The Missing Journal (NWH)
It's been a few weeks since Spider-Man had defeated a shit ton of villains around the Statue of Liberty. Let me tell you, life has been crazy. I had recently gotten a few stitches after an accident that happened a while ago. I got into MIT with Ned and MJ. I went to visit my cousin in Jersey City for their birthday. And I started a Spider-Man fan club with Ned. But one day in particular was the definition of crazy.
On my way to meet MJ and Ned at the coffee shop before going to a movie. I look at the Daily Bugle website while walking, when I bumped into this strange guy. He looked around the same age as me. He didn't go to Midtown High, otherwise I would've probably recognized him. I swear, something about him seemed familiar. "Oh my God! I'm so sorry ma'am." A boy around my age apologized. "It's okay. I wasn't looking at my surroundings." I explained. "So, it's kinda my fault." "Dawn. It's you." He said. "How do you know my name?" I asked. "Um, you look like a Dawn." He replied. "Hey, is this your journal by any chance? I found it in the streets." "I thought I lost it!" I gasped. "Thanks so much for finding my journal, uh?" "Peter Parker." He introduced. "Thank you, Peter." I smiled. "Nice to officially meet you." "You too." Peter said. "Hey, do you know any good coffee places?" "Well, as a matter fact, my friend, MJ works at a coffee shop." I explained. "I was actually on my way over there to meet her and my boyfriend, Ned. I'd be happy to show you the way." "That would be great, Dawn." Peter replied.
On the way to the coffee shop, Peter told me a little bit about himself. He lived in Queens for a while. He was a huge Star Wars fan. Ned would probably like him. It wasn't long before we made it to the coffee shop. "Here we are!" I exclaimed. "That's MJ over at the register." I sat down at the counter, waiting for my usual order. "Are you cheating on Ned?" MJ asked me. "Don't be ridiculous. I just showed him the way over here." I replied. "He seemed lost. And my gut was telling me that I should help him. It was the least I could do after he found my journal." Just as Ned joined us, MJ took Peter's order. "Hi, can I help you?" MJ asked Peter. "Hi. Um, my name is Peter Parker, and I..." Peter trailed off. "...would like a coffee, please." "Okay, no problem, Peter Parker." MJ said, getting Ned and I two fresh baked donuts. "Two donuts for my fellow engineers." "Oh! Wait, what?" Ned asked. "The Engineers are the MIT mascot, dork." I chuckled. "Oh, right, right, right." Ned said. "I should probably know that. Look at you two with the school spirit." "Tell anybody, I will deny it." MJ whispered, going back to get Peter his coffee. "Don't push it, Ned." I said. "Oh, okay." Ned said, checking his phone. "Peter Parker?" MJ called, bringing his coffee out. "Peter Parker. Your coffee." "Right. Thank you." Peter thanked, taking the coffee. "Are you excited for MIT?" "Oh, right, yeah." MJ replied. "Uh, yeah. Actually, I am excited, which is weird, 'cause I don't really get excited about things. I kind of expect disappointment." "'Cause then you'll never actually be disappointed." Peter finished. "Right?" "Uh?" MJ wondered, confused. "Yeah. Right. I don't know. It just kinda feels different this time for some reason." "Right. What I was..." Peter began, remembering to pay her. He noticed the Band-AID on MJ's head. We coincidentally got hurt on the same day. "You okay?" "It doesn't really hurt anymore." MJ explains. "Is there anything else?" Peter thought about it for a moment, but he shook his head. "No." He replied. "Thank you." "No problem." MJ said. Right before he could leave, I stopped Peter for a moment. "Wait, Peter. If you ever want to hang out with us sometime, hit me up." I offered, giving him my phone number. "Maybe I will." Peter said, walking out the door. "See you around."
This Peter Parker guy was all MJ, Ned, and I talked about for days after that. Even though we just met Peter, it was like we had known him forever.
One day, I decided to skim through my journal to cure my boredom. Flipping through the pages, there was one name that stood out to me in these entries. Peter Parker. The same guy I showed to the coffee shop. The same guy who was clearly crushing on MJ. I never wrote this shit! Did I? And on top of that, I read something about him being Spider-Man in an early entry. MJ even said that something felt different after getting accepted into MIT. I'm starting to agree with her. I don't know who you are, Peter Parker, but I am ready to find out.
