Chapter 8- Love is Not Over

When I told Lily to treat me to a free tour to a museum, I never thought that she would bring me to HYBE Insight on her birthday.

"Since you just came back, it would be a great chance to see the new museum of HYBE!!"

I did not expect BTS' fame would lead them to build their own museum. When we entered the building, Lily chose RM as our artist docent. My mind was unprepared for the great things I was about to discover.

Honestly, I enjoyed roaming around the museum with her, getting more interested in Jungkook's past while being a singer. I could not understand what I felt. I felt more regrets. I wished I could turn back time. If only I had listened more about BTS and Jungkook, I would have left New York right away.

"JK, I wish I was there for you when you debuted. I will surely be your biggest fan and support you forever."

Learning about the band's history was a start for me. I came to understand their way of music. Their campaigns were different than other artists. How great of them to inspire many fans and encourage many people to love themselves through their music.

The most memorable thing was when we went into a room and watched each member's story being played on the wall. When JK's video popped out, I couldn't help making a proud smile. I guess this place was the perfect one to learn about the events that happened to him when I disappeared into his life.

"His baby fat disappeared," I whispered to myself. "He used to have a big nose."

"You're saying something?" Lily turned her head to me, who was watching a video of BTS dancing from the other side.

I just shook my head. "Just talking to myself."

"Look!" As soon as the video ended, Lily gripped my arm and pointed at another wall.

A wall of trophies suddenly showed up, towering over us. The light behind every award displayed in each compartment made them shine brighter in glory.

"Whoa! Are these all of their awards??" My mouth dropped with awe. "That's a lot!"

I just stood there, admiring and trying to count their awards while Lily took endless shots of them. "They're tremendous. BTS is really the biggest boyband in history!"

After a few hours, we were already out of the building and spent the rest of the day walking in the park and eating foods that we craved. We spent long minutes inside a coffee shop, only to talk about arts and all, and when the clock struck 6:45 in the evening, we walked out and waited on the street, just the right time for Min-ho to pull over his car in front of us.

Min-ho was just from work but promised to spend the night with us. I asked Lily to let him join us at her house which she willingly agreed, saying that she could not be selfish on her birthday.

We rode Min-ho's car straight to Lily's house and had a simple party. We sang happy birthday for her, sliced her cake, and got drank while watching her favorite football game on TV, not noticing that we were wearing sports attires while holding pompoms and plastic trumpets that added to the fun and wildness of the small party. I was surprised why I enjoyed cheering her favorite team with them, cause it was my first time to do this with them. After ten years of a boring life, it was great to experience this feeling again. Cheering, squealing, feeling the thrill, and not caring about your sleeping neighbors.

^^. . . ^^

"I'm really happy" -hiccup- "that you are here, guys!" Lily wobbly stood up and was already under the influence of alcohol. "For my birthday, my wish is to become an international photographer soon! I told you before, right?" She giggled before stepping on the trumpet on the floor, screaming a loud and long honk.

"You haven't changed your birthday wish since I met you!" I sneered. "I hope that you will achieve your dream fast so you could stop saying the same thing."

"Cheers to you! Our future international photographer!" Min-ho lifted his glass in a swift, staining the sofa with droplets of soju from his drink. He too was starting to get drunk while his cheeks were red and swollen from drinking.

"Geonbae!" They both said while I joined them. The sound of our glasses touching made the mood livelier.

"Ahh... I had fun today," Lily sighed with satisfaction as she dropped her body on the couch.

"Me too," Min-ho chuckled, his voice turning into a drunkard's.

Lily suddenly stood up and twirled her body around. "Karaoke time!"

"Lily- yah-"

"Woohoo !!" Min Ho stood up and joined her too.

"Hey! Both of you, be careful! Don't wake our neighbors with your out-of-tune songs!"

"Light it up like dynamite !! Hoh!!"

I was eating the last bag of popcorn while watching at them, amused. I took my phone and recorded it. "When they both get sober, they won't believe what they did after watching this." I grinned.

They continued to dance and sing until they passed out. It was already past midnight. I was the only one left awake. I only had a few drinks just to make sure that one of us could watch over us. Lily was already knocked out on the sofa while Min Ho was sprawled on the floor, snoring. I was seated at the end of the couch while drinking the last bottle of soju. It made me feel lightheaded, but I pushed myself to it, telling myself that this could my only opportunity that I could drink before we get busy again.

Unable to sleep, I tried to kill time while watching the TV until I got bored. I searched for the remote before changing the channel. First was a Korean drama portraying a mother and daughter pulling each other's hair. "Ugh, very Asian."

It only took me seconds to change the channel, displaying a cooking show. I got bored, so I changed the TV channel again. As if it was a coincidence, it was a replay of BTS guesting on a talk show.

"BTS were busy with their comeback and armys were wondering what you had been up to. Can you tell us what you have been doing recently aside from making music?" The host on the TV asked each member.

"Ahm, for me, I've been going to the gym with RM-hyung," Jimin answered with a sweet smile, gaining a surprising reaction from the audience.

"I love to eat lots of food these days," RM confessed.

"H-how about the others?" The host asked, trying to encourage the rest to share their own.

"Since we were busy on our comeback, I really wasn't into anything these previous days. I had no time for other things," Taehyung honestly answered.

"Yeah, most of us were stuck in our studios just to finish our own songs and keep up with the deadline," J-hope added.

"I see," the host replied. "You mentioned in some interviews that you participated in writing your solo songs for the album, but I'm not going into it one by one. I want to ask Jungkook's solo song called Love is Not Over pt. 2, which many armys are talking about."

Jungkook nodded while the members darted their eyes on their maknae.

" Armys are asking if the song is related to the first part of Love is Not Over because the lyrics seemed to be a continuation of the first. Is this true?"

I saw him scratch his jaw while talking. "Hmm yeah... as you all know, Love is Not Over is a story of a boy who was left by his young lover, and his life was full of misery without her. As a continuation, Love is Not Over pt. 2 tells the story him who already grew up, met new friends, experienced a lot, but never forgot about his young love because she became a big part of his life."

"Ow... you said five years ago during the release of the first song that it was dedicated to your childhood best friend. We are curious if these two songs, the Love is Not Over pt. 1 and 2 are related to your friendship story."

Jungkook chuckled shyly, making my chest tighten as I watched him speak. "Honestly, yes. When we were told to write an individual song, I couldn't think of a good topic to write. But then something about my best friend reminded me about her, so I said to myself, 'why don't I try writing about my past friendship again?'"

Instead of drinking from my cup, I put the bottle directly in my mouth and took a gulp. "Love is Not Over..." I realized that he wrote that song in our treehouse. "It wasn't a poem. It was... a song dedicated to someone?" I tried to recall the lyrics I read.

"It seems that the long night is... what was next?... It seems like this time is blurring with you..." I mumbled. "Why do you go away... why do you go so far... wait..." I tilted my head in confusion. "Is this our story?"

I slowly looked at him on the TV with astonishment. "Am I the best friend you are talking about?"
