My Biggest Kpop Fan

As the last notes from the song faded from the piano, all the stress of the last few weeks touring evaporated with it.

I sighed contentedly. Now for a -

Clap! Clap! Clap!

I whipped around on the bench but the room was empty. The hair all over my body stood on end.

My phone was across the room charging. No! Why didn't I have a personal alarm on me?

"Who's there?" I called. Was it a crazed kpop fan who somehow broke in?

Slowly rising so the bench didn't squeak, I began crossing the room of my phone - but the phone floated off the table!

I made a low sound in my throat. I'd never admit it, but I always believed in ghosts and spirits.

I swallowed trying to make my mouth wet. "Who are you?"

Slowly my grandmother materialised scanning through my phone.

She held out the screen to me showing a picture of me and a fan taken yesterday. "You're fans really love you."

I wasn't sure the protocol for hosting your dead grandmother. "Would you like tea?" I felt so stupid.

"I want something, but it isn't tea. Thank you for asking, though."

She gazed around admiring my apartment. "You've really made it. Did anyone tell you I was a singer? My parents wouldn't allow it, though. Forced me to work in the family business then married me off where I had to work in his family business. Even after I had your mother and the others, I wasn't allowed to stop working, working, working. They gave me the day off when I went into labour, but that was all."

As she spoke she circled the apartment, and me, slowly getting closer.

"What I really wanted to do was SING!"

With the last word, she thrust her ghostly fingers into my head.

"Grandma!" I screamed.

Her loud shrill laughter sounded through my head. I fought, but my grandmother pushed into my mind, forcing me out of my body.

Weightless I floated above my beloved piano.

Grandma turned to look at me. "Don't worry, my boy, I'll take your career places you never dreamed!"
