Chapter 2| Be a Bitch

Sana walked into the big room filled with cloth racks filled with clothes. Few people were working on their designs, some of papers while some worked on mannequins. She looked at everyone, her eyes scanning the room. Holding the papers under her arms she walked towards her table and dumped the designs. She stood behind the desk and looked at her busy team members. She cleared her throat. Everyone paused and looked at her. Sana beamed at everyone and clasped her palms tightly.

'Good morning, team. Gather around please.' She said addressing the room at large. The team members left their work and walked towards the table. Sana fidgeted with the hem of the trace papers, her eyes darting from one person to the other.

'Umm... Guys, these designs got rejected.'

As soon as Sana announced this there is a collective groan followed by murmuring. Sana watched her team members curse and call Adah by various names. She cringed. She had to clap her palms to quieten everyone. She exhaled deeply and forced a smile.

'I know, guys, we all little upset-'

'Little?'

'We are very upset.'

'Yes.

'We are working our ass off over here and Adah is just rejecting our designs.'

'This is not fair'

And before, Sana knew it the team members were out of control. Sana repeatedly asked them to relax but they kept angrily protesting. Eventually, she held her forehead. Everyone has such sophisticated and graceful team members, but Sana has been given a difficult team. The loud voices muffled Sana's meek voice. Sana looked haphazardly at everyone, requesting them to relax. And then...

'SILENCE.' Everyone froze.

Sana turned her head to the source of the voice and is relieved on seeing Adah standing by the door, her assignment, a young blonde girl, closely behind her. Adah glared at everyone, her gaze resting on Sana. She lowered her head in shame but felt Adah's piercing gaze on her. Adah stood beside Sana and ordered everyone to get to work, she also scolded them for being unprofessional and whiny. After everyone had dispersed, Adah turned to face Sana and she quickly lowered her head again.

'What is this, Sana?' She spoke in a relatively softer tone, - 'You are heading a team, you are a leader, but you can't control your own team? You can't be a softie on them. Be strong-- Be a bitch. Okay?' She advised her, and Sana nodded her head.

Sana used to be feisty back in school days, maybe her step-father brought the anger in her. That motivation was missing here in London. Sana sighed and turned to face the hall, everyone had gotten to work. She lowered her head and unfolded one sheet of paper. She stared at the design, observing it carefully.

After the day's work, around 6 pm, Sana packed her stuff and left her cabin. On the way, she met Emma who had completed her shift as well. They smiled at each other. Emma walked up to her and asked, - 'Hey, wanna grab something? Pizza?' The teen asked. Sana smiled tilting her head little and responded.

'Na, not Pizza. My yoga instructor will fire on me.' She thought for a while and said, - 'Coffee? Or Tea?'

Emma thought for a while, - 'Tea.' She grinned and added, - 'How can a British refuse Tea?'

Sana smiled and adjusted the sling of her bag on her elbow, - 'How can an Indian refuse Tea, either?'

Emma and Sana met one year back and somehow really clicked with each other. Sana is also friendly with Michael, Emma's boyfriend. He goes to college with Emma and he too works part-time as a waiter in a coffee joint to support his studies. Sana really admired their passion for their studies.

'Hey, Afzal! One Masala Chai for me and one normal milk tea for Emma.' Sana ordered standing next to the empty seat. Afzal, a young waiter beamed at them nodding politely. Emma seated while Sana removed her olive coat and muffler. She placed them neatly on the back of the chair and sat pulling the chair closer to the table.

'I will have Samosas too. Heard they are nice.' Emma said brightly. Sana nodded with a smile.

'They are amazing.' She said. But she herself passed the offer. Being a health freak, Sana refrains from all these oily fatty stuff.

'Your loss.' Emma shrugged.

Just a month ago, accidentally Sana stumbled upon this Indian Café which was surprisingly close to where she lived. Since then Sana has been a regular customer here. From the owner to most of the waiters know her. Afzal, the young Indian Lad is one of them.

Sana rubbed her palms together and pulled the sleeve of her grey top covering her palms. Emma eyed her and pointed out that the heater is on. Yet, Sana was feeling very cold. She always feels very cold, no matter what. Now, she is looking forward to a hot cup of tea so that she will warm up from inside. The very thought brought a smile to her face. Soon, Afzal arrived with their order, smiled at the girls and walked off. Sana was about to pick up her cup when Emma leaned forward. She grabbed it so swiftly that Sana didn't even get time to react, she was startled.

'What? I just want to taste the Masala Chai.' She defended herself cutely. Sana simply smiled. She watched as her friend took a sip and complimented it.

'Invite me someday, I would love to have Indian food.' She said brightly. Her green eyes twinkled. Sana nodded with a smile.

After they had their snacks, the girls walked together and after a distance, they parted ways. Sana stopped outside the main door of her building, unzipped her bag and rummaged through it.

'Darn, keys.' She cursed searching for it. As she urgently searched her bag, the main door opened, and her head shot up.

'Hey, Sana.' A tall, well-built or rather muscly Indian man greeted her.

'Hello, Sir.' Sana said politely. The man dressed in red turtleneck shirt, black overcoat and denim frowned at her and Sana mentally rolled her eyes.

'How many times do I have to tell you, Sana. Call me, Ajith.' He said in a flirty tone, after a small pause he added, - 'I am just your Yoga instructor, not some sir.' He said with a grin.

'Okay, Ajith.' Sana said with a straight face. Ajith opened his mouth to blabber some more when two little kids and a woman appeared from behind him.

'Papa, Papa. Let us go.' The kids said in unison. The woman smiled warmly at Sana and they greeted each other. Mrs. Ajith Singh, urf Payal Singh is a beautiful young woman, mother of two and wife of an extremely flirty Yoga Instructor. Payal doesn't talk much as they had to rush, and Sana didn't mind. As they left she felt slightly bad for Payal and annoyed with Ajith. Even though, he is married with kids he never leaves a single opportunity to flirt with the women in his class. He has a special interest in Sana, but she always rebukes him. The reason she isn't complaining about him is Payal and the kids, and secondly, she won't get a class so nearby.
