"We need to hide, now!"

Nines advises as he grabbed (Y/n)'s hand and leads her to the back room, where the others stored the rest of their hacking equipment. Nines and (Y/n) then quickly hide behind a torn up couch, Pod following after them. (Y/n) starts to hyperventilate as she heard the knocks turn into bangs and soon...she heard someone break down the iron door. She squeaks as she covers her ears, wishing that the intruders would just steal their things and leave. Unfortunately, these weren't just intruders...it was two brothers, along with other government spies, who were searching for their target.
(Y/n) heard their footsteps as they slowly made it down the stairs and into the living room. She peeks from behind the couch and gasped, for the men were all carrying guns...

She knew that they were going to use those guns on her and the thought filled her with fear.

She shook as she started to cry, praying that she would live another day. She didn't want any of her family members to come home and find her dead body sprawled on the floor while Nines was nowhere to be seen.

Nines watched (Y/n) worryingly as he tried to think of a way to save her...

He knew there was only one thing he could resort to...but (Y/n) wasn't going to like it.

Nines takes his old blindfold out of
his sweater pocket and wraps it around (Y/n)'s eyes, covering her vision.
She quickly noticed this and gasped.

"H-Huh...?"

Nines then leans in, whispering in her ear.

"Whatever you do...don't peek under the blindfold."

Nines then places a kiss on her head before taking his sword out, then cautiously enters the living room, coming face to face with the group of government spies, who were surprised to see him there. Nines then lowers his sword, keeping it by his side as he spoke to the men in a gentle voice.

"I know you're here for me...but I am not coming with you. Please leave me and my family alone."

"Unit 9S, we've been ordered to return you back to the government facility and we've also been ordered to kill the one who helped you escape. Show us where she is."

"...Over my dead body."

Nines tightly gripped his sword, hoping that he wouldn't have to resort to killing...he promised (Y/n) after all.

But, he had also learned that promises were meant to be broken.

He points his sword at the men, his hands shaking as a single tear drips down his cheek.

"Please...don't make me do this..."

"Unit 9S, if you aren't willing to come with us, then we will force you."

The group of men then charged at the android, causing him to close his eyes and take a deep breath.

Very well then.

Behind the blindfold, (Y/n) couldn't see anything...but she definitely can hear everything that was happening in front of her.

She heard the screams. She heard the cries. She heard the bodies drop left and right. She felt warm sticky liquid spray all over her face as she heard something crash on the wall beside her. She smelled the horrible stench of blood. But the worse thing she heard was the voices...the sad, frightened voices.

"A-Adam...brother...no..."

And then silence.

(Y/n) heard footsteps coming towards her, but she knew who they belonged to. She then felt the warmth of Nines arms wrapping around her, stroking her hair as he kissed her wet cheeks.

"It's okay, it's okay...they're gone now."

"You promised...you promised you wouldn't kill anyone ever again..."

"I know...I'm sorry, (Y/n). I'm so sorry..."

She heard sadness in Nines voice as she felt him shake in her arms. She knew right then that this wasn't the killing machine that Pod told her about...this was Nines, her protector and her best friend.

Nines wouldn't stop crying or begging for forgiveness the rest of the night. It appeared that he too had committed a sin that day.
