Dedicated to my friend Ailisha!

I slowly lifted my heavy eyelids and squinted at the brightness. I blinked a few times before I finally adjusted my sore eyes to see where I was.
I looked up and saw a ceiling.
Hint number 1: I'm in a room.
Okay, so far so good.
I shifted in my position and felt the silky smoothness of linen sheets.
Hint number 2: I was lying in a bed.
Right, I figured I was in a bedroom.
I turned my head to he left and a sharp pain struck across my left cheek.
I winced and groaned at the stinging pain. It felt as if I just had jaw surgery or something.
I took my hand out from underneath the bed sheets and placed it on my face.
I could feel some sort of cloth covering my left cheek.
Then the memories hit me.
Lucien had unintentionally punched me in the cheek while I stood protectively in front of Jaycon's wolf.
I sighed.
This was probably the third time I've been knocked out.
Good luck is something that comes to me naturally - note the sarcasm.
I have never felt so useless in my life. While normal people my age are working their asses off at school, I'm just lying in bed and doing nothing all day.
That also reminds me that I have to get fitter. I could barely walk up the stairs without feeling like I've just climbed Mt. Everest.
I'm not fat.
I'm actually the complete opposite. For a person who eats more than two thousand calories a day, I'm pretty skinny but not anorexic skinny.
I grudgingly lifted the downy duvet off of my body and urged myself to get up.
I slowly made my way towards the bathroom, the carpet tickling the soles of my feet.
I switched on the light and went up to the sink. I gazed at myself in the mirror. I looked so tired. My usual sea green eyes had lost its sparkle and was just dull. There were no dark circles or bags under my eyes, thank God! Still I looked worn out.
I took the cloth off my cheek and saw a fading bruise. It was a pale bluish colour. It must have been pretty ugly when it was new.
I looked at it in disgust and exited the bathroom.
I didn't want to stay cooped up in the bedroom any longer so I left the bedroom altogether.
I decided to make my way into the kitchen and try to find something to eat since my stomach hasn't ceased its ape-like grunts in protest.
I walked into the kitchen to find Kaitleen and Bridgeth talking in hushed tones. I wondering what they were saying. Usually they're not this secretive. Something's up.
I cleared my throat.
They both stopped talking and spun around to face me.
"Oh, you're up already, honey!" Kaitleen cried and put on a big smile.
"Up and hungry," I smiled.
"Of course you are! Silly me, I'll make you something to eat. Have a seat, honey!" Kaitleen quickly got to work and began collecting ingredients from the fridge.
"How are you feeling, dearie?" Bridgeth walked over to me as I took a seat at the kitchen table.
"My face is a bit sore but I'll be alright," I said.
"You shouldn't have jumped into their fight. You are only a vulnerable human between two of the most dangerous beings on Earth," She pursed her lips.
"Yeah, it was stupid, I know. But I couldn't let them continue like that any further," I sighed, remembering the fight.
"I have known Lucien and Jaycon since they were babies. They wouldn't go as far as killing eachother," She replied.
"Hold up!", I said raising my eyebrows, "did you say 'since they were babies'?" I asked completely baffled.
Bridgeth let out a light chuckle.
"Oh, yes. Lucien was born not bitten. He is a royal blood. Royal bloods have the ability to bear a child unlike bitten vampires," She explained.
"I don't exactly get you," I said.
"I'm guessing you've heard of the god, Vazol from the Blood Moon party?" She questioned.
I grimaced from the terrible memories of that night. As if on cue, the scars on my back began to sting slightly. I haven't checked on them all day. I didn't like to anyway. Big, ugly scars that ran across my back and an imperfection that I will always have.
I nodded my head.
"Well, the god, Vazol was said to have put some of his blood into, what we call, the Children of the Night. They came to be known as vampires, werewolves and witches. Though they were changed, they could still carry a child. The ones that have been bitten by a werewolf or vampire cannot bear a child as they were never granted the 'change' from Vazol himself so they are more or less cursed for eternity."
"I see." I began to understand it now.
"So both Lucien and Jaycon are royal blood?"
"Yes, dearie," She smiled.
You learn something new everyday.
"Breakfast!" Kaitleen announced and came over to me with a large plate. She placed it in front of me and the aroma made my animalistic side want to shove it all into my mouth all at once.
It was pancakes with candied streaks of bacon and scrambled eggs, my favourite!
"Thank you so much!" I cried and dug into the awesome breakfast.
Kaitleen and Bridgeth just laughed.
Halfway through the breakfast I asked the question that's been bugging me.
"Where's Jaycon and Lucien?" I asked.
"They've gone to Lucien's private airport to pick up a...business partner," Kaitleen said and casually took took a sip of her camomile tea.
Business partner? Well, Lucien was a business man.
I was sort of bummed that I didn't get to see Jaycon and Lucien. I wanted to know how they were doing. Lucien didn't apologise (no surprise there). Jaycon didn't even leave a thank you note.
So much for my heroic deed.
"When will they be back?" I asked, finishing off the rest of the breakfast.
"He should be home soon." Just as she finished the sentence, a black BMW pulled into the driveway.
Lucien's car.
Reynold the driver got out and opened the back door.
Lucien got out first. He was in an expensive Armani suit. Jaycon got out of the passenger side and he was dressed in simple slacks and a black shirt.
Then out came the 'business partner'.
He was tall. That's the first thing I noticed. I'd say as tall as Lucien and Jaycon.
He had a slight stubble and piercing green eyes. His hair was neatly cut and combed back. He looked like a model but he looked older than Lucien and Jaycon. Maybe late twenties. No older than thirty anyway.
He also wore an expensive black suit.
The three made their way to the patio door.
Oh, shit. Why couldn't they just use the front door?
I was only dressed in pyjama shorts and a tank top. Thank goodness my hair was straight and cooperative or else I would've looked like a rat's nest.
"You will need to sign the contract within 30 days." I heard as the Three Musketeers stepped into the kitchen.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. Should I get up and leave them alone to discuss their business?
Fuck that. I'm staying.
"Who is this beautiful woman, Lucien?" I heard the stranger say.
My head turned towards them.
"This is my new pet," Lucien said not looking me.
Again with that 'pet' shit.
Jaycon just stood there with his arms crossed with a placid expression.
They're both acting as though nothing has happened.
I got up from my chair.
I stuck out my hand.
"My name is Isadora not pet," I stated and gave him a simple smile.
Lucien shot me a warning look but I just shrugged it off.
The stranger just chuckled.
Up close he was even more handsome. When he laughed, two small dimples appeared on his cheeks.
"Well, hello Isadora. I'm Dimitri Augustian," He shook my hand.
I frowned slightly.
I've heard that name before.
