail.
"Whoa- what's this?" She asked out loud.
She started flying around a bit. It was actually quite fun. She kind of recognized the house. Where did she recognize it from?
She got interrupted out of her thoughts by a voice.
"Wow Apple, nice drawing!"
"Heh, thanks Marshy!"
"Yeah, like, it's amazing. But it would be even better if you drew a chair."
"On it!"
"Could you also draw a mare?"
"SHUT UP!"
Lightbulb perked up at the voices. They sounded like her friends! Specifically, Marshmallow and Apple. And also Bow and Dough? She went to the source of the voices.
She ended up in a pinkish room (it didn't look as pink anymore due to how old it was) and there her friends were. Apple was drawing something on a piece of paper and so was Marshmallow. Bow and Dough were there too, arguing amongst one another. Marshmallow looked at them, annoyed, when she noticed Lightbulb.
"Guys, stop fighting!" She said.
"What?!" Bow and Dough said at the same time.
"Look!" Marshmallow pointed.
The others looked, only to see Lightbulb awkwardly standing- err, floating there. She smiled as soon as she saw the others.
"Oh, hi guys!" She beamed happily.
"What happened to you? How did you die?" Marshmallow asked.
"Did you fall off a cliff?" Bow asked.
"Did you get pushed off a cliff by someone with two personalities?" Dough asked.
"Did you de-spawn?" Apple asked.
"Hey, chillax! It's nothin' like that. You see, I was sick and I was so sick my body decided to go bye bye so here I am."
"Oh." The others looked at her.
"It was pretty sad. Everyone was sad and- I didn't want them to be sad! I miss them! I want them back! I want Mic back!" Lightbulb wanted to cry, but no tears came out. She supposed it was a side effect of being a ghost,
"Well you have us, right? We can just chill. Maybe MePhone will use the mansion again in another challenge and then you can meet them all again." Marshmallow said.
"Or you can scare them, it's pretty fun to do." Bow added.
Lightbulb couldn't help but chuckle.
"Well, I'm all in for fun." She said. "Wait, what do y'all do for fun here when there's no one to scare?"
"Oh we usually just chill," Dough replied, "or we play games."
"It's like Hotel OJ but less chaotic. Wait, what does chaotic mean again?"
Lightbulb chuckled at Apple's addition to what Dough said. She then smiled at the others.
"Alright, I guess I'll join you guys in the fun then."
I know, this doesn't have much Micbulb here, but it's still a bit of Micbulb so I decided to put it here. Man this was sad to write. I had to give Lightbulb some nice ending. Unfortunately she won't see Mic again for some time :(
Welp, stay tuned for more! And sorry if this made ya cry. Also sorry if it's a bit bad, this is my first time writing someone dying on a death bed. Man, I've been writing tons of new things this year!!
