Backstory: When Attie was a child, she was raped by her father. When word of it circulated to her Mother, she was furious because she thought Attie was trying to take her husband's love away from her. So in retaliation, Attie's mother began to abuse her, physically and emotionally. When Attie was 16, instead of having a birthday party, she was running away from home with a severe case of PTSD.
