Chapter 39| Had a Great Fall

By the time, Sana reached home her whole body ached. She was very sweaty too. Somehow, she struggled to walk up to her bed. She stood in front of the bed, opened her arms and dropped face down on the bed.

'Ahh...' Her groan was muffled by the blanket.

After she felt slightly better she decided to take a bath. She was sweating like a pig and so, there was no other option. She grabbed her clothes, loose grey Looney Tunes Tee and white and pink cotton shorts. The warm water rejuvenated her, and she felt relaxed. Sitting in the warm water for twenty minutes also soothed her sore body.

Who the heck does so much exercise on the first day – Sana thought while shaking her head. She recollected how excited she was to join Daanish in the park and now she mentally slapped herself for that.

Next time I will make some excuse – She made up her mind.

After the warm water bath, Sana dried her hair and sipped some Chamomile tea. Good, she had an unopen packet lying somewhere in the kitchen cabinet and she accidentally stumbled upon it. It was supposed to reduce stress and truly Sana felt tranquil.

After her tea, she jumped on her bed and snuggled into her blanket. That afternoon she had the most wonderful sleep of her life.

TRING...TRING.... TRING.

Sana groaned pulling out her hand from the blanket. She searched for her phone on the bedside table. She almost dropped it but before any accident, she managed to hold it firmly. She picked it up and pulled her hand back into the blanket.

'Hello!' She said groggily.

'Sana are you sleeping?' Alishba's voice came from the other side. Sana mentally groaned. She wanted to sleep but now Alishba's never-ending talks will start.

'Speak up, this is important.' Alishba said. There was an unusual urgency in her voice.

'Yeah, yeah.' Sana rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up on the bed. She leaned against the bedpost and rested her head on it.

Alishba sighed, - 'Can you check on Bhai please.' She said, and Sana's eyes opened. She shifted in her place.

'What happened to him?' Sana asked, concerned.

'Nothing serious. Bhai fell from the stairs-', She giggled and then continued, - 'He broke his ankle. Neighbors had called an ambulance and he is in the hospital.'

'What!' Sana was shocked.

'What? Have you been dead? So much commotion happened, and you didn't know.' Alishba sounded amused.

Sana sat up on her knees and slapped her forehead. Seriously, she had slept like a dead log.

'Okay. I will check on him.' Sana replied and cut the call. Still, she can't believe she slept so deeply that she didn't wake up with the sound of the ambulance siren. Her locality was quiet and any such loud sound was bound to echo. She groaned and fell back on the bed.

Damn!

Sana changed into her casuals, sleeveless floral knee-length summer dress. She combed her hair, grabbed her keys, wallet and mobile. She stuffed her wallet and mobile into her handbag and stepped out of the apartment. She locked the apartment door and adjusted the sling of her handbag.

Luckily, she got a cab ride to the hospital. She leaned on the seat and glanced at her wristwatch. It was 9 pm.

They reached the hospital within fifteen minutes. Sana paid the driver and climbed down the cab. She adjusted the sling of her handbag once again as walked into the hospital.

'Excuse me. Where is patient Daanish Ahmed Ali? He had a fracture.' Sana asked the young man behind the reception. The young British man nodded and checked the computer screen. He looked up and told her the room number. Sana nodded and turned around.

She was guided by some nurses and she reached the ward where Daanish was admitted. Sana had rarely come to hospitals in London, she chooses to visit the clinic when she terribly ill. This hospital was no less than a maze for her.

Sana paused in front of the room and adjusted her hair before entering. She found Daanish on the bed with his right leg in the air. His ankle banged severely.

Sana imagined him toppling down the stairs and suppressed her giggle. She adjusted her expressions and walked in. There was a doctor examining him and a nurse beside him. She cleared her throat and all three looked at her. Daanish looked visibly embarrassed. Sana pressed her lips tightly.

'Hello! I am Sana. Daanish's friend.' She introduced herself to the doctor. He nodded and shifted turning to face her.

'Hello, Miss. Sana. Dr. Andrew.' The young doctor, about Sana's age or perhaps slightly older, introduced himself. They shook hands.

'Your friend, Daanish,' – He looked at Daanish for a moment and then looked back at Sana, - 'Has fractured his ankle. It isn't that serious but yes he will be needing at least two weeks of bed rest and one month of no serious workouts or ankle movements.' The Doctor said seriously. Sana glanced at Daanish, they recollected the time the park. Sana grinned while he looked away looking upset.

The Doctor went on to say that they will keep him in the hospital tonight and he will be good to go the next day. Sana nodded. The doctor spoke kindly with Daanish, patted his shoulder and left with the nurse. After they had left, Sana looked at Daanish.

'Come on. Make fun of me like Alishba was doing.' Daanish said rolling his eyes. Sana suppressed her smile and shook her head. She walked towards him and stood next to his bandaged leg.

'No. I am here to see you. How are you?' Sana asked. She looked at the bandaged ankle and looked back at him.

'I was on a call with Nadia and skipped a step. Then.' He sighed shaking his head.

Hot Humpty Dumpty had a great fall – Sana mentally grinned. She made a sad face.

'It happens.'

'My mobile broke too.' Daanish groaned. He added after a pause, - 'Now I can't talk to Nadia also.' He said bitterly. Sana was doubly happy. She mentally told herself to not be happy, poor Daanish was hurt.

'No problem.' – Sana took out her phone from her purse, - 'Call from mine. She must be worried about you.' She smiled at him. Daanish looked gratefully at her and took her phone.

'Nadia will eat my head if I don't call and inform her.' He said fidgeting with the phone.

'46789.' - Sana said suddenly and Daanish looked at her confused, - 'Pin of my phone.' She gestured towards the phone.

'Oh, Thanks.' Daanish said.
