7) Christmas: Part 1

A/N: Thank you all so much for the 1K reads! I am so grateful for every vote, comment and read so far, and I hope you enjoy this chapter. :)

Red and green were the first colours that greeted me when I woke up.

It was only after a minute that I recognised that it was a brightly wrapped present, being shoved into my face, at seven a.m. "Merry Christmas!" Ginny called out cheerfully, her cheeks already tinted with the rosy colour that Christmas brought.

I got up wearily, my eyes still faded from my morning stupor. "Merry Christmas!" I called out groggily.

Ginny beamed. Suddenly, another figure appeared from behind her holding another parcel. "Don't forget about me!"

I laughed. "Why don't you let me get up first? After all, I need to give you all your presents."

"No need. We've already found them." I looked over to find the twins' tearing their presents with vigor, from underneath my bed.

Ginny and Donna glanced at each other sharing a sinister smile, and before I knew it, I saw a pettily wrapped present being thrown my way, with Ginny and Donna joining Reyna and Rebecca under the pile of parcels. I fell straight back down onto my bed.

~After Briar's morning routine etc.~

"Open it!" Ginny yelled into my ear, making my eardrums burst from the noise.

I held up my hands as a surrender. "Jeez, I've got it." I shifted my eyes upon the green parcel, holding out my hands to untie the crimson ribbons. Ginny, Donna and the twins all looked at me with eagerness, since they had finished opening all their gifts.

As I unwrapped it, I began to suspect it was some sort of book. Once the wrapping paper had completely fallen of, I stared with awe at the gift Ginny had given me. It was a photobook of our first year at Hogwarts, all four of us included in it.

"Ginny, this is amazing!" I exclaimed in wonder. I flicked through the first couple of pages carefully, looking over at our smiling faces. There was the one on our first night together, with all of us in our pajamas, up until my hospital injury.

"I knew you'd like it," Ginny replied with a grin.

Donna pushed in to the pile of presents. "Mine next!" she said excitedly, shoving the present at my face.

Once again, I took it and what was inside surprised me. A Christmas jumper.

"You knit?" I asked her.

"Yes," Donna spoke out proudly.

"My mum does the same thing as well. It's really funny as Ron hates the colour maroon," Ginny said as she unravelled her own green one under her bed.

I admired my own navy blue jumper, with a big white 'B' stitched onto the front. "Thank you," I exclaimed, hugging Donna excitedly.

Lastly, the twins pushed their present towards me, giving me a smile. The present looked tiny, only about the size of my wrist. I stared at it nervously, expecting some sort of prank from them. Both girls just gave me a nod in response.

Opening the present, I saw a sliver of a page starting to unravel. I carried on opening it, ignoring all the girls' watchful gazes upon my hands. Finally, when I had finished unwrapping it, I gasped at the object. "A diary?"

The twins nodded. "With everything going on, we thought you'd like one. That's what we gave Donna as well."

"What about Ginny?" I asked.

"Since she already has a diary, we gave her a friendship bracelet instead," Rebecca said, gesturing at the rainbow beaded hoop on Ginny's wrist. Ginny's mouth parted. "Yeah, it's really pretty, don't you think?"

Donna and I agreed. "Yep, it looks amazing. Why didn't we get one?" I joked playfully. They laughed. "We'll make one for you and Donna as well, don't worry."

I rolled over to my bed again. "Now why don't we get a few more hours worth of sleep?" I said, craving for the warmth of my blanket again. But before I could lay my head down, all three girls grabbed my arms, jolting me from my wish, and started dragging me downstairs.

"Briar, there's a whole party going on down at the Common Room!" Reyna called out with anticipation, rolling up the sleeves on her Christmas jumper.

"But all I want for Christmas is to sleep!" I groaned from underneath my jumper.

"That's too bad as we're all going, whether you like it or not!" Donna exlaimed, leaping across the massive pile of wrapping paper.

"Ughh, fine then."

A/N: This is my first time writing in someone other than Briar's POV so bear with. :)

Ginny's POV:

It was dinner now. The few people that had chosen to stay were crowded around one long elongated table filled with plates of mouth-watering food. I looked around and spotted my brother alongside his two companions, shoving food down their throats. Not surprising.

" I think we should go outside after this, yeah?" Briar asked.

"Sure." Donna took some more dessert, after her eating her second dish.

They both looked over at me. "Um, yes, ok?" I replied meekly. The truth was, I was planning on throwing away my diary, as I was starting to become a bit suspicious of it. But now that everyone in my dorm room knew about it, it might have to wait for a couple of weeks.

"Great!" Donna exlaimed. "I can't wait for it, loser has to clean up all the mess in our dorm!"

"Couldn't the twins do that?" Briar questioned playfully, a hint of mischief in her eyes.

Donna tilted her head back. "Actually, yeah. That's a good idea, as they don't seem to do anything to help nowadays."

I nodded. That'd be fine, as long as I remembered to hide my diary under my bed again. But for now, it was time to actually have some fun, which I hadn't had for a long time, due to school. I stood up. "Who's ready?" I asked, dusting off the remaining crumbs from my robes.

Donna and Briar looked at each other, grinning before replying simultaneously, "Last one outside is a rotten tomato!"

***

I gasped. It seemed that I had gotten the worst out of the snowball fight and therefore claimed the "loser" of the game. It didn't matter though, as I had truly felt like I had let free for once since I had arrived at Hogwarts. It was fun to just mess around with my friends, and not be worrying about anything.

I felt Donna and Briar trudge slowly behind me, chattering together about the fight. I turned back. "I'm going to go ahead, I think I need to check something." They both looked back at me. "Sure, that's fine. We'll wait for you in the common room," Donna said cheerfully.

I nodded at them before sprinting upstairs towards my dorm room. It had started off as a thought at the back of my head, but after the snowball fight, I had become increased with worry that I had forgotten to move my diary. I wondered if the twins had actually started tidying yet. My heart pounded against my chest as I lunged up the stairs, three at a time with terror. No one could find out about my secet. Not even my friends.

I finally reached the common room, ignoring the handful of people staring at me running across the room. My hands slid along the smooth staircase banister as I climbed up the steps towards my dorm. Once I had reached the floor, I panted, clutching at my sides. My eyes scanned my surroundings, noticing nothing out of the usual until I heard voices. I crept closer towards my room.

"Reyna, stop...!" A burst of laughter resounded against the room. "You're going to make me fall down!" Another fit of giggles escaped from Reyna.

"It's only a bed, it won't hurt you if you hit it!"

"Yes but-"

A crash echoed in my ears. Reyna and Rebecca became silent. What had happened? It seemed as if they were tickling each other, they must have fallen down somewhere. But where? I grew more fearful, waiting for them to get up. It would be weird if I went in now, especially if they found out I'd been listening in.

"Oh dear. Reyna?" Rebecca said with a small voice.

"What?" Reyna's muffled voice replied out.

"I think we just spilt some ink. It's all over someone's bed."

Rebecca, I think, stood up. "Who's bed?"

Reyna gulped. "Ginny's. And it seems it's gone all over her diary."

I stilled. Seconds seemed to go by in hours. This was the very thing I had been hoping to avoid. I sniffed, feeling a tickling sensation in my noise. I rubbed at it forcefully, which only made it worse. Silently groaning inside, I leant against the wall. Why me? What did I do to deserve this? I sniffed again. "Ah-ah-achoo!"

The hallway erased itself of all noise. "Did you hear that?" a voice asked from inside my dorm room.

I sighed. It was of no use standing around here and waiting to be caught. I might as well go inside. The damage was done, and it was better if only the twins knew about this, without Donna or Briar finding out.

I opened the door slightly and peeked inside. There stood Reyna and Rebecca, ink all over their clothes, with Reyna holding my diary. The tottering pile of wrapping paper still stood in the middle of the room, splayed a little due to the twins.

I breathed in heavily. "Give it here."

Rebecca arched one of her eyebrows in confusion. "Why doesn't it have ink on it? I'm pretty sure it spilled all over your bed."

Could she have been anymore discreet? "Please give it back," I stated more firmly, my hand now outstretched towards them.

Reyna stepped in. "Fine, you can have it back, as long as you tell us your secret. We've suspected you for a long time now Ginny, in contrast to Briar and Donna. We just want to know what's been going on. You don't realise that our family have been suffering through this, worse than others, in fact. We promise we won't tell anyone, even if it relates to the chamber of secrets. We just want answers." Reyna's shoulders slumped.

Rebecca nodded. "We swear, that even if you do have something to do with the recent petrified people, it stays here in this room. We'll help you Ginny. It may seem as if we're bad, but we're really not. We've got the rest of the year to sort this mess out, and maybe restore our friendship again as well."

My hand fell down. I contemplated, thinking about the reliability of the twins. I wasn't a hundred percent sure about them, but one thing stood out in my mind. I was sure they would tattle about this, if I didn't agree with their terms. I had no other choice. "I, I will. Just give me back my diary, please," I pleaded.

The twins looked at each other. Reyna held the diary out in front of me, with which I quickly snatched it from her. I glanced nervously at them.

Rebecca opened her mouth. "We've got the whole day, Ginny. Let's start from the beginning."

I stared nervously at the diary tucked tightly against my chest. I breathed in heavily. The twins looked at me encouragingly, interest sparking in their eyes. I better get this over with then...
