Chapter 5
"The jocks have always been known to pick on us. It's just what they do." Brendon was walking home with Tyler because he found out that his house wasn't that far from his. "What about that Josh guy? Does he pick on you guys too?" Brendon shrugged. "He never participated, but he's never really said anything either. He's kind of just..." Brendon started twiddling his thumbs, trying to think of the word. "A bystander?" Brendon pointed at Tyler and smiled. "Yes! So the fact that he actually said something today is pretty odd in my opinion." Tyler nodded. He stopped in front of his house and waved at Brendon as he kept walking down the street. Maybe I'll text him later.
Tyler searched his whole room for his math book. He needed to go over the lesson again because he was a little confused about some of it. He looked through his backpack and still couldn't find it. He then remembered that he left it in the performance room by accident. He texted Brendon and he said that he always leaves a key in one of the plants outside. Since he works in the office, he has access to stuff like that. Tyler explained the situation to his mom and started walking to the school.
He took the key that Brendon had left and unlocked the door. The school was so empty. It almost looked completely different than it usually does, considering most of the lights were out. He started walking down the hallways, hearing his footsteps echo behind him. As he got closer to the performance room, he heard banging. It took him a minute to realize it was someone drumming. It's probably Ryan. Or Andy. Or Otto. Or Spencer. He walked into the room, expecting to see one of his friends, but he didn't. The red haired boy, Joshua, dropped his drum sticks and stood up, surprised.
"W-why are you here?"
