CHAPTER 2:

"There are M&M's on the coffee table" my mom says with a wink as we walk through the door and we both simultaneously groan. Since we were little we were given the nickname "M&M" Ever since then, we've both loathed it.

one, because I can't eat certain varieties of M&M's and two, because Mike just dislikes them.

"Hi Mike," my mother says and Mike smiles. Since his mom left their family, my mom has been kind of like a rock for Mike and his sister. He knows that my mom loves him as much as she loves me and he'll always have a home in ours (as cheesy as that sounds)

"Hi Mrs. James" Mike says with a huge grin on his face.

"Mom, do we have any kernels?" I ask interrupting.

"Yup! I had a feeling you'd want some today so the machine is already running in your room."

"Thanks mom! Love you." I yell while dragging Mike behind me towards my room.

"It's my turn to pick this time."

"You picked last time Mad." he whines "I'm not watching City of Bones again with you. I've had enough of your ranting about how the book is way better. the movie's inaccurate. and blah, blah, blah."

"ugh. fine" I say throwing popcorn at him which he expertly catches in his mouth. Damnit! he already knows all my moves.

"So, I was thinking—"

"NO. NO HORROR MOVIES" I say. If there's one thing that I hate, then it's definitely horror movies. They're weird and they give me nightmares.

"Aww pleeeeeeeeease."

"Not unless you plan on sleeping beside me tonight." There's no way I'm going to be in a dark room all alone.

"Okay" he says cheerfully.

Damnit. It looks like I'm watching the exorcist. Here goes nothing...
