*****
I stood there gaping at Jaycon for what seemed like hours. I let my gaze flick back and forth between him and Clayre, trying to somehow imagine them as...mates. It was one hell of a surprise.

My best friend mated with a...werewolf? This keeps getting better and better - not.

Well, of course I'm happy for her but at the same time, I'm not. I didn't want her to be involved in all this danger. I wanted her to live a blithe life and not worry about any troubles living in this non-human world. It was too risky and was a precarious life to live.

The demon vampires now surrounded us and they let out a deep, rumbling growl.
They circled us and slowly prowled forward.

I was scared to say the least but I was also determined. I mean, how often did you get to participate in a zombie vampire apocalypse?

There was only one teeny weeny problem.

"Jaycon?" I whispered. Jaycon was right beside me and he was eyeing the demon vampires with a concentrating stare. His pupils had dilated and I knew he was trying not to shift otherwise they would automatically attack.

"Yeah?" He answered but didn't turn to face me.

"How exactly do you kill vampires?" I asked anxiously.

It was a simple question but I'm guessing that task wouldn't be so easy. And I sure as heck, didn't want to do I but I had to.

Killing blood suckers wasn't quite what I had on my itinerary in life but I guess there's always space for something new.

"Decapitation," Jaycon said monotonously as I raised an eyebrow.

"That's it? Just rip their heads off? No silver needed?" I questioned.

"Shhh," Jaycon hushed slowly, "they may be half dead but they can still hear you and to answer your question, no. You can't just use any blade to decapitate a vampire."

"Well then, I guess we'll need a silver blade?" I sighed but how in Hell were we supposed to get a silver blade in the middle of an attack?

Jaycon scoffed beside and made an unimpressed face. He turned his head to look over to me for the first time.

"Iz, don't believe everything you hear in story books. You can't decapitate a vampire with a silver blade, only a platinum blade can decapitate them," Jaycon informed me and I was surprised by this new information.

"Platinum? That's new. Why platinum?" I questioned, baffled.

"Silver is too common and is easily mined. Nearly every household can own silver goods and it can be melted down and shaped easily too. Platinum, however, is very rare and is very expensive to purchase and hard to get a hold of. So therefore, it's hard to buy and own a platinum blade and vampires find great amusement when humans try to kill them with a silver blade or stake. But they can be decapitated by other vampires and werewolves alone."

"Umm... okay, that's... helpful," I swallowed nervously.

Damn, things keep getting harder to control.

"Do you know, where it's possible to get one? A platinum blade I mean," I knew we couldn't get a hold of one right now but I was kind of curious.

"Yeah," Jaycon nodded, "there's always a platinum blade in every nightclub around the world."

"Wait, nightclubs? Why nightclubs?" I was beyond confused.

"Nightclubs are where vampires like to feed. Open during the night, building full of intoxicated people and no one sees a thing. Drunk people are easy victims but sometimes things get a little out of hand so there's always a platinum blade laying around somewhere."

"I see..."

I was losing hope. We certainly couldn't get a platinum blade anywhere right now and I was pretty sure the demon vampires were starting to get hungry from the way they were sliding their unnaturally long tongue across their even more unnatural sharp teeth.

I was not prepared to be a blood bag so I started to think, something people criticise me of not doing 90% of the time.

"There has to be some way out of this," I muttered to myself.

"Lucien, you have no choice," Dimitri's voice put a stop to my thinking and we all looked towards him and Lucien.

"You are surrounded, there's no escape. Just give me Isadora and the rest of you may leave alive."

Lie.

My mind picked it up as soon as he said it. There was no way he was going to let them leave here alive.

"There's a way," a small voice whispered beside me.

I swivelled around to the voice to see it was Eefah.

She looked up at me with her storm grey eyes, much like her brother's. Her usual bitch face was replaced by an innocent but sweet face, much like Erynn's. It was a new sight to see.

"What do you mean?" I asked her quietly.

She looked up at me and set her eyes on mine.

"It was my fault. All this was," She said, her voice filled with sadness and regret, "it's only right if I clean up the mess I made."

"No, Eefah."

As much as I disliked her in the first place, I knew I didn't have much against her. She was still so young and made mistakes like we all do in our liftime. She shut herself away from everyone else because she was different. She didn't know what to do. She was just scared and tried to put on a facade to conceal it. I couldn't hate this girl.

"Things happen for a reason, God has a plan for everyone, people sometimes take the wrong turns but we all end up somewhere whether it's the place we want to be or not," I consoled.

"You wanna know something about demon vampires?" She asked.

I wasn't expecting the topic change but nodded my head nonetheless.

Eefah continued, "When demon vampires get a scent of blood, they attack straightaway and is nearly impossible to get them away from it."

"Uhhh, okay?" I wasn't sure if she was just trying to educate me about them or warn me not to hurt myself and draw blood.

She turned around to face Dimitri and her face turned serious.

"Dimitri, we will give you the girl," She announced.

My eyes widened. What the fuck?!

"Eefah, you have no idea what you're talking about!" Lucien shouted and made his way over to where we were. The sea of demon vampires were about to attack him but Dimitri raised his hand for them to stop.

Lucien made his way over and glared at Eefah.

"What are you doing?" He hissed.

Before Eefah could reply, Dimitri called over.

"Are you going to give her to me or not?"

Eefah looked at Lucien one last time before slowly walking away from us and over to side of the forest so she was in between where Dimitri and Rosanna were standing and where we were standing.

From behind her back she brought out a small pocket knife.

Dimitri laughed loudly.
"Are you planning to take down my army with that?"

"No," Eefah said simply.

She turned around to look at us and my gaze met with hers.

"You know what to do and I know what I need to do," She said and gave me a smile for the first time.

Then her gaze turned sad.

She said one word that I didn't understand until after she did it.

"Run," She said and brought the pocket knife up to her neck and dragged it across, making blood run down her neck and out the corners of her mouth. Her grey eyes rolled back into her head and she collapsed to the floor in a heap.

Clayre cried out beside me, Erynn screamed and Lucien, Jaycon and I all froze.

I felt bile rise up to my throat and was ready to pass out.

True to her, word, the dozens of demon vampires diverted their attention to Eefah's blood soaked body and they immediately scrambled over to her with their teeth bared. A sickening sound of biting and scratching flash echoed and I didn't realise that tears were running down my face. I couldn't respond. I couldn't even think. I was too horrified about what just happened that everything stopped around me. Time slowed down.

Eefah, the goth girl I thought she was, killed herself... for me... for her family. The biggest sacrifice anyone could make. Giving up your life for other people's in order to give them an opportunity.

And that opportunity was what she had said before she slit her throat.

Run.

My senses began to come back slowly and I wiped away the tears furiously.

"W-we...have...t-to go," I managed to choke out.

I wanted to run to Eefah and save her but I knew she was far from saving. Only a human needs a platinum blade to kill a vampire but a vampire has enough strength to kill another vampire with its bare hands.

"Yeah," Jaycon said hoarsely beside me.

His red eyes were rimmed with tears.

I knew he felt like a brother to both Erynn and Eefah.

"Lucien we have to go," Jaycon placed a hand on Lucien's shoulders but he didn't budge.

Lucien was just as disheartened and shocked at what happened. What made it worse was she was his sister. His own blood.

"I need to save her," He said.

Jaycon shook his head.
"I'm sorry, but you can't. She's gone."

A small tear slipped out of Lucien's eye. He may be a tough, billionaire, and feared but he feels just like any other living creature.

Erynn was full on sobbing and she was hugging her arms around herself as though she already missed the presence of her sister.

And Clayre stood with her eyes wide open at what she had just witnessed. I couldn't blame her, it was an unexpected occurrence.

"Go after them!" Dimitri roared at the demon vampires but they paid no attention to him. They continued to bite into Eefah's flesh, shredding her apart. The sight was horrendous.

"Lucien, we have to go," I said frantically. It wasn't just because I wanted to get away from the demon vampires but also away from the awful sight.

I heard Lucien take a large, unsteady breath.

"We need to go," He said.

He turned and put an arm over Erynn as she continued to mourn over her sister's death.

"Lets get going before they come to their senses," Lucien muttered.

We all nodded in response and made our way through the thick trees that littered the woodland. Only silence was heard and only shadows were seen. Nobody spoke a word, nobody needed to. The silence spoke for itself.

Not only did Adam and Eve pay for their mistakes in the Garden of Eden. Eefah did too.
