The hotel was...mesmerising.

Like really, really impressive.

It was like The Hanging Gardens of Babylon and twerking chimpanzee kind of impressive.

The SUV stopped outside it and all I could do was stare at it in awe.

It looked old but modern and had amazing exotic plants and shrubs hanging off its balconies. It looked like it was carved out of sandstone and had stylish, glass french doors that opened out onto the balcony. It had to be at least 90 floors high. The cursive script on the sign read: Hotel Byzantine.

Impressive hotel, impressive name.

I stepped out of the SUV and a guy, who was probably a worker here, came up to us.

"Mr. Abelló! We were expecting you. Please, do come in and enjoy your stay here," the guy said in a sort of high-pitch tone with a heavy Greek accent.

I would know since I speak it myself.

The poor guy seemed so nervous and flustered more or less because of Lucien. He does have that effect on people.

Lucien simply nodded.

"Take our bags to our rooms. I have a meeting to attend," He said in a bland tone.

"Of course, sir," the guy bowed his head slightly and turned towards me.

"Madam, do you have any bags that you would like to take with you personally?"

"No, I'm fine, thank you," I smiled at him and he relaxed.

He probably thought I was going to bite his head off. Poor lad.

"Póso kairó échete miloún angliká?" I asked him.

How long have you been speaking English?

He grinned so wide that I felt like his face was going to rip apart.

Jaycon, Dimitri and Lucien just stared at me.

I ignored them and brought my attention to the guy.

"Móno gia éxi mínes", He replied.

Only for six months.

"It's not bad. You'll speak it perfectly in a few more months," I replied and he smiled kindly at me like he had just been given a thousand dollars.

"We need to get going," Lucien's sharp voice spoke up.

He marched off into the hotel like he was the king and I scowled as I shot imaginary fire balls into his back with my eyes.

So he thinks he's the boss, huh?

Pfft. Even the dirt off the bottom of my shoes was better than him.

The guy had gone off to get our bags and I was left alone with Dimitri. Jaycon had already followed Lucien into the hotel.

Thanks a lot, J.

Could my day get anymore awkward?

"You speak a different language?" Dimitri broke the silence.

I looked at him and nodded.

"Yeah, my grandparents were Greek and they taught me the language," I said, not mentioning that I spoke Italian too because I was better off keeping that to myself. It was useful for...I wouldn't say eavesdropping on Dimitri and Lucien's conversations but more like staying informed of what was going on.

"Ah, I see. Shall we go to our rooms? I don't think Lucien would be too pleased if we kept him waiting any longer." Dimitri
held the glass door opened for me and I thanked him and stepped in.

The inside was just as extravagant as the outside. The ceiling was carved out of sandstone and was intricately detailed with pictures of ancient people who looked like they were fighting in a war. The figures held swords and shields while others had a blade stuck through them. It was a creepy sight and I shuddered a little.

"Ah, yes. The Battle De Prophetia. A gruesome war that took place eight thousand years ago," Dimitri followed my gaze to the ceiling.

"The Battle what?" I asked confused.

"Battle De Prophetia," He repeated, "Come, we should get going to our rooms."

He led me into past the reception desk and winked at the brunette woman who worked behind it. Her eyes widened slowly and she blushed beet red.

He's definitely a player.

We walked to an elevator and he pressed his thumb on the up button. The doors opened almost immediately and we stepped inside. He pressed the button for floor 69 out of 98 floors.

Really? 69? This just gets better and better.

But, ugh! I hated elevators!
I needed something to distract me.

"Um, Dimitri?"

"Hmm?" He looked at me and I craned my neck to meet his eyes.

Why does he have to be so fucking tall?!

"Can you tell me about the Battle whatever it's called?"

"Battle De Prophetia?"

He bent his neck to face me and I nodded.

"How come I've never heard of this battle?" I said while he leaned against the elevator wall casually.

"Maybe you have. It's known more commonly to you humans by the name, 'The Battle of the Crusades'," He said.

"I've heard of that but wasn't that suppose to be a battle against religions or something?"

"You could say that. Battle De Prophetia translates to Battle of the Prophecy."

"What prophecy?" I asked curiously, "I never knew that there was a prophecy involved. Was that how it started? All I was taught was that it was fought for God."

"Yes and no. It started with a prophecy that one day there would be a child of a vampire and witch who would bear blood that had enough power for the world to fall into their hands and take over God's position in heaven and that all the creatures that walk on this earth would bow down to his or her's feet."

"They really believed that?" I asked, astounded.

"People's beliefs are what gives them purpose to live their lives," he said and I could hear the wisdom and even experience in his words.

The elevator doors finally opened on floor 69 and we made our way to the rooms. It was a long corridor and it reminded if those horror movies where there's a ghost at the end of the hallway. I shivered a little and stuck close to Dimitri. Babyish right? Better to be safe than sorry!

"Our rooms are here," Dimitri led us into what looked like a private part of the hotel. It was really fancy with a crystal chandelier and those Greek statues of gods with grape vines crawling around them. The air seemed to have gotten colder as well for some reason. It dropped at least 6 degrees.

"Wow, this is amazing!" I gasped, "This place suits Lucien. It's big, expensive and cold."

Dimitri chuckled beside me.

"That's because Lucien owns this hotel."

"Wait, what?! Ha, no wonder!" I cried. I should've guessed an extravagant place like this belonged to Lucien. Who else was rich enough to buy this? Donald Trump...

Nah, he'd rather spend money on his toupee.

There was four doors in this part of the hotel. Two on one side and two on another.

"You will be staying in that room", He pointed to the second door on the left.

"Who's staying in the one beside me?" I questioned.

"Lucien."

"No shit," I muttered.

Dimitri gave me a sympathetic smile.

"You will have time to freshen up before the meeting that starts in two hours," He said.

"Plenty of time to think about my miserable life," I sighed.

"Maybe but always remember that it could've been worse for you."

With that, he walked to his own room which was the first door on the left, opposite Lucien's.

I love how Dimitri comes with free life advice.
