Chapter One
"I can't wait for the party tonight!" I say to my best friend, Natalie, as I pull the crop top over my head.
"I know, it's gonna be a blast!" She replies, while slipping into her black cutoff shorts.
"For sure. Jason's driving us, right?" I ask, referencing her boyfriend of three months.
"Yeah. He's coming for eight. So we have about twenty mintues or so."
"Awesome. So, how does this look?" I ask, standing up to my full height of 5'5".
I spin around once so the whole outfit comes into view.
I wear white cutoff shorts and a lacey black crop top.
"I approve very much. So will Blaze." She says, raising her eyebrows and wiggling them.
"Ugh. Don't remind me. Now I am thinking about changing." I tell her, rolling my eyes.
Blaze is pretty much the biggest player in our school, and currently I am his newest target.
It has happened to everyone, now it is happening to me.
I hate Blaze. I have for three years now, ever since I met him in ninth grade.
He is just another playboy who hooks up with girls and has them attached at the hips for about a week and then drops them.
The only thing significant about me being his new fling is that he has been after me much longer than he has been after any other girl. Ever.
Blaze has liked me for about three weeks now. The longest time for anyone else has been one and a half weeks, and counting. So, because of this, Natalie thinks that this is one of those romantic - cheesey stories where the badboy falls for the uninterested nerd. But, I'm not a nerd. Im just uninterested. I am actually quite popular in my school.
I am part of the cheerleading team but I don't marvel in the glory of being popular, I prefer my group of friends. The popular people always turn out to be bitches and players so I try to avoid them, but they all seem to like me.
Natalie laughs at me and spins around in her own outfit for me to examine.
She is wearing black cutoff shorts and a light blue halter top.
Her makeup looks nice but a tad over done if I have any complaints. The nude lipstick and bold mascara look great, but she also decided to do a smoky eye look, which, in my opinion is over doing it. She also wears foundation and concealer to cover her blemishes that she always complains of, but really, her skin is flawless. She wears a light coat of powder and light pink blush to top it off.
Natalie's sandy blonde hair is loosely curled and falls down her back in perfect waves.
For shoes, she wears black pumps which totally ties the outfit together.
She looks stunning, as she always does.
"You look great." I tell her.
"Thanks Jade. So do you."
I smile at my best friend as I head into the en-suite adjacent to my bedroom. I look in the mirror and smile at myself.
I was born naturally pretty. It is a quality that I treasure but try to not brag about. Beauty isn't everything to me, its how you act and who you are to everyone that is what makes you who you are. I have always believed that.
My long dark brown hair has been curled loosely as well, and falls similar to Natalie's, the only difference being that my curls are slightly bigger and bouncier.
I wear no mascara as I was blessed with natural long dark thick lashes, yet I did curl them.
I also wear foundation, powder, and blush. But no bronzer as my skin is naturally tan, thanks to my Italian heritage.
Unlike Natalie, I wear no eyeshadow. I do however, have some colour painted on my lips. But rather than a natural nude, I chose a bold red. I thought it would add a nice pop of colour to my rather black and white attire.
On my feet I wear a simple pair of white flats, as I have never been a fan of heels.
We suddenly hear the loud honk of a horn.
"Hmm," I say, popping my head out of the bathroom door, "looks like he's here early."
Natalie shrugs as she grabs her phone off the table, passing me mine as well.
Together, we head out of my room, up the stairs, and into Jason's parked car.

"This is so much fun!!" Natalie shouts to me over the blaring music.
"I know! I'm so glad we came!" I yell back.
"Even with Blaze?" She whisper-yells back, taking another swig of her beer.
I nod my head slightly. Out of the corner of my eye I can still see him, watching me.
He has been stood in the doorway for the past ten minutes, just staring openly at me.
"Even with Blaze." I confirm.
"Good," she yells to me, "I'm glad you're having fun! This is what senior year is all about Jade. Making memories, letting loose, having fun!"
I tilt my chin back laughing, somehow I doubt we will remember most of the things we did, as the affects of the alcohal are just starting to kick in, and already I can't seem to think straight.
"You're right. As old as the saying is, we only lice once, let's make the most of it."
"Damn right, girl friend!" Natalie yells, bringing the top of the beer to her lips, and chugging it back.
I look over again to where Blaze is, but now I see two people watching me. Blaze is still one of them, but now he is joined by Jason.
I smile at him, waving my hands.
He smiles back lightly, and waves his hands as well, but not as if to say hi. He waves his hands to motion me over.
I shrug my shoulders, telling Natalie that I will be right back, and head over to where Jason is stood.
He immediately takes my hand and leads me into a seperate room, up the stairs.
We get into what appears to be a bedroom and Jason immediately locks the door.
"I can't take this anymore," he says, walking over to me in a rush.
"Jason, what's going o---" but before I can finsih my sentence, my face is between his hands and his lips are on mine.
