Chapter 18: My New Hair Dye Formula
Dedicated to my friend Leah!
*****
I took the slowest shower in the history of the world.
The longer I took and went to dinner late, the less of Diamonde's face and attitude I had to bear.
I took exactly 1 hour and 12 minutes in the bathroom.
I soaked in the bath for 48 minutes until my fingers got all wrinkly and shrivelled up. And 24 minutes in the shower, washed my hair 3 times and scrubbed myself 4 times.
By the time I got out of the bathroom my skin was red and raw. I wouldn't need another shower again for the next 3 weeks. I stepped out in my bathrobe and went over to sit at the dressing table.
I ran my fingers through my knotty and wet hair.
My day was going so well until, BAM! Diamonde had to make my life as shit as possible.
I was truly stuck with the worst luck.
I sighed and let out a frustrated grumble.
I grabbed the hairdryer on the dressing table and switched it on.
Hot air blew out and I closed my eyes as the relaxation that came over me. I swirled the hairdryer over my head and dried my hair until the dampness was gone.
I switched it off and started to brush my hair until all the knots disappeared and it was nice and silky. I walked over to the closet and flung open its doors. I ran my gaze over the rack of clothes that hung immaculately in order.
Looks like one of the cleaners has OCD.
I traced my finger over the line of clothes, feeling the quality of the different materials.
I'm guessing these are all designer brands. This whole closet is probably worth more than a normal person's wage in 5 years.
I finally settled on a plain, scarlet dress with sleeves that came down just above the elbow and ended at mid-thigh. It was one of the less slutty dresses and was modest enough. It was simple but elegant and fitted my body lusciously.
Once again, I sat down at the dressing table and decided to apply a little bit of makeup.
Mascara, winged eyeliner and a light brown lip.
My hair fell to my backside like a black curtain and was as straight as a sheet of paper.
Now shoes.
Hmmm.
Heels?
Definitely not ideal if I need a quick getaway.
I looked over at the shoe rack beside the wardrobe.
Heels, heels, heels...Huh, they looked more like shoes with heels as high as the Eiffel Tower.
Please let there be a pair of decent shoes!
I wondered how girls walk for more than 2 hours in heels. I could walk in them for 2 minutes and then feel like I was being crucified on a cross with nails sticking out of my feet.
Bingo!
I spotted a pair of white Adidas runners.
I had hit the jackpot.
I snatched them off the rack and laced them up. I was grinning from ear to ear, glad that I'm not the next Jesus Christ to be crucified.
Who ever said that dresses had to be paired with heels?
Fuck that shit, runners are the new heels.
I straightened myself up and took a deep breath.
I'm ready for you Diamonde so bring this shit on.
I closed the bedroom door and turned around, hitting a rock hard body.
I stumbled on my feet and lost my balance. But before I could hit the ground, strong muscular arms encircled my waist. My face was pressed against the person's shirt and I could smell his masculine scent. Spicy cinnamon with a hint of vanilla.
Jeez, Isadora. Leave the sniffing for the dogs.
I pushed away from this person's chest slightly and my eyes drifted upwards to his face.
Lucien!
I tried to push myself away from him completely but he held me tighter and pushed me against him even more.
"What do you want?" I finally bit out.
He still held me in his arms and my heart started beating a little faster.
"I just wanted a little alone time with me and you," he said in my ear and it made me feel a bit fuzzy inside.
"Well, the last time that you and I had some 'alone time' didn't go very well," I snapped.
"I thought I told you to always address me as 'master'," he said.
Oh, sweet Mary and Joseph. Why was his voice such a damn turn on?!
"I'm sorry...master," I said it with as much venom as I could.
He pushed me into the door so my back was against it.
"You know, never mind calling me master. You're just going to make it sound bad anyway," he muttered.
"Glad you've finally made a decision I agree with," I said, feeling some relief.
"My decisions are not made for your agreements," he whispered, "it is made for what I think is necessary."
"Your necessities aren't exactly normal."
I was beginning to feel a little uncomfortable.
"Then again, you aren't exactly a normal girl, are you?"
His hands travelled down to my thighs and he pushed his leg in between mine.
I gasped at the sudden intrusion. I've never let a boy get this far to touching me.
Lucien placed his soft lips on my neck and kissed it with divine gentleness.
Wait. Is he going to bite me again?
He opened his mouth against my neck and I panicked.
Oh crap. He's going to bite me again!
Just when I had expected to feel his sharp incisors, I felt his tongue instead.
He skillfully caressed my neck with his tongue and left a wet trail along the side of my neck.
His hands were clamped on my thighs and he began tracing delicate circles on them with his thumbs.
The feeling was breathtaking. Nothing like I've experienced before.
I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around his neck, running my hands through his thick hair.
His lips came up just underneath my jawline and he began to suck softly.
I couldn't take it anymore.
I let out a small moan and arched my back.
Oh, Lord have mercy.
This was bad but it felt so good.
His hands went up further along my thighs, pushing up my dress while he ran his fingers along the bare skin of my legs.
"Lucien," I moaned, trying to push his hands off my thighs, "We need to stop."
He pushed his lips away from my jawline and stepped away.
"Very well. Let's go to dinner now. The others are waiting," He said and walked off down the corridor.
I tugged and smoothed out my dress before following him to the dining room.
* * * * *
I walked into the dining room and saw that Erynn, Jaycon, Dimitri and Diamonde were all there already. Except for Eefah, of course. She was probably up in her room doing weird gothy stuff that gives people the creeps.
"Goodness, look what the cat dragged in! I thought theses two were never going to show up," Jaycon grinned as Lucien and I took our seats.
"That tells us that your predictions are always wrong," Erynn joked.
"Better late than never," I answered and gave him my evil eye.
"Lucien, baby! Why did you take so long? I was so worried about you!" Diamonde whined in her childish voice that sickened me.
She sat next to him and squished herself into him.
She placed her hand on his leg and traced his jawline with her wicked looking fingernail.
"Diamonde," Lucien said, annoyed, "We're at the dinner table."
"Yes, my dear Diamonde. We're at the dinner table so let's keep it PG," I mocked, imitating a posh voice.
Diamonde narrowed her eyes and scowled at me.
"Did you hear that, Lucey-Boo? Aren't you going to punish her for talking to me like that?" Diamonde looked at Lucien with an exaggerated pout.
I was taking a sip of water and nearly choked.
Lucey-Boo?!
My God. This woman's mental health was worse than I feared.
I heard Jaycon, Dimitri and Erynn snort but they tried to disguise it with a cough.
Diamonde shot them all a hard look.
"Dinner is served!" I heard as I saw Kaitleen and Bridgeth carrying in some trays.
They looked sort of heavy so I instinctively got up from my chair to help them out.
I took a tray from Kaitleen and slowly walked over to the table.
Kaitleen and Bridgeth both wore a expression of shock as I did this.
"Isadora, what are you doing?" Erynn asked, surprised.
"What does it look like?" I said, trying to keep the tray from tipping over, "I'm helping them."
They all looked at me like I've grown two heads. What was wrong with helping someone? Oh, right. These people were the upper class and had 'servants' to do all their work.
"I think the job suits her," I heard Diamonde whisper quite loudly to Lucien, "She was born a natural at being a useless servant. You should give her the job."
I clenched my fists.
Don't let her bitching put you off.
Kaitleen set the bowls of tomato soup in front of everyone.
I thought that vampires didn't eat human food but I'm guessing that it was mixed with blood.
Lucien had his jaw set tight.
"Diamonde..." He said, warningly.
"Oh come on, Lucien. Look at her. She's hardly worth anything, I bet that's why her parents gave her up so easily," Diamonde protested.
That was it.
I came up right behind Diamonde and tipped over the tray of bowls filled with steaming hot soup.
The thick, red liquid rained down on her and soaked her hair.
She screamed and bolted up from her chair, trying to wipe the soup off her with her hands.
Erynn, Jaycon, Dimitri, Kaitleen and Bridgeth stared wide-eyed at what just happened with their mouths agape.
Hope you learn not to mess with me!
It was nice of Diamonde to volunteer to try out my new hair dye formula.
