The House

"Sorry to inform you but your house has been sold and now you're requested to leave the house as soon as possible."

I felt as if the ground beneath me slipped just by hearing the shocking statement.

What did he mean by my house had been sold to someone without me knowing anything about it?

I looked up at his face to see any sense of humor but all I could see was utmost seriousness.

"What do you mean by she has to leave her own house? Tell whoever the fuck sends you here that she's not leaving!" Ed snarled at the man's face and I watched that the man's face turned extremely cold. He was looking way more intimidating than Edward.

"Ms. Evans's father lost the house in gambling to our boss. And now, It is the boss's order to empty the place as soon as possible and he doesn't take no as an answer."

'Fa-father sold o-our house?'

"I told you, I don't care whoever the fuck your boss is. Isabella's father is missing and when he com-"

"Watch your tongue young man or it'll not take much time to slit that pretty throat of yours!" The man threatened in a calm voice and by his tone, he was in no mood of joking.

Sensing the fighting tension in between them, I held Ed's shoulder and forced him to step back. His eyes soften by looking at me and he shut his mouth, not before glaring at the bulky man in front of us.

"I-it's ok... we'll cle-clear the house within th-three days." I replied with a shaky voice as Ed gave me an 'are-you-serious' look.

"Remember it. Only three days," saying he left the café and I burst out in tears which I was holding for so long.

"Isabella!" Ed rushed towards my side and made me sit on the stool. He gave me a glass of water and I gulped it down in one go, choking at my own saliva.

"Ed... h-how-"

"Isabella, Isabella, I know how you're feeling. But now, we've to consult a lawyer immediately. We don't have enough time left with us."

"Didn't you see that man? He, himself looked powerful enough to buy the entire police station. I don't want to think about his boss." I panicked.

"I saw that too. But we can't assume things just by their looks now, can we What if he's a fraud? The papers are fake?"

"I-i don't know Ed. All I know is that whoever they're, they're powerful. They'll surely-"

"Calm down, Isabella. We'll discuss this tomorrow. I promise I won't let that bastard throw you out of your house. Now, you go and rest. You're looking as pale as a ghost." Ed gave me an assuring smile and I nodded uncertainly.

Closing the shop and waving him goodbye I made my way to my home.

So much had happened in this short period of time.

Opening my room door, I came face to face with Sapphy who was busy eating the apple I left while leaving in the morning.

After freshening up I changed into my pajama shots and climbed on the bed.

I watched as Sapphy finished his meal and now was staring at me bending his neck at an odd angle.

"Goodnight, Sapphy." Smiling at him, I felt my eyes dropped close.

But when my eyes opened again, I saw Sapphy was gone.
