I lay in bed thinking about the conversation I had with Anna.
Did she really mean what she said?
Did Lucien really kill Rosanna and was he capable of falling in love again?
All my questions were only answered by more questions.
"Ugh!" I groaned and rolled over on my side, pulling the sheets up to my chin.
I hated being in this confusing mess.
My conscience snickered at me.
Who landed in it in the first place?
It doesn't matter!
Everything that's happened, all the crap and abuse I've been through only made me feel useless. Like I was some rag doll that anyone can pick up and throw around. This is not the way I wanted things to be but fate has its way of screwing up people's lives.
I was slightly glad that Anna told me about the revelations of Lucien's personal matters because in a way, it made me feel closer to him.
The only disappointing thing was that Lucien never told me all of that himself.
I wanted to hear it from him personally.
I wanted to know more about him and why he's always invading my mind like a Star Wars attack.
Why he intrigued me, why he annoyed me and why he made me feel things I've never felt before.
Every step he took further away from me, another stepping stone appeared for me to get closer to him. There's something beneath that unreadable charade of his and I'm going to find out what it is.
A jolt of pain ceased my thoughts and I hissed.
"Damnit!" I cried.
Why, oh, why must you curse me God?!
These headaches started to happen more often and kept getting more painful.
There's something strange happening to me and I was starting to think that migraines were not to blame.
I rubbed my forehead with the back of my hand and closed my eyes.
The pain slowly began to fade away and I sighed loudly.
I should probably get some sleep since we were making our way back to the house tomorrow and I could ask Kaitleen and Bridgeth the pounding pain in my head.
Just as I was about to fall asleep, the sharp ring from the telephone beside my bed cut through the air.
I grimaced at the noise.
Who could be calling me this late of the night and how did they get the number?
I stretched my arm out and fumbled to get the phone out of its holder and pressed the receiver to my ear.
"Hello?" I said groggily into the phone.
"Isadora!" The voice shrieked and I could instantly tell that it was no other than Erynn.
"Erynn, do you mind not screaming into the phone? You might wake up the dead," I groaned and began to sit up in the bed.
"Well, I was kind of hoping you weren't," She directed the comment at me.
I rolled my eyes.
"Well, what's the matter? Why are you calling me at this time of the night?" I asked.
"I just wanted to tell you that your
flight is at 4am but you can take the 8am one that Lucien booked but Lucien and Jaycon will most likely be taking the 4am one. Dimitri has already gone back to his house," She said.
"And Lucien couldn't tell me that himself?" I questioned, raising my eyebrows but remembered that she couldn't see me.
"Well...um, he was stressed?" She tried to make up a pathetic excuse but it turned out more like a question.
Was Lucien ignoring me?
"Never mind, it doesn't matter. Thanks for telling me anyway, Erynn," I murmured.
"Okay, see you tomorrow, Isadora and sweet dreams!" She sang and I grunted.
"Alright, goodnight. No need to turn this into a musical," I said and she huffed on the other end of the line.
She hung up and I placed the phone back into its holder.
This was so depressing.
Why did my life suck so much?
Because of HIM.
And me, and vampires and werewolves and witches and Donald Trump.
Wait, why the hell did I just think about Donald Trump?!
Ugh, my head is a like a squashed pea right now.
Wait...
I have a phone...
Could that mean I could call mom and dad, maybe Clayre or the police?
I snatched the phone again and punched in the numbers for my house phone.
My heart rate quickened and I nervously bit my lip. This could be my lucky chance!
"Sorry, this call is not permitted to be made," A female computerised voice said.
"Shit!" I muttered angrily.
I guess the only call you could make was for room service.
Oh well, it was worth a try.
I laid back down and pulled the covers over my body, slowly closing my eyes.
I slowed my breaths and let a peaceful sleep take over me.
* * * * *
I yawned loudly and opened my drowsy eyes. I stretched myself out and moved the covers off of me.
What time was it?
I glanced over to look at a clock that hung on the wall.
5:30am it read.
It was still dark outside and uncountable stars dotted the sky making the room appear as if there was a disco ball hanging off the ceiling causing miniature spots of starlight to litter the place.
It was magical.
It was 5:30am which meant that Lucien and Jaycon had already gone and I was to catch the plane for the 8am flight back to the house.
I yawned again and decided I might as well get up since I'm already awake.
I padded over to the bathroom but froze before I could go another step.
I just heard a rustling noise.
I slowly spun around and scanned around the room.
It was dark and black shadows silhouetted the ornaments and furniture.
"Is anybody there?" I called to no one in particular.
Oh my God. Looks like I've gone a bit doddery in the head.
Maybe because of those electric shots going through my head all the time.
I switched on the light for the room and saw that everything was still. It was silent and the only sound was the light breeze coming from the balcony.
I shrugged and turned around, heading to the bathroom.
"Looks like she's pretty careless," A deep masculine voice resonated from behind me.
I immediately spun around and saw two men standing on my balcony. Their eyes gleamed a dirty gold colour in the moonlight and both of them stood at least 6ft 3" tall.
"What the fuck!" I cried and reached for the best defensive object nearest to me which happened to be a box of Kleenex tissues.
"Ohhh, someone has a potty mouth," The man on the left teased and I could see unnaturally long canines poking from under his top lip.
Vampire.
"Are you two creeps fucking crazy?!" I screamed and he raised an eyebrow.
"I'm crazy? You're the one with the Kleenex box," He pointed out.
"You two are the ones who suddenly appeared on my balcony!" I protested and I threw the Kleenex box at him. It hit him in the chest and bounced harmlessly off and onto the floor.
"Ethan..." The man on the right spoke up, "We are not here to make polite conversation."
"Then get the fuck out!" I shouted.
The man on the right looked at me and his eyes turned into black orbs.
"I would watch that mouth of yours," He said coolly and narrowed his obsidian eyes at me.
He turned towards the man on the left, who I came to know as Ethan.
"Get her. We need to have her there by this evening," The guy on the right ordered.
"My pleasure," Ethan grinned advancing towards me and cracked his knuckles.
I swallowed a large lump in my throat.
Is he going to kidnap me?
If he is then I might as well try to fight back.
"Don't come near me! Take another step and I'll break your nose!" I warned and tried to sound as confident as possible.
"Really? You look pretty weak to me," He smiled sadistically.
"I swear, look!" I rolled up the sleeves of my t-shirt and showed off my skinny arms.
"Ahhh, see that? These babies work hard hard at the gym," I said and flexed my nonexistent muscles for them to see.
"Oh, yeah! Look at all of these muscles! Who's the weakling now, huh?" I began making monkey poses with my lanky arms and they both blinked at me.
I accidently flexed my arms in an awkward position and a small strike of pain passed through them.
"Ouch!" I winced and then remembered I was supposed to be acting like Bruce Lee.
"It only hurt 'cause there's too much muscle to contain in these arms!" I quickly covered my slip and continued to strike monkey poses.
They continued to stare at me.
"Are you sure she's stable? Did we miss out on something?" Ethan dude said go the other guy.
"Of course I am!" I huffed.
"Ethan just take her and let's get out of here before anything happens," The other dude said.
Ethan turned back to me and a sinister smile crept back to his face.
"Okay Muhammad Ali, let's see how fast you can be knocked out," Ethan smirked while I paled.
He whizzed towards me like Edward Cullen and before I could recollect what was happening, a sharp blow of a rock hard fist travelled across my face and my vision instantaneously blurred as my mind buzzed.
Darkness came over me and I blacked out.
That was quick alright.
