Chapter Seven: Goodbye Again
Darrin Thomas
Three seconds on the clock. Sweat poured down my face as I threw the ball from the three point line. The ball landed in the basket as one second hit the clock.
The crowd went crazy. The cheerleaders swarmed around me and my teammates. I smiled and looked into the crowd.
There she was smiling at me. I watched as she came down the bleaches and jumped to hug me.
"Ew your all sweaty." Tanisha giggled before kissing me on my lips.
"I still won though." I said.
"You did great baby."
Just as I was grabbing my bag I saw Victoria. She was talking to Aaron, a boy on the football team. She moved on.
"Ayo you good?" Raymond said noticing the frown on my face.
"Yeah. I just saw someone I used to know." I said hoping he would leave me alone.
"Nigga, a year went by and you act like that shit happened twenty years ago. Go get ya life." Reggie said cutting our conversation.
I watched as she smiled at Aaron as they flirted. He seemed highly interested in her as well.
Once Aaron gave her a kiss my chest tightened. The feeling of jealousy and anger filled my chest. Once he left her I walked up to her.
"Hey Vicky." I said flashing her the smile I knew she couldn't resist.
"Bye Darrin." She said and walked away.
My smile faltered as she walked away. Tanisha came up to me. I internally groaned.
"Baby come on." She said flashing me her smile and I totally forgot about Vicky.

"You know you fucked up right." Reggie told me as he rolled up some weed.
"Shut up."
"No, he right. How you gonna let Aaron take ya girl like that." Raymond added texting Janay.
I rolled my eyes. My parents weren't home yet. It was just me and my boys chillin.
"I already have a girlfriend and it's not Victoria."
"Speaking of Victoria, there she go." Raymond pointed across the street.
She opened her front door stepping outside. She wore a camouflage hoodie and black jeans. She didn't notice us at all.
"Go talk to her." Reggie nudged me.
"Nigga no. How about you go talk to her." I said pushing him.
"Fine."
I watched as he got up and walked across the street to her house. She smiled at him and gave him a side hug. They talked for a minute before he walked back over here.
"See it wasn't that hard." He said and I shook my head.
"Oh shit. Is that Aaron pulling up." Raymond said and I looked up.
Aaron's black jeep pulled up in front of Victoria's house. She got into his car and they drove off.
"Damn man. They really do go out."
It was rumors going around that Victoria was going out with a Junior even though it's not a big deal. She was just a year younger than a seventeen year old. I had a bad feeling about Aaron though.

"You're never here!" My mom yelled at my father.
"You don't work! So I have to! How am I supposed to provide for this family! Damn all you do is bitch!" He yelled at her.
Soon I heard a slap. I got up from my bed putting on a pair of sweatpants. They were across the hall and I could hear them through the thick walls.
I opened my window and walked across the lawn. I went to the only person I know would comfort me. I knocked three times on her window.
She looked out the window with a confused face. Once she saw me her face lit up. She unlocked the window but didn't let me in.
"Look Darrin I don't know why you came over here. You can't just speak to me for a year and then disappear from another. I don't want to be friends anymore. Delete my number. Ever since eight grade you've been different. Talk to me when I get the old Darrin back. Goodbye Darrin." With that she closed her window.
I sat outside feeling like shit. My parents are fighting and I just lost Victoria once again. I took out my phone and called Tanisha.
The phone rang about three times before she picked up.
"Hello?" She answered the phone breathing heavy.
"I just need someone to talk to." I spoke trying not to break down.
"I-I can't talk to you right now...shit." I hung up the phone on her.
I already knew she was with another nigga. They was probably having sex. After I hung up the phone I cried. The last time I cried like this was when my father was arrested. I messed up.
Vicky Parrish
I watched as Darrin cried his heart out. Tears poured down my face as I watched him hurting. I did most of this.
But he messed up and he needs to learn. He can't just use me whenever he wants me. I wasn't that type of person. But I wanted to go outside and be there for my best friend. Well ex bestfriend.
I closed the curtain and turned my lamp off. School was tomorrow and I needed to go to sleep. Beyonce' song All Night played through the my headphones.
The song expressed my feeling for Darrin. I felt this way for our friendship we used to have. Our bond was so unbreakable until Tanisha swooped in.This is all her fault. I guess I'll have to wait until Darrin realized what he gave up.
I used to imagine what Darrin and I could have been if Tanisha wasn't in the picture. I should have told him how I felt. And now I'm here reminiscing on the past.
So fucking stupid.
