Looking back, it shouldn't have bothered me as much as it did.

But I had the feeling when the leader of the snobby elites of the Junior class told me what I had to do, while also smiling, that I would live to regret it.

I know I'm not the first seventeen year old guy who ever changed schools in the middle of the year, but I'm also not your average student. It will soon be revealed why.

Anyway, every new student has to undergo some form of acceptance ritual, but I would soon come to see that mine was particularly cruel. Not just to me, but to someone I would come to care for a great deal. Kind of love, actually.

Ahhh, who am I kidding? I would come to fall madly in love with her. The question was, though, could she ever love me? You see, I have a secret. My parents are Kurogane, Ayakashi.

Our family line originates in Japan. But we were sent all the way here to Washington State to tame a Yako. And the current son of a Yako happens to be a student here at the Kingsley Summit Preparatory Academy.

Only the best for our resident field fox, Tuto. His name means, 'This One,' and he is rumored to have many tails. As many as ten, some say.

I am Koya, which means, 'To Learn.' This will be my first mission, but it is critical.

I highly doubt that Tuto has achieved ten tails, but that he would use the rumor to his advantage is more than possible.

My parents were given these little details when Master Kurogane chose me to bring Tuto down. You might be asking yourself why it even matters.

In most circumstances, it wouldn't.

But these are not normal circumstances.

Kingsley Summit, happens to be where my fated lives. Before she discovers who she is, Tuto must be dealt with. His miscreants of a family must be banished.

Driven out and exiled back to the unholy mountains from which they escaped. It won't be easy.

Tuto has established himself here and won't take kindly to my appearance, so I will have to be smarter than him. According to the ancient regulations I must outwit Tuto by tricking him into giving away that he is in fact, not who he portrays himself to be, through his tail-less form.

This has to be done subtly though, as it's disgraceful to simply out one another. Unfortunately Tuto will begin with the upper hand. For my fated's sake I hope he plays by the rules but, I have a feeling he won't.

Tuto's family has become a highly esteemed, prominent family here in Kingsley Summit and won't take kindly to my intrusion of their lucrative lifestyle.

How do I feel about that? I'll try to figure it out. After all, it's my first time here in America, so we'll see!
