Ainsley's P.O.V.:

The bell rang which meant it was time to go to lunch, I needed to come up with a story fast. On my way to the lunchroom Maya, Lola, and Jess met up with me. We all started taking about the latest gossip.

"Sooooo how did it go with Cam last night Lo?" Maya Woods asked. Maya Woods is a junior at AJHS and is 16 years old. Maya has beautiful long strawberry blonde hair with gray eyes with specks of green in them. She was one of the popular girls and was very pretty, Maya wasn't like most popular girls though she was extremely nice and really caring about other people and just because her parents were rich she still respected everyone the same as it should be.

Lola blushed. "It went really well." She responded. "He invited me to a movie tonight."

"Did you say yes?" Jess asked. Jessica Stanley is a sophomore and is also 16 years old. Jess has a perfect shade o jet black hair and big hazel eyes to match her big personality.  She is very sporty, more of a tomboy, but she is very kind and very competitive. Jess is super tall too and looks as if she could be a model if she wanted to.

"Yes. I said yes. Duh!" Lola answered softly in almost a whisper, chuckling a bit.

All of us hugged Lola because we were so happy for her. 

I said. "I hate to say I told ya so, but, I told ya so sis." I giggled and she hit my arm playfully. We all laughed. 

We were sitting at our normal table near the south window. Keaton was sitting a the jocks table 2 tables down, so I had a clear view of him. I looked up and our eyes met, he smiled and I looked down immediately and tried not to blush.

The girls and I finished eating our lunch mostly with small talk and homecoming talk. I couldn't believe Hoco was in less than 3 weeks. I also cannot believe that we've been back in school for a whole month. Lola was talking about how she wanted Cameron to ask her to the Hoco dance.

"Lola, if things keep going this well with Cam you most definitely will go with him to the Hoco dance." Jess said.

"I am hoping you're right, It would suck to not have a date again this year." Lola responded. "Who are you guys planning to go with?" Lola asked the group.

"I was thinking maybe Cooper would ask me, he is super cute and he's in the same grade as me." Jess said. Cooper Adamson was a sophomore and was a star on the basketball court. Jess thought maybe she had a chance with him since they hung out a bunch over the summer.

"I think Coop would be great for you. He seemed sweet on you over the summer Jess." I answered smiling and winked at her.

Cooper's older brother, Matt is friends with Josh and he used to come over a lot so I knew Coopers family well. Josh is my older brother.

"So how about you Maya? Has Brant asked you yet?" Lola asked.

"No, he hasn't asked yet. But, I am sure it's coming this Friday we are going out and he says he has something special planned. So I am hoping he gonna ask me. Maya answered.

"What about you Ains? Anyone special caught your eye yet? You are the only one of us that has never had a boyfriend let alone ever been on a date." Lola asked.

I blushed and smiled. "I don't know. No one ha really ever asked me out before so that's not my fault. It doesn't really bother me much though. The right person will come along at the right time." I pleaded.

Lola rolled her eyes and said. "We'll see Ains. You just can't be so picky."

I chuckled. Then I changed the subject.

"So are you guys ready for the game tomorrow?" I asked. I was referring to our biggest Volleyball game of the year verses the state champions last year the West Wood Wildcats, they were are rival school since Westwood was the town next to us so we knew each other well.

"I am so read to kick their asses and I am so excited to see Chelsea and Brit" Jess said. "I haven't seen them in ages."

"Me too. I'm just glad it's a home game this year. Normally they have home court advantage but not this year. I think I have my serve down really well." Maya stated.

"I agree, I have been setting the ball really well this year. The best I've ever done so I am super excited. Plus, our overall team has improved immensely already since last year. That's mostly thanks to Jess though. Thanks for moving here last spring Jess." Lola said.

Jess was our libero and she was really good at what she did. Jess moved from Wisconsin because her dad got a really good job here. She was the libero of the State Runner-Up team in Wisconsin as a freshman so it really was an honor to play with her.

"I am just excited because I think we could definitely win this year." I said.

Just then the lunch bell rang which mean I had 4 more class periods til volleyball then I would have to talk with Keaton. I am just glad that Lola didn't ask any questions.

I had P.E. next period with Mr. Howard. I always have liked P.E. but, I have a lot on my mind today so I didn't feel like going. Mostly because Keaton had it with me. Luckily Maya had it with me too. I told Maya what was up because I knew she wasn't going to tell Lola about it.

"So, I have something to tell you May. Um... well Keaton asked me to meet him at YoloFroyo after practice tonight because of something that happend at English earlier." I stuttered out. "And I am afraid to go against the contract we made years ago, the rules specifically say no dating relatives and no lying to each other. I might end up breaking two of those rules." I finished.

Maya looked shocked. "Um. I don't really know what to say, that's quite awkward I'm sure. Do you know why he wants to meet you?" She asked. "And I'm sure Lola will understand just talk to her."

"Yeah, I mean well kinda. Earlier at English he brought me a Vanilla latte and he kept smiling at me and he texted me too." I answered. "I don't really know whats up but I think it has something to do with that." I showed her the text conversation.

"Um Ains, I'm gonna tell you the truth. I think maybe Keaton has a small crush on you. I mean I know you and Lo have a strict policy, but maybe you should go." Maya suggested.

"To be honest with you, I have had the biggest crush on Keat too, I just didn't want Lola to get mad at me. But just so you know this convo stays between us Maya. I dunno how to tell Lo yet." I confessed.

Maya nodded. "I won't tell anyone. I promise Ains. But I don't think a rule you made over 10 years should affect your life now. I mean if you started dating Keaton wouldn't you still be besties with Lola? What if you decide that Keaton's the one. Is that going to affect anything." Maya finished.

"I don't know Maya but Lola is more important to me than anything and I don't wanna do anything to hurt her. Maybe we will go back over the rules and we could drop them?." I asked.

"I would do that. I wish ya luck. We should probably go tho, Howard hates it when people are late." Maya said.

We walked into the gym and as soon as Keaton walked in with Mitch and Brant his eyes locked with mine. I gulped and tried to keep myself together. Luckily Mr. Howard started talking about that game we were gonna play.

"Ok you guys can choose Dodgeball, Archery, or basketball." Mr. Howard said.

"Raise your hand for Dodgeball. Archery. Basketball."

Almost everyone raised their hand in favor of dodgeball.

"The majority of people chose Dodgeball so that is what we are going to play." Mr. Howard stated.

Everybody went into the gym closet and grabbed a few dodge balls and then put them on the line. Mr. Howard made Keaton and Brant captains. Mr. Howard flipped a coin on who would get first pick. Brant won the toss.

"I choose Mitch." Brant said.

Mitch walked up and fist pumped Brant.

"Yes my boy. You've chosen wisely." Mitch said and chuckled.

"I want Ainsley." Keaton said.

I looked shocked and I knew everyone else was too. Keaton never chose me on his team.

"Me? Are you sure Keat?" I asked.

"Yeah Ains, you're on my team." Keaton said.

I blushed when he said Ains.

I stood their in shock as they finished dividing the teams.

Khloe, Brooke, Naomi, Brock, Luke, Eric were on Mitch and Brant's team.

Keaton, Maya, Ashley, Adam, Peter, Nathan, Kevin, and I were on a team.

Ashley was gushing over Keaton. Which kind of bothering me. I have never been bothered by it before but today she really had gotten on my nerves. She was using Keat as a human shield to block all the balls. Ashley was a cheerleader. Ash has brown hair and blue eyes. Ash and I were friends. But, I always knew she was really friends with Lola and I to get closer to Keaton.

"Come on Keaton protect me. If I get hurt from this I won't look pretty for he game on Friday." Ash pleaded.

"Come on Ash, these balls are soft they aren't going to hurt you. Stop being such a dram queen." Keaton answered sternly.

Everyone giggled. Keaton just looked at me and smiled. Luckily it was the end of P.E. As we were cleaning up.

Keaton said. "See you in 8th Ains. I'm looking forward to it."

I just nodded and then Maya ran up to me and smiled. I knew what she was going to say. Maya started opening her mouth.

"Don't even say it." I said to her.

"He definitely likes you Ains. I've never seen him like that." Maya said.

I pretended I didn't hear it and said. "I have Spanish I gotta go."

"OK whatever you say Miss Morris." Maya said as she walked to her math class.

Spanish went quickly and I was glad it did because the only class I had left today was Science. I was taking advanced chemistry this year. Keaton was in that class.

I walked into Ms. Allards room and sat in my normal seat. Ms. Allard got up our of her desk and started speaking.

"OK class today we are going to be doing some experiments. I am going to pair you up according to experience level. These partners are going to be your partners the rest of the year so no complaining." Ms. Allard said.

She began reading out her assignments. Mason was with Anna, Paisley was with Cora, Joe was with Kenna, there were more but while she was saying them I was trying to think who was in my grade and experience level. Finally she said my name.

"Ainsley you are with Keaton." Ms. Allard said.

Keaton just looked at me and smiled. I was so nervous.

As Ms. Allard finished reading off the names she explained our assignment we would be identifying the different stages of mitosis.

He scooted his chair over to my desk so we could start working together. "Hey partner." Keaton said.

All I said was. "Hey Keat." Because I didn't want to say something I'd regret later on.

Then we went to work on our project. I identified 3 of them and Keaton did some as well. He was actually really smart. He just didn't like to show it. Keaton had a 3.7 GPA. Which would get him into the colleges he wanted in to.

Keaton asked me some questions about myself.

"So what kind of Froyo are you going to get tonight?" He asked in almost a whisper.

"I really like strawberry." I said. "What about you?" I finished.

"I like strawberry too, but I also enjoy the watermelon one." He said.

Finally the bell rang which meant it was time for volleyball practice. As I walked out of the science lab.

"Ains, I'll See ya at 7 at the YoloFroyo." It was Keaton.

"Yep I will see ya there Keat." I said. "Have a good practice." I added.

"Thanks. How about I pick you up at your house. You'll probably want to shower after practice won't you?" He said and winked at me.

"Um sure Keat you can pick me up I guess. I was just going to meet you there. But, you can pick me up if you want." I answered.

"OK Ains, see you then I will pick you up at 7. You have a good practice too. Serve good" Keaton said.

As I walked to the locker room I kept wondering what was I supposed to wear to something like this. It was technically a date. Was it? No, Keaton never asked me on a date. He just said he wanted to talk to me, there's a difference. Isn't there?
