Chapter 8
Virtual hugs for those who read this <3
“I love your scent so much!” Alec said, breaking up their non-stop kisses. “What shampoo did you buy? It’s way better than mine!”
They were laying together in Magnus’s bed with Alec’s face buried in the crook of his neck. They were tangled in a bundle of blankets and just casually and heavily making out. Magnus even didn’t let the blue eyed go and cook dinner so they could cuddle for a while, resulted in Jace having to handle it. The blond used up all the swear words in his vocabulary while making food.
Magnus smiled “I didn’t buy it. I brew it. It’s the family’s secret recipe!” he winked, receiving an eye-roll from the boy on top of him.
He then pulled Alec in for another kiss. The boy let out a grunt of surprise but happily went with it, his arms snaking around the other’s waist.
“I don’t believe you!” he smirked when they broke apart.
“You should. It’s a special blend of Indian sandalwood that my family started mixing back at the…eighteenth century. It was passed down from generations to generations and voila!” he gestured to himself.
Alec looked amazed “You made that?”
“Alexander, I may not be good at cooking and baking but I’m sure excellent at mixing and brewing chemicals. My mom’s family owned a quite enormous vineyard and a wine factory too. She herself was a chemist. Let’s say I inherited it all!”
The blue eyes seemed shocked.
“If you’re not too busy…can you…uhm…you know, brew me a bottle?” Alec smiled shyly at him, his eyes were shining with hope. Magnus didn’t reply. Instead, he flipped them around so Alec was pressed under his body. Before the boy can understand what was going on, Magnus had kissed him, with eagerness and passion. He sucked on Alec’s lower lip as if he were trying to devour every last bit of it. Alec let a very sinful moan slipped out of his mouth, his fingers lacing behind Magnus’s neck with an attempt to pull the older even closer. He returned the gestor by sliding his hands up under Alec’s shirt, caressing the soft skin there, earning himself another melodic moan from the boy under him.
“Hey guys-AAAAAHHHHH!!!!” Magnus jolted up, falling over the edge of the bed and ending up on the floor with a loud thud. Alec sat up immediately, his whole face flushing from embarrassment and...lust.
There was Jace, standing at the door, his hands covered his eyes.
“Don’t you know how to knock?” Magnus exclaimed furiously, climbing back on the bed.
“Don’t you know how to lock?”
“Girls, girls, calm down!” Alec chimed in, his face was still a bit red. Jace and Magnus both gave him dirty looks. “What’s wrong, Jace?”
“Mom and Dad are home!” Jace pointed behind him. “Go out there and save them from being choked to death by Izzy! Also, pull yourself together. You two look like you have just fucked. Oh wait, you did!”
Magnus rolled his eyes, fixing both of his and Alec’s clothes before following Jace to the living room.

“My boys!” Maryse smiled, hugging them “We miss you so much!”
“Yeah, she kept complaining about how the trip was so long and how she missed her children. Guess who was the one having to suffer that? Me!” Robert sighed dramatically. Maryse turned her head around, shooting daggers at her husband. His hands shot up in surrender.
“We miss you too, mom!” Alec laughed, placing a kiss on his mom’s cheek.
They broke apart. Maryse held his gaze a little longer on Magnus, her facial expression changed.
“Magnus...” she seemed struggling with words. Luckily, Robert finished the sentence for his wife “We need to talk to you. In private.”
The room fell into silence, it was like the temperature had been dropped. Despite his confusion, Magnus calmly walking after the couple into the kitchen.
“Magnus, it’s about your father.” Maryse sighed after Robert had closed the door. Magnus remained silent.
“We, Robert and I, met him in England and we had a talk...about you, Magnus.” Maryse took his hands in hers “He really loves you, you know, more than anything in the world!”
“If he really loves me like that,” Magnus chuckled dryly “then why did he leave me on my own when I was little?”
“You have to understand that Asmodeus went through a lot.” Robert frowned, putting a hand on his shoulder “Losing Esmerelda struck him hard...you...can’t blame him-”
“I do not blame him!” Magnus cut him off, his voice raising “I was hurt and angry. He isn’t the only one who feels vulnerable and lost. I lost a mother, too.”
He felt his eyes burning but refused to cry. He would not show any weakness.
“Magnus-”
“No, Maryse, he’s right.”
“Father!” Magnus breathed, surprised to see him. “What are you doing here?”
“Isn’t a father allowed to see his son?”
Magnus resisted the strong urge to roll his eyes when Asmodeus took a seat next to Robert.
“Magnus...” Asmodeus started but Maryse motioned him to stop.
“Guys, you can come in now!” she called out, receiving confusing looks from the men. A few seconds passed, then the door opened and Jace, Izzy and lastly, Alec shuffling into the room. They all had guilty expressions, then there was Jace, smiling smugly like he just won something.
“How did you know?” Izzy asked her mother as they sat down, Alec next to Magnus, intertwining their fingers under the table and giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. A small smile, almost unrecognizable, tugged at the corner of Magnus’s mouth.
“I am your mother. I raised you guys.” Maryse said with a matter-of-fact voice “You can talk now, Amo!”
“Magnus,” Asmodeus sighed “I know I am not the father you want to have. I was selfish, I just thought about myself, about my own misery without realizing that you were hurt too. You were just a nine-year-old boy for Lilith’s sake and...and...I let you suffer too much, on your own. I’m so sorry, Magnus!”
He looked at his son with glassy eyes. They both had those amber eyes that could steal any person’s breath away. Now seeing them sitting close to each other, Alec noticed how alike Magnus and his father were. The resemblance was startling. Silky black hair, except Magnus’s was spiked up while Asmodeus’s fell down gracefully to his jawline. Ah yes, they both had sharp jawlines that could kill, elegant Asian’s honey complexion with the same heart-shaped plump lips. Even the way their flaming eyes blazed when they looked at the others was alike.
Dammit, Alec, focus.
“What was she like?” Magnus said quietly, just above a whisper. “My memories about her are not much. Just broken pieces and images or simply a part of some song she sang for me.”
Asmodeus smiled sadly “Your mother was the most amazing person I’ve ever met. Even til now. She was beautiful, intelligent, sweet, optimistic, kind...the list goes on and on. I met her when-”
“Hold on a second, Amo,” Robert chuckled, his eyes glistening “If you are going to tell the kid how you met his mother, let me and Maryse do it. I don’t trust you. Heaven knows you will leave behind an embarrassing detail!”
Not letting the CEO protest, Maryse jumped in.
“As you guys know, Amo, me, Robert and Clary’s parents Jocelyn, Luke and Valentine all went to the same university. Idris University actually. Amo had this ridiculous interest in fashion but was absolutely horrible at Chemistry!”
“That was where your mother came in.” Robert laughed, patting the back of the guy who was now hiding his face in his hands.
“He was at the bottom of the class. And Esmerelda was the best in the university. Obviously, the professor had to ask her to tutor him.”
“Bet he loved it!” Jace smirked. But Robert snorted loudly.
“Not even the slightest!” he exclaimed, smacking Asmodeus on the head, ignoring the “Ow!” from him. “This idiot hated her. He called her names, like teacher’s pet or know-it-all, stuff like that...He said such awful things about her, how she was just showing off to made him look bad, destroying his reputation. We had to fight tooth and nail to drag him to the library. On the way he was constantly fake crying and complaining and kicking. Then...” Robert glanced at Maryse, both had a smile on their faces.
“He saw her, nose in some sort of scientific book at the corner of the library. He stormed to her, ready to give her a ‘lesson’. But before he could utter a word, she had looked up and given him a small smile and he stopped dead in his tracks.”
“Completely froze?” Izzy smirked. Maryse laughed.
“Like a deer under the light!”
“From that moment we knew,” Robert continued “There was going to be a wedding. After he came back from the library, all he talked about was Esmerelda, Esmerelda this, Esmerelda that....”
“I DID NO SUCH THING!” Asmodeus declared.
Robert cocked his eyebrow “Really? Are you sure? ‘Cause I remembered vividly that you said, and I quote, “Esmerelda is so beautiful and smart I think I’m gonna die!”, “What does she think of me, Robert? I NEED TO KNOW!”, “Do you think she thinks I’m an idiot?”, “Do you think she would go out with me?”, “OH MY LILITH SHE IS LOOKING MY WAY, ROBERT, CODE RED CODE RED!!!”
Everyone burst into peels of laughter at Robert’s imitation of the lovestruck guy. Except Asmodeus. He had this why-did-I-even-be-friend-with-you-from-the-start look on his face.
“Thanks Raziel she put up with him for so long!” Robert wiped a tear at the corner of his eye. “Once he-”
“Ok, enough for today!” Asmodeus prevented his best friend from blabbing about his past “Aren’t you guys sleepy already? Go to sleep! GO!” he shooed them.
“Can you spend some days here with us, uncle Amo?” Izzy clapped her hands. Asmodeus stopped, stared at her. “Wait...can I call you uncle Amo?".He smiled warmly “Of course, Isabelle! And yes, I can.”
“Look like he likes his son-in-law’s sister than his son-in-law!” snickered Jace, into Alec’s ear. The boy blushed, mumbled a “shut up”.
Everyone exited the kitchen one by one.
“Is there any room left for me?”Asmodeus wondered.
“Well, since your son took the guest room, you can’t have it anymore. You can sleep on the couch.”
“Seriously?”
“If you don’t like it, then the broom closet is always available!” Robert suggested.
Asmodeus shuddered “No thanks, I’ll take the couch.”
“That was I thought!” he left the room with a grin.
“Don’t wait for me, I’ll have a word with my father first!” Magnus whispered to Alec. He sent him a worried look but still nodded and headed out.
“Thank you,” Asmodeus said, hold his sad gaze on his son “For forgiving me.”
Magnus sighed heavily “What happens in the past, stays in the past. Besides, I couldn’t blame you. You were hurt, too.”
Asmodeus hesitantly stepped forward, unsure what to do. But Magnus had already pulled him into a hug.
“I miss our hug!” Magnus said “We haven’t done this for ten years.”
Asmodeus blinked back the tears.
“I love you, Magnus.”
“I love you too...dad.”

Alec was humming to himself while enjoying his coffee. He loved early morning, so quiet and peaceful. Suddenly a pair of arms snaked around his waist. He tensed up but relaxed as soon as he recognized the familiar scent.
“Good morning, beautiful.” Magnus’s cool minty breath tingled his skin.
“Good morning.” Alec smiled, leaned his body against Magnus.
“I like your sweatpants,” Magnus referred to Alec’s grey sweatpants. The blue eyed boy turned around, Magnus’s hands now slid down and rested on his lower back.
“Thanks, they were fifty percent off.”
“I’d like them a hundred percent off.” Magnus bat his eyes. Alec drew his eyebrows in confusion.
“The store can’t just sell free stuff!”
“No that’s not what I-”
“That’s a terrible way to run a business, Magnus. I thought your dad is a CEO.”
“You...” Magnus chuckled at his boyfriend’s words “You just don’t understand, do you?”
“Understand wh-Oh...ok...” Alec’s cheeks heated up at the realization.
“Come here you innocent cutie!” Magnus pulled him by his pants strings connecting their lips. The small kiss quickly turned into a battle for dominance as Magnus’s tongue rumbled inside Alec’s mouth. Magnus’s hands travelled down behind the younger’s thighs, lifted him on the counter. The abrupt action made them break the kiss. Magnus rested his forehead against Alec’s as they inhaled each other’s breath as if it was oxygen.
“You made delicious coffee!” Magnus smirked, licked his lips. Alec simply rolled his eyes and yanked Magnus in for another kiss.
Magnus attempted to pant out the words when they broke apart for air again “Why... are...our kisses...mostly...in this kitchen?”
Alec shrugged, pulled the older towards him, needy for another one. They were so lost in the other that they couldn’t hear the approaching footsteps.
“Now I know why you love the kitchen so much, Robert.”
The couple tore apart, turning around to meet Asmodeus and Robert, in running outfits.
“DAD!” they both cried out. Alec slid off the counter, almost landing on his butt if it wasn’t for Magnus steading him.
“I figured there was something off about you two.” Asmodeus showed off the signature Banes smirk “But I have to say I’m very disappointed that you didn’t tell me, Magnus. Did you know about this, Robert?”
They averted their eyes to the gaping man.
“Asmodeus!” he jumped up in delight, shaking his best friend violently “You know what this means? We are going to plan a wedding!”
Asmodeus gasped “Oh yeah!”
Both of them then fell into a very deep conversation about the wedding without giving a tiny idea of their sons standing there, torn between wanting to laugh or to protest.
