The car ride was silent. We had gotten into the SUVs that Lucien had waiting for us and we drove straight back to the house. Lucien and I were in one SUV while Erynn, Clayre and Jaycon were in the other. I laid my head against the cold, smooth glass of the car window and watched as we drove by the woodland. I would never forget what happened beyond those pine trees. I think none of us ever will. But something inside me, told me that this was just the beginning. Something worse, much more dangerous, was following right behind us. All we could do was wait.

I wanted to say something to Lucien but my throat couldn't seem to utter out any words so we sat there in a haunting silence until we reached the house.

As our SUV pulled up into the familiar gates of the house, I felt so relieved that I nearly cried. It felt like home.

Our driver who was Lucien's personal driver, Reynold, opened the door for me to get out.

As soon as I stepped outside, Bridgeth and Kaitleen immediately bounded out of the house and over to us.

"Lucien! You were supposed to arrive two nights ago, where have you been and why didn't you call us to let us know you were all okay?" Bridgeth cried and her face was creased into a worried expression.

"There was an issue. I was too busy to contact you," Lucien said in an even tone, not giving away the fact that something was wrong.

Before she could say anymore, the other SUV arrived through the gates and parked right beside ours.

Erynn stepped out of the car first, followed by Jaycon. He helped Clayre out and wrapped his arms around her waist supportively with slight possessiveness. Erynn looked pale like she was about to pass out anytime soon and Clayre looked up at the house, her expression just as amazed as mine when I first arrived.

"Jaycon, Erynn! You're back too and who is this fine young girl that Jaycon has in his arms?" Kaitleen smiled at Jaycon while Clayre looked away embarrassed as a small blush rose to her cheeks.

"This is my beautiful mate," Jaycon gave a loving smile to Clayre which only made her blush harder than ever.

I reminded myself that she didn't know what a mate was and didn't know what Jaycon was either but I knew Jaycon would tell her later after she overcomes the whole event.

"Wait. Where's Eefah?" Bridgeth looked around, confused as we all stayed silent, obviously dreading the question.

Lucien was the one who spoke.

"Bridgeth, Kaitleen. Come with me inside."

He led them into the house and we watched their backs as we all stood outside anticipating what would happen. He was going to tell them, that we knew.

After 5 excruciatingly silent minutes was when we heard the loud cries of Bridgeth and Kaitleen. Their sobs could be heard from all across the house as I listened on, remembering the horrible event that happened earlier. The wailing continued for minutes until Lucien finally stepped out of the house with a grave expression.

"We should get back into the house to get cleaned up and rest," Lucien said nonchalantly as we all walked to the house.

"Isa?" Clayre had walked over to me and Jaycon was only a few steps behind.

I smiled at her softly, "Hey Clayre, I'm sorry you had to experience that."

She shuddered a little and wrapped her arms around her thin, bruised arms.
"I'm just really confused and...scared. I have no idea what's going on and I really want to go home."

"I know, me too but we can't. Not any time soon. We just have to stay here for a little while and I promise I'll explain everything to you soon, okay?" I placed my hand on her shoulder.

She nodded and I smiled. She may be loud and bossy at times but the best thing about Clayre was that she was good at accepting things and not ask too many questions about it unlike me.

"For now, I want you to go with Jaycon. He's gonna take care of you while we're here, alright?"

"O-okay," She stuttered and blushed at the mention of Jaycon. I suppressed a grin. She was so adorable sometimes. For a person who inserted an innuendo into every sentence she says, she was just so innocent and shy when it came to dealing with guys in real life.

We walked through the kitchen and I saw Kaitleen and Bridgeth sitting at the table. They held each other's hand comfortingly from across the table while their other hands held a crumpled tissue that they were crying into. It made me sad to see two strong mother figures break down like a mother sheep that lost her newborn lamb.

Erynn headed straight for her bedroom and slammed the door shut behind.  I understood she wanted to be alone right now.  Jaycon and Clayre made their way to Jaycon's room where he said she could freshen up while he waited outside for her.  Thank goodness since I would've smacked him upside his head with a bat if he tried any moves on her yet. 

That only left myself and Lucien together.  I was reaching for the knob of my bedroom door when he suddenly placed his hand on top of mine to stop me.  The hairs on my arms raised and my breathing started getting faster so I pressed my lips together. 
I hated how he had that affect on me because it made me feel a completely different way. 

"You're supposed to be with me in my room, remember?"  He whispered as his hot breath fanned against my ear. 

Ah, shit.  How was I that dumb to forget? 

"Let's go."   He placed his hand on the small of my back and led me into his bedroom which was next to mine. 

My heart beat increased rapidly as I stepped into the unfamiliar territory of his bedroom.  Everything was spotless as usual.  Not a single ornament of piece of fabric of the rugs were out of place.  It was as immaculate as Mary herself.  

"You should go freshen up in the bathroom,"  Lucien said to me as I nodded nervously. 

I stepped inside the bathroom and shut the door, wanting to escape from Lucien's hot gaze that always seemed to get me heated up.

I swear he'll be the death of me - metaphorically and maybe literally.

I began to undress and got into the shower.  The warm droplets soothed my muscles and I felt relaxed for the first time in days.  I closed my eyes enjoying the feeling of both warmth and cleanliness. 

After a few minutes, I stepped out of the steamy shower and grabbed the towel off the wrack, wrapping it around me. 

And behold my stupid brain; I had forgotten to bring a change of clothes in with me. 

I was fucking losing it. 

I quietly cracked the bathroom door opened slightly and looked out.  Lucien was standing next to the window, looking out at the grey clouds that shrouded the sky.  The colour of the clouds matching the colour of his eyes. 

I carefully stepped out and tiptoed over to the closet.  Lucien was too absorbed in his thoughts to notice me sneaking quietly. 

A sudden bang of thunder sounded and I shrieked, holding onto the towel around me for dear life.

Deja vù.  Seriously?!  Somebody press the fast forward button for once instead of the rewind button. 

This was like back at Hotel Byzantium. 

Ugh, my life sucks so fucking much that it can't even move forward.  

Lucien spun around and his eyes darkened when he saw me holding onto the towel as my legs shook ever so slightly. 

"Lucien, I was lo-  arghhhh,"  I shrieked again and put my hands over my ears, squeezing my eyes shut tight.

The thunder got louder and a strike of lightning caused the sky to light up. 

Lucien walked over to me quickly and wrapped his arms around me securely. 

I was too scared to notice that he was actually being nice for once and I wrapped my arms around his neck as I laid my head on his hard chest with my eyes still shut.  

"It's okay,"  He whispered softly to me and began rubbing his hand up and down my back. 

I looked up at him and our gazes met.  He was being particularly kind and gentle with me.  This was a side to him that I never really got to know.  It was strange but nice.  I could get used to something like this. 

His gaze flickered down to my lips and I bit them like I always did when I was nervous but that seemed to make his eyes darken with lust even more.

Shit!  What do I do?!

"Lucien, I ju-"

His lips crashed onto mine, silencing the words I was going to say.  My eyes widened in shock at the sudden action but I responded and moved my lips against his.  He kissed me but it felt different.  It was lustful but... loving. 

I had completely forgotten about the thunder as Lucien continued to assault my lips with his. 

He then picked me up as I instinctively wrapped my legs around his waist and straddled him.  I didn't realise where he was carrying me until I felt the soft, cushiony feel of the mattress on my back as Lucien crawled on top of me. 

I moaned quietly against his lips and traced my finger along the chiseled structure of his abdomen. 

This made him kiss me even harder as he slipped his tongue into my mouth and we both battled recklessly for dominance. 

His hand rubbed up and down my thigh which made me stomach flip and I felt my core heat up to a thousand degrees. 

Goodness, this was the best feeling I've ever felt in my life.  Pure, sweet ecstasy. 

His hand teased its way up to my towel and he suddenly pulled away. 

I creased my eyebrows in confusion.

"If we do this, there's no going back,"  He said as he stared down at me with his stormy eyes that focused on my emerald ones.

I daringly smirked up at him.

"Who said I wanted to go back?"
